The value I have found in the NA beer is when I was out with friends had like 2 beers but knew I needed to drive later after a concert or something.I still felt like I was having a beer with friends but not pushing any legal limits. Also they have come a long way from O’douls or Busch NA😂

I'm a buyer for a wine shop. More and more of my N/A sales (not just beer, but wine and rtd mocktails, too) are for the reason you mentioned. Many of the brands have been specifically pitched to me as "the drink between drinks". There's a certain inertia to drinking and N/A bevs can be a useful way to tap the breaks.

Do you get Untitled Art there? Their N/A beers are several notches above any others I’ve tried. They make an Italian Style pils that I routinely pick up over their normal counterparts, even with the higher price tag. They also have West Coast, Juicy and Hazy IPAs; in particular the Hazy is quite good among it’s peers.

Nate. The last time you sampled nonalcoholic beer, I commented that you should try Two Roads Juicy IPA. You said you hadn’t had it, but that you would give it a try. True story, I was up at Treehouse on Tuesday and I brought a can of it to give to you, but you weren’t there. When I saw today’s video posting, I just had to a crack up.

NA beer is simply a way to make you feel like you're drinking with your buddies during Dry January. They are lacking something. Sierra Nevada has a line of NA beers and they took their time putting them on the market. Maybe should be included in your next round. Guiness NA is pretty flavorful due to the dark malts. Cheers.

Guinness 0 is the best NA beer I’ve had (I usually try quite a few during sober October) and it’s not even close. Authentic as a brand is my second go-to though. Would love to hear what Nate has to say about the Guinness

Although, not an IPA, Athletic Lite is by far the best NA beer I've had. It still tastes like unfermented wort, but it's the best of the NA world!

Forgive me if you get into this in the video and I haven't gotten to it yet but I wanted to ask a pro. Since alcohol evaporates/changes to gas more easily than water; would NA/Alcohol-Free beer be harder to smell volatile aromatics from the hops used? Since alcohol turning to gas would carry those chemicals to your nose more readily? Love the videos guys, keep up the great work!

Brulo from UK does magic with these. I don't know how they do it, but it's a totaly different category of non-alcoholic beers, compared to anything else I tried, craft or not.

Kudos for trying these beers! Mar 2024 I had knee replacement surgery and couldn't 'drink' before or immediately after. I tried some N/A beers: Heineken 0.0, and others were pretty damn good ! Seeing your review I tried Athletic Brew... Upside Dawn: Golden. Similar to your tasting notes, it was like a 'hop water' but with more 'ummph'! and more maltiness. So maybe a tasting show: N/A beers vs. Gluten free beers vs. N/A beers that you add alcohol to ? 😀I'll have to search if you've done gluten free. GF just lacks the 'ummph' ! The mouth feel for me. Maybe I'll try a Miller Lite vs. GF ? interesting ... Enjoy your videos. Thanks for the work that you and your crew do to produce them ! Hopefully it all pays off in support for TreeHouse Brewing and it's wider mission ! Cheers ! 🙂

Agree with many posts, Athletic is the best all-around; however, I think Stella’s non-alcoholic brew taste is really close to their alcoholic brew, quickly becoming my favorite. Plus, it’s a true 0.0%, unlike Athletic that’s a “near-beer” at .5%.

Recommend Deschutes fresh squeezed NA. It’s legit tastes like real beer … I fooled several friends at a pool party this summer. Sierra also makes an excellent one …

Best Day makes a very convincing kolsch but then again that style is known for it's lightness and dryness. Athletic's "Cerveza Athletica" is a Mexican dark lager style that is quite respectable IMO.

Untitled Art does some NA options that have decent mouthfeel. Their Orange Peel Wit is by far my favorite NA I’ve had. The Italian Pilsner isn’t half bad. Their Juicy IPA and Fruited Sours are closer to a juice than a beer but tasty nonetheless.

Untitled Art West Coast NA IPA is the very best I have had. It blows Athletic out of the water, in my opinion. But I love Athletic's stuff. I think Hazy Wave is their best regular-issued IPA. Cerveza Athletica is a fantastic take on that style.

I enjoy Hop seltzer like Lagunita’s Hoppy Refresher or Hoplark than I do most NA beers. Also Heineken 0.0 actually has 0.01% or 0.05% so they are allowed to say 0.0 so they technically not completely alcohol free.

Heineken 0 is the best NA beer I've ever had. I will drink that over any 'craft' NA. the Sam Adams hazy is good, but it has like 140 calories and 25+ grams of sugar...so you might as well just drink a can of Mountain Dew for half the price.

When it comes to ipa’s I like Lagunitas, it was a grapefruit touch to it that seems to add a lot. Overall though I prefer non ipa na’s like corona 0 or athletic golden ale

I think IPA is a very difficult style to get right as a non alcoholic beer style. It’s too hard to find a balance when there is no alcohol and a weak grain bill to balance the hops. Trying a different style might yield better results. Guinness makes the NA beer I have tried, I think the nitrogen gives it more of that body so you still have some mouthfeel and then the rest of the flavor comes from the darker grains.

I would like to try to brew a NA beer, but its the difficulty of keeping the nasties from killing you, without alcohol to keep you safe. Other than hops , acidity and Pasteurization

I don't know if Treehouse has done something like it, but as a brewing challenge, why not try to do a low ABV hazy? Say something like 2-3% ABV but one that doesn't disappoint on the hops (bitterness and aroma) or mouthfeel. I'm sure this could make for great content by discussing the process and recipe, making it as open as you can to maybe give a recipe homebrewers could try, too.

I tried a BUNCH of NA beers this past dry January and found they all exhibited the exact thing noted in this video. They were thin, lacked the body and mouthfeel and general experience. The flavor wasn't awful, but I realized by the end of the month I'd rather drink water than these NA beers. They have a place and I'm glad people like them, but they're not for me until they can figure out how to replicate the body/mouthfeel issues. Same goes for NA spirit alternatives.

I found that after a long period of sobriety these beers were fun to have around, especially the athletic (never tried the others in this video). However I find it really difficult to "mix these in" to an afternoon in the summer. Following a real beer with one of these is.... not great, grab a seltzer.

I figure that boiled wort taste is from not going through a proper fermentation so I don't think adding alcohol after the fact is going to help the flavor. I fear it might accentuate everything that's bad about them 😬

Favorite NA IPA is Deep Fake from Flying Dog. Nitro does a good stout and Guinness 0 is decent.

This was a pretty demoralizing video to watch. Maybe it should be called "we're test driving 4 economy cars and comparing the experience to a fucking Ferrari." Some of us don't really have a choice between picking a NA beer and a "real" beer, but still want to capture SOME of the joy that we used to get. These are NEVER going to be the same as the others. They just can't be. But god forbid we try to find some happiness out of a difficult situation.

Try Go Brewing Double IPA non alcoholic. It's the closet thing to a real IPA from an NA beer I've ever had. I don't quite understand how you can call it a non-alcoholic double IPA but, if you can get past that, it has a nice aroma and it's fairly bitter.

I think only macrobreweries can make no alcohol beer that tastes good, like heineken 00 and guiness 0 because they use vacuum distillation (wich is a veeery expensive thing to do) on beer that has been brewed exactly the same as a regular beer. Microbreweries use yeast that dont metabolize maltose and make a wort that doesn't has much maltose and stop fermentation, it just doesn't taste right

Athletic Hazy (orange can) is the single and only one that IPA drinkers get fooled by. The rest are seltzery. Even the weak beers like corona heineken etc.
