One very important good thing and sometimes even hobby/career saving thing is that when you use a pen tablet you are way more likely to keep up an good posture etc and thus less demanding on your body it is to actually draw. Pen tablet is much easier on your neck, wrists and to your back. With screen tablets those issues are way more common Its already quite a trend to see young and old artists with severe neck, wrists and back pains..... And that aint good Keep in mind usually hobbyist or career artist wants to create art, work etc for decades... Any way to make sure that happens is a road worth taking in my opinnion. Oh and i am so glad that i found this channel... Quality content THANK YOU

My boyfriends been getting me into manga and I've wanted to follow along to a gang of 'how to draw manga' videos for months now, fingers crossed this video gets me where I need to be. For a complete novice, looking at stores it feels like all tablets $50-$200 are 90% identical then there's a huge price jump for a screen and then again they're all super similar except for minor details I assume most people wouldn't notice or make use of

The cheapest drawing tablet you can get without a screen is about 20 dollars and it works somewhat well but if you want something more reliable you can get the Wacom intuos drawing tablet. The small version without Bluetooth cost around 70 dollars and it works very well. I’ve used it myself it’s great

Thank you for taking the time to share that with us! I really appreciate it! I'm happy to hear you have started getting into manga! I have to agree with you that most, if not all digital art tablets are essentially the same. Especially when newer models come out. Honestly, when it comes to things like Pen Sensitivity and Screen Resolution, any tablet can get the job done these days. You only REALLY need like 1000 levels of pen pressure to be good to go and these tablets are selling you like 8000 levels. Same with screen resolution, 1000 LPI is good enough for 1080x1920 art, but some tablets are selling you ten times what you need. It's mostly a marketing scheme to try and justify the jump in price. My advice would be to decide on what type of tablet you could see yourself using (pen, screen, or something like an Ipad) Then I would compare prices because with things like the Ipad, you can find a model a few years old with 16 gb of ram for LESS MONEY than the newer model with 8 gb of ram. As you said, most "new features" are negligible. I hope that could help and I hope this video and some of my other videos could be helpful for you learning how to draw manga! Please feel free to write back if I can help with anything! Best of luck!!

@@MonitorComics Thanks for taking the time to respond! I'm down to deciding between a Huion Inspiroy H950P which "Jazza" had a really glowing review for, or the obvious/standard Wacom One or Intuos as they're both basically $99 AUD and if digital art isn't my thing it's not the end of the world. Our local 'best buy' equivalent's screen tablets start at close to $600+

@@bimmer24m32 Is there any major difference between the Intuos and the Huion Inspiroy H950P? I'm looking at them both, I like the Inspiroy aesthetically more but it's hard to find any comparisons of the two when Australia's best buy-like store only stocks wacom

dude, i’ve been binging these videos about how to make manga the best, i have the skills to draw digitally and create stories but even though i feel like i have potential, i have no idea where i would even publish my manga/comic (but mostly in the style of manga) i’ve thought about webtoon but i was wondering if there’s anything better than that where it would get noticed? thanks for always uploading too :)

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment and sharing, I really appreciate it! When it comes to getting your work out there, the publisher route and self publishing route are both valid approaches When it comes to webtoons, it's an amazing platform for just posting your work so it can easily be shared around. Webtoons also have some success with some titles becoming animated or given live adaptations. Personally, though, I don't see much value in Webtoons for building your brand. The discoverability for nonfeatured artists is rough. The process for becoming a featured creator is also rough. Webtoons make money for a large amount of comics published to their site, but rarely do I hear of any regular webtoon artists making any money by using their site Other similar sites like Tapastic are also cool, but in the same boat when it comes to marketing your work. Personally, for the self-publishing route I believe you need to be doing something else to get noticed (youtube, tik tok, Instagram famous, etc) By making people a fan of YOU they will want to check out your work When it comes to actually publishing, it all depends on where you live. I can only speak for the United States, but there are publishers out there that support the manga style. These include Tokyopop, Atlantic Press, Dark Horse, and Saturday AM The only perk to working with a publisher is you get access to their resources (fanbase, marketing, design team, networking etc) You can begin making money the more content you create Other indie publishers exist like Pulse Manga, Shrine Comics, TheNinth, VoyceME, and Noir Caesar but those can be hit or misses. Many of these smaller publishers don't have a strong business model and are most likely going to sink before long I personally work with Saturday AM because I believe in their business model and the data that supports their success All in all, the decision to work with a publisher revolves around how far you want to try and take your manga project. Webtoons is definitely great for starting out, but experimenting with other networks may work better Hopefully, that could help a bit Best of luck!

I just stumbled upon your video and I’m glad I did cause I started writing my own book. I want to make it a manga but I’m not good at drawling lol, but my question to you for a manga format what would be the best to start off with then progressively upgrade too. You probably said it in the video but I’m a lil slow at understanding these concepts of technology even tho I’m very young😭

Thank you for taking the time to check out this video and leaving a comment! At the end of the day it all comes down to budget and preference. If you are on a tight budget, you could buy a pen tablet for under 100 USD. The only drawback is you have to look up at your computer/laptop screen to see where you are drawing I personally cannot use pen tablets because I like to see exactly where I am drawing (like drawing traditionally with pen and paper.) So I am much more of a fan of things like an Ipad or a screen tablet. The only drawback is those tools are usually more expensive. If I had to give a recommendation, I'd say go for some sort of tablet like an Ipad or buy the cheapest screen tablet you can find

If you are ABLE to draw on a pen tablet, then that is definitely the best bang for your buck. BUT, if you are like me, who sucks at it and is much better drawing on a Screen Tablet (like an ipad), then trying to find an affordable screen tablet is the way to go The majority of screen tablets are exactly the same, so find the one that best fits your budget. The main reason prices range is because of tablet size and metal used to make it. With so many brands these days, Huion, Gaomon, Wacom, Xencelabs, Veikk, XP-PEN, etc, you're bound to find one you like!

I personally haven't tried it and don't know anyone that uses it so I can't give you a solid answer. TBH most newer tablets are usually "good enough" to get the job done. If you use a industry standard software like Clip Studio Paint, Photoshop etc you should be able to do whatever you need to!

I personally haven't used one or researched that specific brand before. After a quick google search though, it does look pretty cool! It seems to have 6 GB of ram which should get the job done. Usually, I just focus on RAM because the more ram you have, the smoother your drawing program will work. It also looks like you can draw right on the screen like an Ipad, so that's a plus too. I feel like it'd be great for a beginner!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment! Yes, it is possible to make a manga with procreate! I haven't used procreate too much myself, but I would assume you would need to draw out your panels yourself. Clip Studio Paint has a panel, speech bubble, and effects built-in and I know Photoshop has plugins for those. I'm unsure if procreate has any easy ways to automate that process! Procreate is a very strong art program though and the Ipad is a great tablet! You should have no issues! Best of luck!
