Best to adapt the pipework an install it on the return pipework a above the boiler. If not then as close to the central heating circuit near the 3 port valve. It can be fitted on the flow pipework. Although it won't do much to help filter the boiler. Any filtration is better then none. The Adey atom filters fit well on heat only and system boilers. Especially when there's little clearances.

i moved into an old house with an open fireplace. I've been told there is a "back boiler" which heats the water and radiators when the fire is lit . There is a switch which apparently pumps the hot water into the radiators ? The fire is lit i switch on the pump (i can hear bubbling noise) but no warm radiators or hot water . Can someone explain, why not ?

I suppose the combi would be more expensive as it is fed by the mains? Regular central heating the tank is filled with a set amount of water or am I totally wrong? Was just debating replacing open fire place with a stove and back burner but only heard about this before I started with my original plan. Would this system be the best solution over a stove and back burner?

The heating circuit is closed, the hot water (taps, showers) is mains fed.

whoever named these was very stupid, combi should have been the one suppying both radiator & heat exchanger
