Philips hue is the best by far. Expensive, but well worth it. They give me no trouble at all, unlike most other brands

Hey Del Boy, I thought you'd be going for the best steal of a deal! 😜 I think it depends on if you are 'all in' Philips Hue, or if you have a scattering of different smart products, then using an Aqara, Fibaro or Aeotec sensor can be a better option.

@@homey Hahaha, yeah, me n Rodders love a deal......I use aqara for door sensors, and a mix of hue and ikea bulbs, some shelly 1's in the ceiling etc, but with regards to motion sensors, i just love the philips ones cos they don't false trigger etc etc

Nice video. They definitely have different qualities for different use-cases, e.g.: I use Fibaros tamper-alarm to register when my old-school door phone is activated, because it has very granular settings. And the Hue Outdoor sensor in my shower to avoid the lights going off when I am in the shower. I find the Fibaro to have shorter battery life and the CR123 battery a little exotic. On the other hand, Hue sensors just keep on going and is extremely reliable. Never became very good friends with Aqara Motion Sensor, but love their Contact and Temperature Sensors.

The minimum time (delay) for the Aqara is 60 seconds and not 90 👍🏼and with Expert settings it can go as low as 5 seconds.

Hey Simon, thanks for letting me know! I'll make sure to double-check and update the Article page asap. How does Expert settings work with Aqara?
@scande282 жыл бұрын
@@homey It’s in advanced settings, expert settings and hacked sensor turned on. Which make it possible to cancel the alarm with only 5 seconds. 👍🏼

Be aware that if you go out and buy the Hue Motion sensor now, most likely you will get a V2 model. This model does not work with the homey pro app atm. There is a beta version of the app, but after ~1 week, it will fall out/stop reporting to Homey Pro. Restarting the beta app itself seems to fix the issue. I bet it will get resolved, but just a warning to be told :)

The new Aqara P1 is perfect. It supplants the Hue the former king of the hill. The old Aqara here is just ok.

Thanx for the perfect summary. Good to see that you guys at homey seem to work on lots of things. Are there any experiences concerning the best humidity sensor for the lawn? Was thinking about Ecowitt or Sonoff. Would appreciate a comment on that. Great work also on improving flows. In my opinion its a fair price model for an add-on.
@homey2 жыл бұрын
Hey Heinz, thanks for the positive comment. :) In terms of an outdoor humidity sensor, I must admit I don't have that much experience with them. The only one I have tried is from Gardena. But since you also need to buy the hub it all costs quite a bit. With no experience on the actual devices themselves i'd recommend Ecowitt, purely on the App developer Adrian Rockall's reputation which is needless to say very good. He has a ton of other apps under his belt, and maintains them all to a very high level. 👍homey.app/a/com.misol/

@@homey Hey @Homey and thanks for taking your time to answer. Yeah, as you said, Gardena is expensive especially when it comes to value for money. Its a well known german brand and they spend lots of money into marketing. Its not that their quality is really bad but worse than Hunter or Rainbird which are more reasonable. I will go for the Ecowitt because of your experience on the app developer, seems worth the risk. PS: Keep up the good work and would love to see my personal missing links in the future: Dashbord, easy-to-create-Shortcuts on IOS and an app, which allows a more detailed configuration of the UI. But you have my trust, I think you can do that. Kind regards and thanx for your good work!
