I was able to work on a trail crew for 10 weeks this summer and used the GSI mug. For work everyday we hiked up at least a mile and I had that mug carabinered to the outside of my pack full of coffee. Never spilled. Just thought I’d share my experience, great video 👍🏻

Personally I’m a big fan of GSI products. Backpacker mug, commuter java press, java mill, java drip. All used daily in my brew kit I keep in my truck. Nice looking products at sensible prices but still quality items.

I've been using the GSI for a couple years now. Keeps stuff warm for a good amount of time. Has markings on the inside. And you can remove the cozy easily to clean the mug. 2 Thumbs up from me....

For bushcrafters, use the Kupilka cup. It is made with infused wood fibers so it insulates like wood and it looks good too. Check it out on Amazon. It matters what you drink out of.

Number one, in my opinion, is taste with delicious coffee, not cost. Once you find a good camping cup it will pay for itself in flavor. Hard to find without using some kind of stoneware? I haven't found one and enamelware is not my go to.

Love the GSI. It's my multi tool because it holds bourbon quite nicely in the evening. As for coffee it keeps it hot for a good long time.

Could it be that the MSR held the heat better because it was smaller than the other two? You used the same amount of coffee but the mugs were different sizes -- that should impact the results I would think. Perhaps if you filled them all up to max capacity then tested it would be more representative of in the field use? Thanks for the vid.

I use the GSI quite often while camping, hiking, and fishing. Hard to beat it for the price. Love that I can attach it to my backpack easily

Why do you want to keep your coffee hot for long periods of time in the outdoors?? As soon as the waters boiled in the morning, I want coffee without waiting or it being too hot and don't talk to me till after I've drank it! A Wildo Foldacup (large) is great for this, the coffee cools at the rate of a normal mug and is small and light in your backpack, job done!

Thanks to this vid I bought the GSI mug, perfekt in cold weather and without the insulation perfekt in the summer. And its waterproof so you can put youre coffee and tea in the mug when hiking and no risk of getting teabags or coffee grains wet

Hands down the GSI and it works great as a bowl and keeps food warm. The new style has the measure lines in the cup also. I bought each of my grandkids one to use as a bowl and then the collapsible Xcup for drinking because they cool faster. Dishwasher safe

I use this GSI mug and I get an aftertaste and aftersmell either I had a coffee in it or soup or tea. Stays there for many days even after been washed.

A little off topic but really would like your input before i fork over my $. For stainless steel: Nalgene, kleen kanteen, pathfinder? Which do you recommend more than the others. I use a 16oz tervis tumbler .they work great for me light weight tough and they hold up in the colder temperatures you should try one out

Curious.... What about the classic scout mug called Ugly Mugz.... Cheap indestructible have covers and we'll insulated? Known more in the scouting community but awesome Mugz! You should have tested that one as well.
