I think Guthans is really underrated in this league and I wouldn't be surprised if you could AFK bosses with the set and brawlers. You'll have a huge defensive bonus, access to all 3 attack styles, and you'll be pumping out damage at 2t that heals for 25%.

Personally was going melee before relics were announced, then magic when they were announced, but given that my main goal is points ended up going with range. A big issue magic has is it is a 0 time skill to get to 200m exp. Picking a combat style that is already likely to hit every exp milestone in the leagues as a primary combat style will greatly slow down the other combat styles from reaching their exp milestones. Main thing that got me on range is it is actually the easiest to get infinite charges for compared to the other 2 styles, not the hardest. Melee will still have to do theater of blood after all unqiues to keep feeding scythe and magic will still need to source runes due to their 90% instead of 98% off of assembler + relic for range. Range, similar to magic, also gets a rune pouch equivalent that holds multiple bolts if going for Fremenik. For 1 inventory spot it is possible to have infinite healing, 100% poison chance, ruby bolt 100/110s, among 2 other utility bolts. While not announced yet, magic also suffers heavily from a special attack relic. Both melee and range get really good specs, where magic has near nothing or a very long rng grind to get access to one.

Ranged will actually be the highest DPS in areas where you can use last recall (Which is basically every boss aside from raids) since you can just dump 5 ZCB specs for 550 damage, tele to your POH, fully restore your special attack energy, teleport back, and dump another 5 specs. Doing this on repeat is somewhere around 50+ damage per second which will only lose out to melee or magic if you're max hitting on every swing. This can be done in the early/mid game as well before you have the proper tier of rejuvenation pool by teleporting to the Chambers of Xeric, entering, and then exiting a raid, which is a huge deal because the ruby bolt special effect doesn't benefit from your ranged strength bonuses, meaning that you could theoretically rush straight to GWD and once you have a ZCB you have achieved your maximum possible DPS setup before you even get your 3rd region. Bolts are also basically a non-issue since special effects on bolts roll on every hit regardless of whether or not you succeed in your accuracy roll, so addy bolts fired from an addy crossbow will proc the exact same amount as dragon bolts from a dragon crossbow, if the majority of your DPS is relying on these bolt procs, then your accuracy and ranged strength is irrelevant.

Yes! RCB and Adamant ruby bolts are a pretty quick snap-up. I genuinely think ranged & melee are less dependent on the super-rare drops for good results.

Seems like melee is kinda just if you want freelo damage asap and it'll be super simple to utilize the relic's full potential. Mage on the other hand will require more setup and RNG dependence (for ex. shadow's rarity compared to fang's), but will have alot higher dps potential. With all the utility bonuses baked into the mage relic, it's hard to consider the ranged one over it. Unless you just prefer CoX over ToA, magic just seems better than ranged right now.

I'm planning on going with 2 accounts, my main and my GIM. For the GIM I'm just farming points for cosmetics, and planning on Desert, Wild, and Fremmy for the repeatable bosses and easy Skilling grinds. For that I'm probably going Melee, going for a leaf axe early until eventually landing a fang. If I have time I'm also kinda excited to see how high rev weapons dps could get lol!! For the main I'm trying to keep my streak of Rune tier, so planning on doing a lot more end game stuff. Thinking Desert, Asgarnia, and either Zeah or Kandarin. PROBABLY leaning mage for this one, but honestly range has me tempted. ACB/ZCB with full arms/masori, a buckler, and Rigor looks JUICY and will potentially let me get an zuk kill for the first time. Probably going to play this one by ear and wait to see what other relics may synergize with it

Range option with Zaryte Xbow sounds super fun, wait for a proc and then dump the spec for an almost guarrenteed b2b. If the stars align it sounds like you could do 440 damage in 2 attacks.

Wdym "If the stars align"? Get weapon specialist and fucking unload 5 specs in 6 seconds, tele out and restore your spec energy, and then come back with last recall and dump another 5 specs. You're doubling your ranged accuracy with the special attack on top of the +100% bonus from the ranged relic, so you will literally never miss, you'll just take 550 HP chunks out of the boss with the only downtime being the time it takes for you to restore your special attack energy and tele back.

The problem the mage relic has, more than the others, is that two of your regions are already spoken for. Desert obviously for shadow and ancients, but Kandarin for Occult and Tormented Bracelet. Melee can get an endgame set in nearly every unlockable region. _(btw, if you go for Tirannwn or Frem, don't sleep on the leaf-bladed battleaxe. It's bis until raids)_ Ranged only really needs one region, and they still have a choice on which one that is.

2 tick rcb for sure! will take a second to get but with buyable thrown knives and just a bit of skilling im very excited about double ruby procs to speed up pvm til you can get enough gear to cox/toa. Im also planning for zeah, asgarnia, and desert just not sure which order.

The 2 tick crossbow is viable the second you can fletch and enchant ruby bolts. Ruby bolts roll their proc chance before you roll accuracy, so if you have a 6% chance to proc a ruby bolt but (theoretically) a 0% chance to actually hit, you will still hit a ruby bolt spec 6% of the time, and it's damage will not be affected by the type of bolt used, so adamant bolts fired from an adamant crossbow will do identical damage on a spec as a zaryte crossbow shooting dragon bolts. The only difference is DPS is on non-proc hits where you're doing normal accuracy and damage rolls based off your crossbow's accuracy and bolt's ranged strength. Once you get a ZCB though the type of bolt you use is essentially irrelevant since your goal will be to dump all your specs, tele out to restore, and dump all your specs again.

Kandarin is so vital for shadow because the shadow is actually really mediocre without the magic damage boosts of items, and 15%(45%) from Occult+Tormented Bracelet is the highest amount you can get from any single region, and its more than every other damage boost combined from all other regions.

I'm not good very good at high level pvm (still fucking up my prayer swaps and getting one hit on jad on main) so i was leaning to melee since it's tankiness would allow me to try content i wouldnt normally be good enough to do (and melee is whats generally used most for everyday slayer/ non boss pvm which i might end up doing mor than i do bossing) but at the same time the magic relic looks super fun and if i do end up trying more bossing might end up proving more useful. I'd always recon it's magic because no matter which combat style you use, you use runes. even if you don't do combat, you use runes. and that 90% rune-saving chance is soooo useful if you hate rc and shop hopping and that's not even close to the half of it

I think best relic in terms of damage ridiculousness is indeed magic simply because of the way how shadow works. You get such stupid dmg output. Melee is most noob friendly one with possibly really troll/broken synergies blood fury/guthans/dinhs. Range is solid since the style is just so strong and def good in raids. We don't know all relics yet so something like a special attack relic could rlly make this one stupid. I'm personally going to have a problem figuring out if ''learning'' in this league is actually something on the table lmao. Might be better to just embrace the broken-ness of this league even if you're a noob. Stuff is so off the charts that you get used to entirely different game compared to main. So while you do learn a little bit most of the stuff you get used to I feel can be completely discarded when you do same content on main.

Wanted to clarify a few common misconceptions that I saw in this video about how the maths works out for some of these things. 1) Faster weapons don't inherently "synergise better" with crits over slower weapons. The fact that they proc it more often is counterbalanced by the fact that faster weapons are typically weaker. +10% crit chance is, on average, +10% damage, regardless of whether you are attacking fast or slow, and just thinking of it as "just +10% average dps" will help to avoid making this mistake. There are overkill considerations for heavy hitting weapons as always, but that's a separate issue and not specific to crits. 2) The scythe swings being linked together (like these crits) or independent (like blood fury procs) does not affect the average (it affects the variance because the statistical distribution changes). Just like before, it's just +10% dps on average (ignoring overkill). For an analogy, it is the *exact* same scenario as the new DT2 vestige mechanics: they drop 3x independent rolls which average out to the same rate as 1 big drop, but the variance is lower. If you have 3x as many rolls then you are going to be less likely to go "dry" (chance to have all three hits fail to crit: 73% vs 90%) and you are also less likely to get "spooned" (chance to have all three hits crit at once: 0.1% vs 10%), but the average is the same in either case. Same logic applies to the +10% double hits with ranged, but I didn't hear anything in the video that needed correcting on that front.

I'm going ranged just because of 2 tick zcb with 2x accuracy, 2x bolt procs, plus the 5x spec with faster recharge and lightbearer means I can ZCB spec almost infinitely. Bosses are going to melt away. There's nothing they can do, they're already out of the game. I think you're severely underselling just how busted ranged is.

I was leaning toward Mage because of the Shadow, and likely leaning more toward Zeah and Desert to do both the raids (and learn them since I've never done them before) Glad to know Desert + Zeah is pretty good for Mage, I hear people are omiting Zeah for their unlocks

Cox requires all 3 combat styles heavily compared to TOA and ancestral is minimal compared to virtus in desert with ancients until shadow. Zeah is only good as a 3rd if you want more to grind for, other good options are fremmy for BiS magus ring and saturated heart, and Asgarnia gives eternal boots and bis melee and range for off relic styles for raids

Just do whatever you think is most fun, they're literally all going to be OP nomatter what so missing out is the least of your worries ESPECIALLY with combat relics where it's so heavily based on personal preference.

i think going Ranger was heavyly thinking melee no picking K so missing piety and extra mage dps no picking morty since two raids feel too much 90% get burned out Dwa for Melee or Ranger DWT /DWA /DWF maybe mage DWF/T T=Blade/Bowfa in raids DW also crazy mage build if true void is magic basic SA so 5 void spec then switch to shadows

The dps comparisons seem flawed since you say mage is the best dps on bosses it can't even access.

It's soooo close between ranged and mage for me but I think ranged just about takes it, mostly down to gear progression being so much smoother. 2 tick barrage might be great for slayer, but without kandarin it's shadow or bust and I just don't like the content in kandarin very much. Compared to ranged which starts at rcb and dhide, then full arma+acb, then masori with zcb and tbow; there's just so much more to aim at.

Black D'hide and an RCB is just about all you need to go to Nex with another small team and absolutely melt the boss, it's like +5 dps on top of your current dps when you use ruby bolts.

So mage out performed ranged in areas you wouldn't unlock with the setups you have? This doesn't make any sense what so ever... As you wouldn't be able to get the same gear so the comparisons are done very poorly. I ran mage in trailblazer and it was a lot of fun, I agree they are all very close. I haven't done any testing myself, just an observation from your data.

Explained poorly? Probably. But 4 builds tested pretty fairly across about 50 different mid-late game bosses, the video is a much smaller size for viewing :) I'll pin the DPS calc if anyone is interested though

Its not explained poorly, just a bad way to compare builds. As with the mage build being DKZ, it wouldnt be right to compare a boss in asgarnia as the gear would change. So the dps wouldnt be the same. Love the content either way, always looking forward to your videos as they are quality.
