Thanks so much, this was so interesting 😀 I’m trying to learn everything I can about Western riding & natural horsemanship. We’re buying a bitless bridle for our horse, he rides really well in a rope halter and my friend has an old western saddle in her tack room so we’re hoping that will fit him, so we can try him with that too🤞

Good luck! If he rides good in a halter I’d recommend a good old sidepull hackamore. I should make an updated video on my favorite hackamores!

Really fascinating! I had no idea. Do you know if there's any reason why riders are expected to hold the reins with their left hand for this one? Thank you for the info!!

I believe its because your right hand will be against the rail, and so they want to see you saluting with that hand towards the crowd

That makes sense!!

I watched the IA PBS State Fair Coverage of the Cowgirl Queens and every one of them, for that salute, made much more of a finger guns thing ~ shaking finger guns all over the place. You’d done an open hand salute in your video as an example. What’s goin on here? Finger guns seems ridiculous to me. No offense to the finger guns folks, of course! 🙃
