Also I don't think they mention this but in dream eaters, Luke is the only investigator in the box who doesnt have survivor as part of their deck building options. And in Dunwich I think it's not explained in the video that Dunwich deck building (lv 0-5 main class and 5 lv 0 of any class) does mean that all of those investigators have survivor access. Lastly as a enjoyer of true solo, Ashcan Pete is one of the strongest Investigators you can choose to play in most campaigns. He can clear two locations in 1 turn pretty easily a lot of the time and is one of the most forgiving characters to build for, any choices that didn't work the way you hoped can just be turned into duke treats.

Hi, new player here, so I'm not familiar with all the cards. How can Ashcan Pete clear two locations in 1 turn? Doesn't Duke exhaust after you use him?

@dalenesbitt Ashcan Pete's ability is to discard a card and ready an asset, so you can use Duke twice a turn, thats what i mean by Duke treats

Justin and company.. I wouldn’t mind seeing a video discussing different play styles and the pros and cons of each. For example, I like to throw cards in my hand to boost tests as much as I can, my theory is that if the card is in my hand it’s not doing anything anyway. This cycles my deck and I’ll draw into these cards again eventually. My friend on the other hand, he likes to hold on to max hand size and doesn’t like committing cards to tests because he wants to eventually play them. I’d love to hear your opinions on it.

9:10 Can't wait for The Burnings Sands of the Desert! I'm thinking back to Pnakotus, the City of Archives from TFA and The Shadow Out if Time. Because, you know, it's currently under a desert. But this time in the present. The City is underground, in ruins. There are invisible things shuffling, leaving footprints in the dust among the crumbled rocks. There are trapdoors leading to vast underground caverns full of dangers and mystery... Damn, I really want a Pnakotus expansion! Or a Egypt thing, because we didn't really to get explore the pyramids and the ruins in the Egypt standalones. And Of Sphinx and Sands custom campaign was kinda underwhelming

carcosa and circle undone are the expansion-expansions...... well good thing i bought these 2 first xD (but honestly I think the best new palyer-cards to get after the core set are the investigator decks. They built such a fine foundation, that every box after that will feel like a useful addition to your cardpool)

A suggestion: Show the class investigator(s) you get in the expansion, just so it is easier to check up for people who aren't as familiar with the game as you guys.

We mentioned them when they are particularly relevant for being a pro or con for buying the expansion. This cycle is particularly about the player cards, it's a whole other ball game when it comes to investigator recommendations.

But when you then mention a character like Will Yorrick, I would have to go look him up if I wanted to know what he does and why he's even relevant. Which takes my focus away from the video and discussion. It's not about whether the characters are good, it's about why they're relevant to the discussion of the player cards. It can also be an issue when you start going "and it combos with

Honestly, this may be a controversial take for a KZbin creator, but I'd rather our viewers take agency and look up cards that they don't know. If someone has to pause the video, close the video, to open up ArkhamDB or Arkham Cards or go through their own collection to look up a card, it will do better for them learning the game than us listing every card we talk about. People may not agree with this, but viewers have their own agency to go look up cards they don't know about. Constantly browsing one's collection or the player cards is a good way to internalize; a lot more than us showing every card on the screen that we talk about, in my opinion. Again, I don't expect people to agree with this, but it's my firm belief on it.

@@PlayingBoardGames That's your choice, but from my perspective that means you're actively making your content less attractive to new players. Especially when you're slinging out names of 2+ cards for use with one that's on screen. Every time a viewer has to check a different source to follow along, is a point of them potentially going "Bugger this, I'll watch someone else". I'm just trying to convince you to make your new player content better for new players, so they will want to go through more of it. It would definitely be more work, since you'd need to set up slides for "cards this works with", but I think it would be worth it in the long run.

I'll look at including the front side of the investigators in the box for the next video in this series. You're right that it is more relevant than I initially thought. I don't know how well we can manage about non-listed cards that come up, but if it happens I can try and give more context on the card to explain what it does. I appreciate you sharing these thoughts. Even if my sentiment is that I think people looking up cards is good, maybe I need to be less firm and more flexible with it.

I haven't looked much so you might have already done this, but if you need more ideas for your mile long list, a video looking at the offclass cards for trait based investigators could be cool (like relics for ursula, uses(charges) for akachi, tactics for Mark, etc)

Maybe you already know this, but just in case, in Arkhamdb you can filter cards by trait and get a list of the offclass cards for an investigator that way

"best" is definitely subjective but for my money the test at 0 archetype from TSK would be my number 1, especially with Darrel and Scavenging being a core set card.

The caveat to dream eaters is that if you only have the core and dream eater you will not have enough cards to play the dream eater expansion as it requires 2 decks per player and 2 of the investigators require larger than normal deck. Trying to make it work as my first expansion was by far the worst board gaming experience of my life.

Is Darrell worth playing without the Test at 0 suite? I wont be able to use the Test at 0 cards due to 4p shared card pool.

@@Hybridtheory2007 He still has 5 book and a very strong ability, so he's worth playing. Realistically, he is the best at test at 0, so you'll want to make sure the investigator taking those cards can use them better than Darrell.
