I am currently a Protestant. Several months ago, I felt a strong urge to get down on my knees and pray to God. I asked Him, "Lord, please show me the church you want me to go to. What is the true church you want me to belong to?" I was expecting the Lord to guide me to a Protestant church. I never thought I would find myself seriously considering the Catholic Church. It all started with an intense interest in learning about the early church. As I delved deeper, Orthodox Christianity began to call out to me in a profound way. It's hard to explain, but it felt like a push from deep within my heart and soul towards the church. At the same time, I continued to pray in the personal, Protestant manner I was accustomed to. Within me, I started to feel the need for a prayer that had deeper meaning, or at least a prayer that connected me not just to Protestants, but to all my brothers and sisters in Christ. So, I began saying the Our Father every morning, along with a personal prayer. Then, I added the Apostle's Creed to my daily routine. I also began reading one psalm each day, followed by prayer. Eventually, I discovered the Jesus Prayer. This introduced a conflict in my mind because, as a Protestant, I was taught not to do repetitive prayers. However, I thought, if other Christians are doing it, maybe there's something I don't fully understand. So, I decided to start saying the Jesus Prayer. I bought a 10-bead prayer rope from a Catholic store to help me with this practice. To my surprise, after incorporating the Jesus Prayer into my routine, I felt much closer and stronger in my faith and in my relationship with God. This was unexpected. I also started saying the Glory Be prayer ten times a day. Through these practices, I began to realize that there might be more to our faith-perhaps there's more in the original tradition of Christianity that our Protestant churches might not fully capture. It's a long story how I initially became a Christian, but I encountered another conflict that made me hesitant about joining the Orthodox or Catholic Church. This conflict centered around Mary, the Mother of God. I didn't understand what I know now, and I still feel some reluctance to ask for her intercession. However, a couple of significant things happened. I had a dream where I found myself in a dark place. It wasn't a room, but rather a desolate land shrouded in darkness. I was trying to hide from menacing figures-dark shadows that wanted to harm me. Initially, I was brave, but fear took over when I realized they sensed my fear. Suddenly, everything turned white, with light shining everywhere. A woman appeared in the distance, standing silently and not looking at me, but at them. The shadows stopped and said, "Do you see who that is? Don't touch him." Another one asked, "What is she doing here?" And another replied, "It's the God-bearer, the Mother of God." They ran away. She never said a word; she just looked at them, and then she left. I woke up. I was so conflicted in the following days, even for several weeks. I didn't know what to make of it. It wasn't something I could easily discuss with my Protestant friends or a Protestant pastor. When I was younger, I used to pray to God for help, simply saying, "God, help me with this" or "God, help me with that." One night, when we couldn't find my father, I prayed, "God, please help us find our dad." Suddenly, it was like a switch flipped in my mind. I remembered that every time I prayed in the name of Jesus, things actually happened, but not when I prayed just to God. This realization stayed with me for years. I wondered, "Father God, why is it that things happen only when I pray in Jesus' name?" Years later, I understood that He was pointing me to His Son. If He hadn't taught me that, I might not have become a Christian. I knew then that He had guided me to Jesus. We did end up finding my father. He actually reached out to me the morning after the night I prayed to Jesus for help. Now, after asking the Lord to help me find the true church, I feel like He is pointing me to His mother to guide me further. When I was searching for an Orthodox church to visit, I felt discouraged because many of them seemed very nationalistic-one was Russian, another was Romanian, and so on. I felt I wouldn't be accepted if I wasn't part of that culture, so I didn't end up going to any of them. I thought maybe there's an American one, so I started looking and found the Orthodox Church in America. I planned to go, but something always came up, and I didn't end up going. I was still considering it, but then I started to look into why Orthodox Christians and Catholics are not united. I discovered the main issue is the Pope. This question became crucial: if the Pope is supposed to be the leader of the Church, then the Catholic Church is the true Church. But if not, and the church is supposed to be broken up into independent districts, then I was back to square one, questioning why I should listen to bishops from other countries and cultures. The idea of apostolic succession also intrigued me. However, I found out that even among Orthodox Christians, there is conflict. The two Ukrainian Orthodox churches are in conflict with each other, and there are disputes between Ukrainian, Russian, and Greek Orthodox churches. They claim to be united, but in reality, they are not. I didn't want to join a church divided by national lines-that's not how it should be. So, I started looking more into the arguments for and against the Pope from both Orthodox and Catholic perspectives. I concluded that the Pope is supposed to be the leader of the Church. I also learned about the Byzantine Rite and felt that I had found a place I want to go to. That's my story. I'm still going through this journey, and I ask everyone who reads my story to please pray for me. Ever since I've figured this out, I've been under more intense spiritual attack than ever before. Wow that is truly amazing man. The mother of God came to you in your dream the evil spirits were afraid of her and Mary does point us to her Son! That's the primary role of Mary that Protestants just don't see because they're looking at it from a hateful perspective. Think of it this way, you wouldn't go up to your friend and say "I hate your mother or she's insignificant she just birthed you that's it" But I clearly saw you being pointed towards the Catholic Church where the Orthodox Church, personally I am a Roman Rite Catholic, My brother and I were both feeling a pull towards orthodoxy, My brother did the same thing he was praying and doing research and then all the sudden he realized that the Byzantine Rite was a thing. It's been a few months since I've attended a Byzantine church, but my first experience was straight up wonder and awe and I pray that our Protestant brothers and sisters hearts be softened and they get deeper into their prayer instead of looking at things on a surface level. Amazing to hear. I was an Evangelical who's been Byzantine Catholic since 2004. St. Cyprian, bishop of Carthage “The Lord says to Peter: ‘I say to you,’ he says, ‘that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it. And to you I will give the keys of the kingdom of heaven . . . ’ [Matt. 16:18-19]. On him [Peter] he builds the Church, and to him he gives the command to feed the sheep [John 21:17], and although he assigns a like power to all the apostles, yet he founded a single chair [cathedra], and he established by his own authority a source and an intrinsic reason for that unity. Indeed, the others were that also which Peter was [i.e., apostles], but a primacy is given to Peter, whereby it is made clear that there is but one Church and one chair. . . . If someone does not hold fast to this unity of Peter, can he imagine that he still holds the faith? I have come to this church as a member and now will move to Poland but the city I go to there are many Ukrainian Catholic churches as after world war 2 many Ukrainian moved there, this city is know for being Prussian, German and now Polish with many Ukrainians many since this needless war on Ukraine. My wife is Ukrainian and we shall raise our sons in this faith and she loves that as the husband and father is leader of the family and Priest of the family. I am formerly a Methodist, now schism there with LBGT groups taking over and infiltrating. Thank God for this faith as I love it and it's expression of God's love and our love for God as I want all my family in direct prayer to our lord and direct relationship with God, Christ and experience manifestation of the Holy Spirit..

I just recently learned there are 23 churches outside of the Roman Latin rite in communion with Rome and the Pope. I’d love to see even more videos on all the parts of what makes this rite unique, history, etc!

@@Compulsive-Elk7103 The filioque is what divided catholics from eastern orthodox. It was added to the Nicene Creed in Spain and it means "and from the Son" meaning that the Holy Ghost not only proceeds from the father but also from the Son. So when he says that eastern catholics don´t follow the Filoque, it means that they are literally Orthodox Christians who have accepted the Pope.

Bless you father! My family was historically Ruthenian Byzantine Catholic...and we are contemplating it now. It is such a truly beautiful faith. I have been reading the theology and it brings me to tears!

There is only one Eastern Catholic Church within a somewhat reasonable driving distance for me, but it’s far enough away that gas money to travel there every week would severely eat into my ability to pay rent and buy groceries. Would a canonical transfer eventually be possible if I were to go once a month and attend mass the rest of the time. I eagerly wish to join the Ruthenian Church.

The world needs to know more about the other rites of the Catholic Church. Oh, how it grates me when I hear a Protestant calling the Church the Roman Catholic Church, or RCC. And how it's sometimes done in a derisive way, as though to say that our church was started by Romans, or by Constantine or something.

I am Latin rite born in Poland and I am 85 years old. I acknowledge that Novus Ordo Mass is valid but I remember more and more the Old Mass. I read about the origin of the new Mass and I get a painful feeling each Sunday during the Mass. I just need a to attend a Mass with the Celebrant facing God not the people. Should I seek a Byzantine Church or a FSSX or a SSPX? Any advice?

I am not trying to attack the faith, I know how some of these questions sound. There are more too. I am just trying to get answers to questions most people don't want to go near. I don't understand why. Why are the demons of the Catholic faith hidden? Why aren’t they openly taught with the good? When I was going though CCD and whatnot, I was never even aware of the demons. Jesus Christ himself rid demons from a man in Mark 5:1-20 and Luke 8:26-39. This is a real threat to humanity. Why aren’t we taught about this? Why does Easter and Christmas line up with the ancient Egyptian holidays? Was Ishtar, pronounced easter, the goddess of fertility in Egypt and that is why we have rabbits and hide eggs? Was Christmas adopted from the Egyptian tradition of sacrificing children to Horus the sun god of Egypt? Or sacrificing children to Molech in Leviticus? Are Biblical scholars correct when they say that the Birth of Christ was not on Dec 25 but it was actually Horus? They also claim that the Resurrection took place on a Tuesday, not a Sunday. Is making the sign of the cross before and after prayer demonic in nature? What is the history behind making the sign of the cross? I was taught; With the right hand, touch your forehead, heart, left shoulder then right shoulder. The cross looks upside down when you look at it. What are the apocryphal texts and why were they removed from different versions of the Bible? Protestant Bible, 66 books (39 Old Testament (OT), 27 New Testament (NT)) Catholic Bible, 73 books (46 OT, 27 NT) Greek and Russian Orthodox, 79 (52 OT, 27 NT) Ethiopian Orthodox, 81 - (54 OT, 27 NT. Why was Psalm 151 removed from the Bible? As far as I know its David's speech after his victory over Goliath.

The PURPOSE of DOING so much WORK is to GET this GROUP of PEOPLE, to GET the TESTIMONY of this GROUP OF PEOPLE to Him, and to ACHIEVE the GLORY He can GET from them. He does no work in vain, nor does He do any work worthless. It can be said that, in doing so many works, GOD'S PURPOSE is to make PERFECT EVERYTHING He WANTS to make PERFECT. In any free time He has outside of it, He will remove those who are evil. ☀️ You must know that He does not do this great work because of the wicked; rather, He gives His all because of the few people He will make perfect. The WORK He DOES, the WORDS He SPEAKS, the MYSTERIES He REVEALS, and His JUDGMENT and PUNISHMENT are ALL for the sane of those FEW PEOPLE. 🙏 He did NOT become a MAN because of those who were BAD, and especially they did NOT provoke Him to anger so much. He tells the TRUTH, and SPEAKS of ENTERING, because of PERFECT WORKS; He became MAN because of them, and because of them He could grant His PROMISES and BLESSINGS. ☀️ The truth, entrance, and life in humanity that He speaks of is not labored for the sake of the wicked. He WANTS to AVOID TALKING to those who are BAD, INSTEAD He WANTS to GRANT all the TRUTH to those who will be made PERFECT. But His work requires that, for the time being, He allows the WICKED to ENJOY some of His RICHES. Those who do not practice the truth, do not please God, and interfere with His work are all evil. They CANNOT BE MADE PERFECT, and GOD HATES and REJECTS them. 😪 On the other hand, PEOPLE WHO DO the TRUTH and PLEASE GOD and SPEND their WHOLE SELF in GOD'S WORK are the PEOPLE GOD WILL MAKE PERFECT. 🙏 Those whom GOD wants to make PERFECT are none other than this GROUP of PEOPLE, and the WORK GOD DOES is for the BENEFIT of these PEOPLE. The truth He speaks is for those who are WILLING to DO it. He does not speak to people who do not practice the truth. ☀️ The growth of knowledge and the growth of understanding that He says is aimed at those who can practice the truth. When He speaks of those who will be made perfect, He is speaking of these people. The WORK of the HOLY SPIRIT is FOCUSED on PEOPLE who CAN do the TRUTH. 🙏 Things like having wisdom and being human are dedicated to people who are WILLING to DO the TRUTH. Those who DO NOT PRACTICE the TRUTH may HEAR MANY WORDS of TRUTH, BUT BECAUSE they are by NATURE VERY EVIL and are NOT INTERESTED in the TRUTH, all they understand are doctrines and words and empty theories, which have not the slightest value for upon their entry into life. You mention the process of a Roman Catholic canonically transferring rites. But what about Protestants? Obviously, this is much more of a conversion experience, but how does the process differ from a Protestant conversion into the Roman Rite?

This is something of a guess because I am Roman Rite (and am blessed to also have a wonderful Byzantine parish in my neighborhood!) but it’s probably a similar process to what we call RCIA in the Roman Rite (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults; I think they just changed Rite to Order?), so that the person wishing to convert receives instruction on what we believe, professes that same belief, and is welcomed into the Church.

YES, a Catholic can attend Divine Liturgy(Mass) in ALL Catholic Churches. I'm Byzantine Catholic who occasionally attends daily Mass at a nearby Roman Rite.

I'm not the priest you expected but here we are. James 5:16 : confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. This clearly states to confess your sins to other people.

The sacrament of confession is rooted in the mission God gave to Christ in his capacity as the Son of man on earth to go and forgive sins (see Matt. 9:6). Thus, the crowds who witnessed this new power “glorified God, who had given such authority to men” (Matt. 9:8; note the plural “men”). I dont get it. Catholic church comes from a egomaniac bishop declaring himself highest bishop of all, while he lived in a broken down rome that needed repairs from byzantine, where most other bishops and the power resided from 250 ad to around 1000 ad. How is there a byzantine catholic church that makes sense?

The Catholic Church has had many Rites since the very start. The bishop of Rome is simply who is the head of the entire Catholic Church.
