There was definitely a younger audience voting in these polls (which obviously isn't surprising). I think if the voters were AFOLs the results would be very different. The choices of themes are also bizarre. How are older themes like Blacktron, Bionicle, and Galidor here but not other older themes like Pirates, Classic Space, Castle, Kingdoms, and Adventures. That's without even mentioning City/Town.

One thing to note in this tournament is that it seems like the newer blood seem to have more of a established fan base than the older blood which then in turn makes them do better in the tournament.

Yeah I think it largely shows the demographics. For Chima to beat Bionicle shows that it’s a largely younger audience. If you didn’t grow up with bionicle it’s hard to be as dedicated to it.

Honestly not surprised that Ninjago won. Monkie Kid is only on it's third year and doesn't have the same popularity as Ninjago just yet. All around a fun video to watch and see the results to!

Monkie Kid is actually MORE popular in china. And thats what it is made for. (I guess because ninjago is 1. "too japanese" (they rly dont like each other) and 2. has alot of skulls in it , which are problematic in china. Ninjago basically has 0 appreance in China. And vice versa Monkey Kid isnt very known here since u basically can only get it on the legostore itself. Personally i like Monkie Kid more despite being a japan-fan. The show is endlessly better and i also very like the sets a bit more. But i totaly understand the ninjago-fans, its a great franchise too

I have love for both themes. Ninjago is the one I grew up with, me and my brother also had watched it together all the time, it was our late-night shows we spent all day watching along with Pokémon XYZ. It holds a special place in my heart, and will no doubt be one of my favorite shows of all time, I still love it and I always will go back to it and watch it with my brother again. While Monkie Kid I've been watching on my own and lately with a friend, only a few years of content in and I'm already excited for what's yet to come. It has loads of potential to be a long-lasting theme and fan favorite just like Ninjago.

Its all a matter of opinion: my favorites are Monster Fighters and Space Police personally with Monster Fighters at the top. These themes along with Chinese New Year are the only non-licensed lego themes I ever put my money into. I would have gotten into Adventures as well if the after market prices weren't so ludicrous

Hmm... WHy was ninjalego on the tournament anyways? Its obvious that it was going to win, as it literally has the longest lifespan of any unlinsenced LEGO theme of all time. 10 years I tell you... 10 years of milking this franchise. COmpletely unfair, as other themes probably only live for 2 years or so. One fifth of ninjago's lifespan. Wished chima had taken the throne though. Such missed opportunities.

People bash nexo knights but till this day it's still the 2nd most successful unlicensed theme monkie kid hasn't passed it yet and I know it will some people say monkie kid is the best in My opinion Ninjago is hand's Down but monkie kid feels like a nexo knights and Ninjago crossover it feels like it shouldn't be where it is but it's more of a china theme so I guess it'd be a really bad thing actually if it ended seeing it from a one view But just my opinion Ninjago forever #1 it's got to much history and love forever #2 nexo knights it deserved better than people gave it #3 Galaxy squad something about those guy was just so cool and finally #4 power miners once I actually learned the meaning of it I liked it

This was easy to predit. The older themes were obviously gonna lose, because ppl nowadays didn't get to experience them as much. Monkie kid was obvious to break thru' opponents as well because of... actually to this day I have no idea what was so great about monkey kid... And Ninjago. Ninjago is just... Universal per se. Multi generational. You know there are always going to be ppl that love some good old ninjas.

Hey cool, a chance to give opinions on all of them. Ninjago - It was obvious that Ninjago was going to win lol. Show has a dedicated fanbase and there have been so many sets over years it's inevitable it gets the variance covered. For my liking, I do enjoy the show (especially the Wildbrain era), and there have been enough enjoyable sets from it. That being said, I much prefer the TLNM sets despite that being a mere two waves. There was so much creativity poured into that. Monkie Kid - Has a massive fanbase beyond the realm of LEGO, so not surprised it came up strong here. Show is fun, not totally hooked on it like others, and the sets...some are really fun and unique, others feel like they're trying to pad out the premium line they're aiming for. Legends of Chima - On paper should be a great theme for me, since I love animal stuff. And the sets that lean into that seem nice (although there seem to be too many of the little packs compared to proper sets). Too bad I couldn't stand watching the first episode and didn't bother to watch any after. Nexo Knights - Nice theme. The show was super fun if a bit formulaic. The sets sort of have an issue with variance (granted, something that was improved in later waves), but you cannot tell me the Fortrex isn't an iconic base. Hidden Side - Kinda mixed on this one. On the one hand it had some of the best location sets of any theme (shrimp shack ftw) and the web cartoon was fairly enjoyable. On the other hand, the other sets were pretty non-descript, and the show was just okay. The characters were fairly sweet, but the episodes were very samey and the whole thing was very flat. Bionicle - Never liked this theme, both the sets themselves and what I’ve seen of the multimedia. There’s just way too much to take in for a newcomer, and their designs just completely put me off. Bear in mind, I’m not opposed to Technic having action themes in principle (in fact, the first sets I was bought after the Freestyle bucket in infancy were Granite from Slizer and Lava from Robo Riders), but the way this one was done with being entirely mask-based...no thanks. Monster Fighters - I really have no experience with this theme aside from thinking Rodney Rathbone and Ann Lee are pretty cool. I know there’s a story with some stones and a haunted house set people love, but I’m not a horror/universal monster fan so it’s never piqued my interest. Atlantis - It looks okay. Animal faction and the environment builds range from fine to awesome, but the hero faction are hardly worth writing home about. The short film as rudimentary as it is does help bring some appeal though, I especially like Professor Rhodes in that one. Galidor - It seems alright. People like to trot out the McDonald's promo, but owning one of the actual figures from the line, they seem about average for articulated figures of the time. And the show seems like it fits right in with the British kids sci-fi boon of the late 90’s/early 00’s, so that doesn’t particularly get my goat either. Was it ill-advised for LEGO to stretch its portfolio that much? Probably, but that’s not the fault of the theme itself. Exo-Force - I get it, anime was having a boom in the West and LEGO wanted to cash in on it. I wish they had paused to check if it was a good idea, because it was not. Even if the character design was fantastic (they’re generic at best), the approach to the minifigure design was bizarre in a way that outdoes characters like Tim Timebuster even. Plus most of the sets are mechs, which isn’t great. Blacktron - It’s...a thing. Look, I’m really not interested in sets prior to, say, 1989, so looking at the original Blacktron it just looks rudimentary to me. You might have a stronger argument with Blacktron II, but that’s a completely different design approach. Galaxy Squad - Out of all the Space themes, this is probably the most forgettable. Aside from the gimmick of the factions, what does it have going for it? The insect enemies? Cool in concept, but there aren’t enough of them. The lore with Solomon Blaze coming back for Ultra Agents was neat though. Pharaoh’s Quest - Aka LEGO’s second attempt to cash in on Indiana Jones. Joke’s aside, as much as it could be seen as a callback to Adventurer’s first wave, I think it’s neat they went back to take a whole new approach with it, feels fresh even if we have had a pyramid before and the like. Jake Raines is no Johnny Thunder though. Alien Conquest - This one’s kind of fun in how unique it is. Instead of a space with astronauts and all conventional spaceships, the perspective is flipped so it’s the aliens on Earth. Certainly seems like the designers didn’t hold back on the references to alien invasions in pop culture. Sets in of themselves aren’t too appealing to me though. Hero Factory - I know nothing about this theme lmao. I’ve heard of it plenty of times, but all I know is that it’s kind of a successor to Bionicle, but it has a more simplified good vs evil fight at its core. Taking a quick glance at them on Brickset...the designs look a bit better than Bionicle, but still not enough to make me interested in knowing more about the theme (or the show which exists apparently?). Power Miners - Why are there so many mining themes, mining is not interesting or exciting. And this theme doesn’t help itself with pretty indistinct characters and enemies who...are okay I think. Certainly seem like they were the blueprint for the later Nexo Knights enemies. Technically there’s a movie for this theme too but it’s just an extra-long commercial.
