BitWarden Send allow you to share a password (or a note) with anybody as a link. You can limit how many time it can be seen or for how long. It can be reached with the send button in the interface ( both app or web). Maybe this is the answer to one of your points against BitWarden.

His video literally has the send button visible on the screen... so it's not like that is a new feature since this video came out. I loved the majority of this video, until I saw him mistaken on Bitwarden's features. Now I'm like.... what is he missing from the other providers? Unrelated.. I trialed Keeper a couple years ago. It was ads all over the place! Upgrade here! Add this feature here! What starts out at a reasonable price just gets more expensive with their add-ons, and there are popups all over the place! Just this alone turned me off Keeper for a long time!

Thanks for the chart. Three major factors for me are the following deal-makers. 1. Customer service - fast, efficient and personalized (i.e. by phone or chat) 2. Simplicity: not a lot of 'bells and whistles,' does just a few things perfectly, maybe five things at a very high standard and... nothing else. 3. Customizable categories, ideally with choice of icons and colours. I am not technically-inclined. All I need is a digital version of a locked diary.

Superb review! You covered the points that matter and did it concisely! One of my requirements has been the ability to store attachments like pictures, etc. LP has that, but the interface is basic. I used MyKi until they deprecated the app but it was a great app and I loved it. In your review, I briefly saw Keeper offering the attachments feature and it appeared to be better than what LP offers. Thank you for the great review. Subscribed!

Good review, but you are missing some important points that i consider to be deciding factors. 1- Breach reports: Does it include ALL emails in the logins, or only the email in which you registered the account with the password manager? Lastpass reports all emails (personally i use multiple emails for login, and i think a lot of people do). Using only the email registered in the password manager kind of kills the point for me. 2- Can you search by password instead of by login? sometimes i need to search for a specific password, especially if there was a breach to see if it was reused somewhere else. In onepassword i can type the password in the search field, in nordpass for example, i can't. 3- There are other features like, autochange password (i dont remember which one had it, i think keeper), which are handy but not mentioned. 4- Wether they are open source or not (i think only bitwarden is). 5- Wether there is an alert every time you log in or not (nordpass does not alert you). Especially point #1 and #5 are super important for me. Cheers and keep up the good work!

I'm in the market to research the new advancements in the password manager tech. Good review! But you mentioned that RoboForm does not offer Custom Fields. Well, RoboForm has the option to add Custom Fields, albeit in a geeky way. It's been there since a long time. By the way, as a long-time RoboForm user, I like its feature of offering form-filling in Windows dialog boxes (like offering to auto-fill PDF passwords). Is there any other password manager that provides the Windows form-filling feature?

Great video, but Lastpass DOES support custom fields (although it's not obvious in the app - when editing an entry, click the spanner icon in the 'Edit Password' dialog). I am Lastpass user, who is thinking of switching after this security breach. Many of the password manager companies have been hacked in some way, but allowing employees such easy access to customer vaults is disgraceful - internal networks should be air-gapped from production systems given the sensitivity of the data they contain. I've been trying 1Password, but there are inconsistencies between the desktop app. browser extension and web app. Such as adding custom fields, or deleting entries, I still think Lastpass front-end is better than 1Password - because of this.

I tried 1Password Family for myself+wife. I found a problem with the design. You cannot share the same Chrome session (eg share bookmarks etc) as another user. You have to come right out and start a new session to log on as a different 1Password user. No such constraints with Bitwarden (nor with the now-disgraced Lastpass). The 1Password interface is otherwise far more sophisticated, as is their implementation of autofill. But I'm living with Bitwarden for the time being.

I was a Lastpass user for 2 years. But at the end of 2022, I tried many of the popular password managers. From there I have stuck with Bitwarden. Man, I am super happy with Bitwarden. Like it has everything that a password manager need in the free plan. And the premium plan add more functions but I will say, it more over to support the company rather than the features. Becdause the free plan has all the things. Also regarding the design, Bitwarden recently done a full UX/UI r3edesign. And I gotta admit it looks dammnn good.

I used Lastpass for years and switched to Bitwarden very recently but now ended up with KeyPassXC. The problem with all the pass managers out there which seem pretty easy for usage is that they all (or most of them) use the PBKDF2 algo, which is as of today old and probably not very safe anymore (todays GPU's could crack it relatively easy in time). I switched to KeyPassXC which uses Argon2. Needs some more time to set it all up as you need a external cloud if you want to use it with your smartphone. But I feel more secure into the future. BTW KeyPassXC is free and opensource

Thanks for sharing the recommendation. I'll look into this! So this is kind of like an offline password manager - or self hosted password manager if you had a NAS at home?
@michaelha3038
@michaelha3038 Жыл бұрын
@@AndySomething yes exactly. The database file is encrypted (full encrypted, not like lastpass which only encrypts user and pw fields…). As I‘m a iPhone user I used iCloud to store my DB file, but somehow did not sync probably with my Windows PC (iCloud sucks on windows). So I ended up with Google Drive and use the app Strongbox on iPhone. This combination syncs on the fly. But if you have a NAS is surely the better way to go. You could also use a extra keyfile to decrypt the DB which you store locally on your devices for even more security. Also give a quick look into the Documentation and FAQ of KeyPassXC. Just be sure to use XC version.

Disclaimer - within reason I am not at all price-sensitive when it comes to the price of my password manager (and also my backup software) since I view those two as such critical functionality. $30 a year or $60 a year really is neither here nor there for me when the security of all of my online banking and other critical sites are concerned so I chose solely on the basis of features rather than cost. On that basis it was Keeper that I chose now that I’ve ditched LastPass after its latest security breach. What made Keeper stand out for me was the security. Yes, every reputable password manager encrypts the vault with AES-256 but what I like about keeper is that a vault is not a single encrypted blob all encrypted using the same key, rather each record in a user’s vault is encrypted individually using a different random AES key. Also, as another minor point that I think shows the difference in attitude between LastPass and Keeper, LastPass was happy to leave old users with their accounts set to only do 5,000 PBKDF2 iterations when many experts now recommend a minimum of 300,000. Keeper’s default is 1,000,000 iterations. I know that many people will perfectly reasonably say that a single AES-256 key for the vault with 300,000 PBKDF2 iterations on the master password is more than sufficient but when it comes to the security of my passwords, especially after this LastPass breach, I find total overkill quite reassuring.

one thing you forgot to test is the customer service/support. This is also very important. I found this lacking in almost every product, in fact even the pre-sales was rubbish and took a lot of effort and chasing to get answers. I ended up going for Bitwarden, it had all the features I needed, and the support was more responsive than the others, plus the cheapest as well. The real downside of Bitwarden is the interface, its so basic and not very intuitive and I think people who are rubbish with computers and non technical would struggle with it. Its definately more for IT people. The sharing aspect is also a bit weird compared to others. Basically, you have a personal vault for your own stuff that is not shared with anyone, and an organization vault for sharing with your company, this includes the family plan, which is just an organization. This means you cannot separate your personal and work passwords into different vaults, unless you have multiple accounts. If you want to manage clients passwords, just create an Organization for them.

I did try 1password but didn't like it but forgot why. One big issue is I lost the key that you have to have to log in, I do not think that was why I didn't like it though as I lost that after I found I didn't like it. Also I do not share passwords so that feature is not needed. never used it with last pass. However looking at my bitwarden app I see a send option and looks like I can send to anyone. You criticized LastPass for security issues, but never talked at all about any security features of the others (e.g. encryption algorithms). Other than not having any publicly known breaches, what makes their security better? Luck? Despite its recent "breaches" there is no evidence that any user vaults were compromised. To me, that speaks volumes about the real security infrastructure at LastPass. Most of the media coverage of the LastPass breaches has been driven by its competitors who obviously want to present the worst possible interpretation of the recent events. I use a very long and complex Master Password for my LastPass account and am not horribly concerned about the potential that my vault could be compromised. If a password manager is going to impress me today, they better be working on encryption methods that make the data safe/r from quantum computer attacks.

Right, because 3 competitors would all sponsor the same video. That’s not how it works friend 😂 this video is not sponsored, but I have affiliate links to everything - including LastPass.

LastPass got hacked again and i think people must not review it anymore. EnPass, Bitwarden, Roboform are best options to go for. I have been using roboform 3 since last 8 years and now i moved to bitwarden and enpass not because roboform is not good but to shrink my budget for password manager. Otherwise Roboform is on my top priority list.

Agree, RoboForm is very good, been using it for 12 years and have just in the last 3 months tried Bitwarden pro to see how it compares and I have to say its still takes the cake over Bitwarden

I just moved away from LastPass, and I really miss some of its functionalities. I have about 100+ different logins for a website consisting of 4 different domains. With LastPass, I just need to add all the 4 domains into the configuration, allowing the logins to be applicable for all. It's a one step action. In 1Password which I've newly subscribed, yes, each login can be added with multiple urls it's supported, and that's the only way. To support all four domains for all 100+ logins I have, I have to enter each URL manually, total of 100*4 = 400 steps. 🥲 Other than this, 1Password is very potential, loving it's simplicity. It has CLI allowing little scripting for coded actions. But the CLI features are still growing, not every use cases are covered at this point of time. And most importantly, I think it has our passwords protected in the most secured way!
