I have been boating since 2006. Bout my first 185ls stingray ant the show for 21500. Had a blast. Sold it in 2018 for 13000. Bought a 2011 208 stingray with 100 hours for 18500. Had an offer this year for 30000. I say if you buy used and right. Boating won’t cost you much more than fuel amd insurance . I had even better experience with my jet skis.

Going to a boat dealer tomorrow for the first time in the looking/talking/buying process.I've never bought a new car from a dealer much less a boat and am fearing the worst ie. getting the stereotypical "salesman" routine/treatment and being taken advantage of.I can only hope they are as genuine and level headed as you seem to be.

I have a 2023 Yamaha 195S,, and the wifey wants the 222SD. I reached out to the dealer I bought my boat from and he wanted to give me absolutely no money for the trade. Kinda surprised with only 14 or 15 hours on my boat. Maybe hit up another dealer. The 195S is a great little boat, but as they say, happy wife, happy life.

That is unfortunate. That boat should have only depreciated about 15% at retail in one year (max)

Years back I built a 300 ft wooden boat with berths for my family and plenty of space for a variety of animals. It was a great time to build a boat because it ended up raining for a few years and everything flooded. Guys with little center consoles didn’t fare well.

All this said ..ove read alot of the comments. I bought and read a thos book. How to buy and sell new and used cars. The concept is the same. Know the market. The best way to Buy Anything is from a distressed seller. Have money/cash Cash is King.

In general yes. This year (and last) saw all boat values hold pretty firm year round due to the low supply. It may take another year or so to get back to “normal “

Well that stinks, I already broke #2. They actually told me to sell it myself to get more. Also, price difference right now between a 2020 and a 2019, same boat, same electronics and TM, on their lot I’m looking at statewide, is at least 6k. Varies by 2-4-/+ k nation wide. Last year I waited and they ran out, or the dealer added all kinds of upgrades, useless to me, and the price stayed or exceeded original price. I’ve found timing the purchase of a boat has been a huge struggle!

That is why you should make a good relationship with your local dealer that has the brand you want. Tell them your struggles, and ask for help. If they aren't receptive, look for the highest rated dealer as close to you as possible.
