Fun fact: De Tomaso's cars use Ford engines. Putting a modern Ford engine into the Pantera is still keeping true to its lineage. Even the P72 uses a Coyote V8 from the 2018 Mustang GT, but is Supercharged!

That's done intentionally as many of the engine swaps with actual thought behind it. The MX-5/Miata/Roadster/ND LS swap is also another example and as crazy as it sounds, people have done this in real life.

Just to clarify for people wondering why the cheaper engines have such unusual cost values… 100,000 of the credits you spend is actually for the engine swap service. So the actual prices of the engines are 100,000 cheaper than shown here. And those prices in turn are half the value of the source car.

Source? Though IRL, engine swaps are not a cheap thing to do. Especially when you have to mate parts foreign to one another like the transmission, computer, etc. I'd like to think that in some cases, the service cost portion is more due to the complexity of the swap.
