Watching Joe torture JJ is just hilarious. Joe's giggling at Caoimhe's comment and seeing JJ's head drop was the highlight of the video. Although in fairness this wasn't really a level playing field. The home team's in each game have the advantage, plus as JJ pointed out modern Liverpool have the massive advantage of having great chemistry.

Huge yes for this concept - well worth repeating for other clubs/nations - late 80s Milan vs mid 2000s Milan would be massive. I'd love to see a "teams that could have been" tournament. Had West Ham/Southampton/Chelsea not let their best players go and kept them in their peak. I would argue that 88/89 (Rush, Aldridge, Barnes, Beardsley etc) are unfortunate to miss out, but then so are the 13/14 side (Suarez, Sturridge, Coutinho, Sterling) and the 08/09 (Torres, Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano).

I think the 2005 team is a weird pick in terms of quality as 88/2014 are much better picks. I know it’s scandalous to say among some Liverpool fans but I do think the current team is the best quality man for man we have had.

I think this is all covered by the fact that footy is faster and physically more demanding these days. Only having fourteen players and one sub a game made sense when the game was played at that pace. It's also why the modern Liverpool would absolutely batter any previous Liverpool team before it, and is the best ever: different standards, different game.
