My husband and I won't be backpackers per say but considering we won't be using a car we will be relying on public transport. We're hoping to go to Wellington for a week as tourists. We plan on staying in a Air bnb or hotel with a full kitchen so we can eat most of our meals at our accommodation (I'm thinking 2 meals a day at home and 1 out a day). We're in Australia, so we won't have huge costs with airline prices if we book at the right time. As for tours, I may do a LOTR related tour but still researching to see what's the best fit for me, and what the reviews are on the ones in Wellington. I plan on hiking and walking most places. We're cleaners so we're used to being active and on our feet a lot. We're not huge souvenir people unless it's really unique and not too "touristy" feeling. No "Wellington" magnets for us but maybe something out of the Weta gift shop. How much money would you think we should budget for what I described? Thanks so much!

Hi guys, loving your useful and informative blogs/website. When proving you are over 18, can you use your old passport? Many Thanks
@NZPocketGuide6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words Matthew :) To answer your question: In NZ (like in most countries) when any kind of ID expires, it is no longer valid so if your passport is expired, it is inadmissible as a proof of age. Get yourself an Hanz 18+ card -> www.backpackerguide.nz/get-id-card-new-zealand/ But you need a valid passport to get on the plane back home, so you might want to sort that out before the end of your trip :)

Please can you ask Laura to try to nod her head less? It's really off putting when the other guy is talking, all I could watch was her nodding head.... Haha

Hey thanks for the honest feedback Dale! We are still figuring out a good format for those so any note is appreciated! We'll keep that in mind. (But to be frank, she is the better looking of us both so everybody always looks at her haha)
