Honestly, I never thought it would be possible to make LBP creepy, but the early builds really do have an eerie aesthetic. Almost like a distorted memory or alternate universe version of your childhood where things just aren't quite right. Cool vid.

Y’know whenever I watch videos about milestone 5 it just makes me happy that this version of the game was never used. It’s scary, creepy, eerie, and everything in between. It’s interesting but from the pod music that kinda makes you feel isolated and scared, to the giant space of the cosmos instead of being a bedroom, and the original Sackboy design being kinda creepy and unnerving, and the Cyclops being a creepy robot thing just makes it all creepy. It’s all so dream-like which is probably what they were going for with the old LBP but it just makes it unsettling. I doubt LBP would’ve been that successful if they kept this style around and I’m glad it was changed to the more colorful, friendly version that’s here today.

There's an MM livestream with one of the later milestone builds (probably october 2006) which ran at 1080p60 with similar lighting to LBP1. I tried recording a Milestone 5 recreation in LBP2 on my PS3 connected to my TV (At the time, I didn't have a capture card to record it or PC good enough for rpcs3) and the lighting was just plain weird.

Media Molecules looks like they maded LBP originally darker and aimed at PG rating, but I think they changed the game because the story look too dark to be playable and won’t properly sell. Just imagine if Media Molecules kept the darker story mode was being selected as final

Lbp now is more friendly, their bosses are more kid friendly, I doubt they will bring the Cyclops back it may be too scary for kids but, in lbp online sure.

You know, the video isn't what creeps me out, it's the lack of information we have on The Cyclops. We don't know what he would've done, what he would've been able to do, or anything to that matter. You can tell the story of LBP was originally going to be a lot more dark and sinister, which makes him fit in, but since he was scrapped and then recently he resurfaced, his model can be found in LBP 3 now. It's so weird seeing him right there in high quality too.
