So after this was recorded I cleared SH2 on the HD collection which if I’d finished it before making the list absolutely would have made the cut. If I was able to slot it in it would take the place of Deadly Premonition. This was such a blast to be a part of even though I feel like it’s the genre I least interact with. I think next year much like I did for JRPGs this year I’ll try to knock off at least 3-5 horror titles that should be on that list 😂 Interested to see what top tens everyone else picks 👀

I’m with you, but with SH2R. If we would’ve recorded this just a few days later, without a doubt one of my first 3 picks would’ve went to SH2R. We’ll have to revisit this in like 3-4 years and see how our tastes have changed

first off, good on all of you, for holding out for Alan Wake 2 (physical). If half the people had this mindset, we wouldn't be staring at an all digital future. Sidenote: Plan to pick up my copy next month. despite the horror genre not actually being among my fave, i REALLY enjoyed this episode. Can't fake passion. Also loved this specific format. Can you imagine doing an all-time "sandbox" games, or all-time sports titles episode?! below is my personal Top 10. I’m really pumped for that Thing remaster coming from Night Dive, I’ll be checking that out as soon as it releases for sure. Glad little nightmares made it in, absolutely loved that game. Few recommendations for ones that didn’t get mentioned - ‘Still wakes the deep’, ‘Signalis’, ‘The Chant’… Finally this one’s not technically a horror game. But is creepy and gave me the best worst jump-scare, during my play through. Lies of P’ honestly had to put my controller down for a few minutes after killing the thing that jumped out at me.

I think we were all subconsciously trying not to just fill the list with Resident Evil games lol. I wanted to take RE1 remake, Code Veronica, and Revelations forsure. If I’m being completely honest, I would’ve taken those, RE4 OG, RE0, RE3,&RE3R over every game I selected from 7-10… 🤣

Soma is great man, one of the rare horror games that really gets those wheels spinning. Shocking how strong that story is, especially with how little it actually says. Kinda just points you in the direction, and lets your mind run wild filling in the blanks

@@MadnlooneyJR I didn’t start gaming until later in the PS2 lifecycle so I missed a lot but I’m a 90s kid so I gravitate towards that style. I have to go 1.) Parasite Eve, I watched a little bit of gameplay on YT & decided that I’d love to play that game. It looked pretty good for a PS1 game. 2.) Silent Hill 2 remake now that people are giving it marks for being a good remake. 3.) Dead Space 2, I only played the first on PS3. That game terrified me and I hear people love the 2nd. I should just play the trilogy tbh. I think I still need copies of 2 & 3.

@@Sticks_of_Truth As I mentioned it’s definitely a genre I need to give more love and appreciation to myself. I seriously started gaming on the 360 where I expanded to many more games so stuff like RE1 etc I had never touched. By the time I did tank controls felt so unpleasant to play with mentally I checked off ever playing them. But I did push through SH2 from the HD collection since this video was recorded as I did feel bad that I’d left SH as a franchise essentially untouched. I will say as well I think I’ll always prefer stuff like The Evil Within 2 more than most classics. What’s your favourite generation for horror games out of curiosity?

It’s all opinions… most the podcasters/youtubers I listen to have drastically different opinions on games than I do… I think that’s healthy, if we all agreed on everything, there’d be no point in talking about anything lol.

@@MadnlooneyJR I'm definitely old school. I've been there from the beginning with Alone in the Dark on PC. The first Resident Evil blew my mind and RE2 was and is, incredible. When the original Silent Hill came out it was the first game that hit me on a horror level and not just tension jumpscares. The Silent Hill series is the first one that made your skin crawl. Horrible controls, but they all had horrible controls. Silent Hill and Resident Evil were two sides of the same coin, and I loved them both for what they offered. Modern-day I'd have to tip my hat to Dead Space more than RE4. Dead Space 2 being a personal favorite. All of the modern remakes have been incredible. Being realistic I'd list Alien Isolation, Dead Space 2, Resident Evil 2 remake, The Evil Within 2, leaving Resident Evil 7 at the number one spot. RE7 cheats a bit with that being extremely scary in VR. It also borrows heavily from Evil Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. You still can't beat the impact of the original OG survival horror games. Side by side they don't compare but if you were around during the time of their release, you would understand.

@@UnnecessaryRambling I understand this and it's all good. I had to give you guys a little friendly rib poking for those damn list though. All of your lists were full of good games but I can't expect you guys to have played or liked the same games. Castlevania Symphony of the Night is my number one game of all time. It used to be Super Metroid because there would be no Symphony without Super. Would I put Symphony on a horror list... No! I'm more likely to give something like that to Bloodborne. A game highly influenced by Symphony of the Night.

I'm in the middle of playing the Silent Hill 2 remake right now. From what I've played so far it's looking like it's right up there with the Dead Space and RE remakes. It'll probably knock Alien Isolation out of my top five of all time if it can stick the landing.
