In this video, Eli breaks down the best tool for cutting corrugated cardboard. However, there is no simple answer, and all three tools (scissors, a mini hobby knife, and a utility knife) all have a unique purpose and are good at different things when it comes to cutting cardboard. Scissors are not the best tool for cutting cardboard, but they can make nice small cuts on thin corrugated cardboard. A mini hobby/Exacto knife can achieve a lot of detail and cut clean curves. It would be the best tool for cutting cardboard if it didn't struggle with making lots of big cuts through thick corrugated cardboard. Lastly, a full-size utility knife can easily cut through thick corrugated cardboard but isn't as good as the hobby knife at making curves and details. In the end, if you plan on making smaller, more detailed crafts, a mini hobby knife is the best tool, but if you want to make bigger projects then a utility knife will be the best tool.

I just discovered your channel. I have been cutting straight on a table. I knew the blades were going through the table, but I ignored it. Now I just picked up a cutting mat and it is so much better. Thank you!

Like you said, a cutting mat is really nice and it improves everything about cutting cardboard by giving you cleaner and easier cuts and preserving the sharpness of your knife blades. God bless you! If I have big cuts to make I use an oscillator tool with a hook blade. It cuts accurate curves easily and goes very fast.

I only use the special blades when my other blades are dull. When your blade isn't sharp it damages the cardboard. 🤗

Yeah, dull blades make cutting cardboard a much worse experience. Every time I replace my blades I am a little surprised by how much easier it is to cut the cardboard. Have a blessed day! - Eli

Utility or serrated kitchen/tool scissors are the best alternative to regular scissors.

I gathered all my scissors I stored away and had all 27 sharpened... Yeah, I don't throw my scissor away that's why I have an old 20 year old pair... LOL
