*Polar OH1* or *Verity Sense* is great. Used it with running for years. Sits on your upper arm, doesn't feel it at all. And it can track your heart rate without wearing the watch, like when at home, while sleeping etc. I find it uncomfortable to wear the watch all the time, so this is a great option. Not sure why they're not more popular. As if people are not aware of them. The accuracy is excellent for running. Basically matches the H10 chest strap, with a few seconds delay only. Has ANT+, so hooks up with anything. I've used it with Garmin Forerunner 235 and 935.

I just got my Polar H10 and I am looking forward. Prior to this I had a Giant HRM which worked so perfect. Then I December 2022, I upgraded to a Wahoo TickrX. The Wahoo worked 99% of the time but very unreliable. I have had 5 road bike races since the beginning of this year. In 2 of those races, the HRM failed to match the intensity of the work compared to my power meter. On a 10km hill climb with over 1900m, my beats per minutes were less than 120 BPM. Usually, this would have been 163 - 177 BPM. I was also using it for my morning fast group rides and in most cases, it has been failing me, with beats ranging from 43 - 95. It is a let down

Good review. There seems to be a lack of third party/open source phone apps to pair with these simple straps (likely BT). Polar Beat is a decent simple app, but the customization is almost non-existent. The push to web based accounts is also troubling in the app space, with little to no legal protection in their ability to anonymize your personal location + time and medical data. There is a role for social (Strava), but there is also a role for private user training data. Let me know if you have any ideas.
