In the second bike you have IS with adapter for Post Mount, no just PM
@WanderABit Жыл бұрын
3:16 this is NOT Post-Mount. This is IS plus adapter/converter to PM.

The errors in this post actually helped me remember the differences between the three different types. So thanks.

Yeah not my best showing. I learned a lot from my viewers on this video. I’m a roadie and a rim brake guy. Disc brakes suck for road bikes. Anyway I left the video up because the comments have taught me a lot of what I didn’t know.

I can see all 3 types of caliper mount there: IS and PM on the tandem and flat mount on the Bottechia. In a previous video you showed a rim brake Bottechia frame which looked quite nice. I'm in the market for a carbon rim brake frame and I've checked their website, sadly, they don't list any rim brake frames/bikes, disc only. Is that an old model?

I think the rim brake frame is only available in their top end bike. I sell Basso and they have top end rim brake frames

Can you convert the bike with a flat mount from 160MM to 140MM rotors? If so, how? Thanks!
@SeeYouUpTheRoad Жыл бұрын
Did your bike come with 160 mm rotors front and rear? I'm curious why you would want to downgrade from 160 mm to 140 mm. I contend that road bikes should actually be on 180 mm rotors in the front and 160 mm rear. 160 mm is already too small and part of the reasons disc brakes have so many issues. Why do you want to go to 140 mm?

Are post mount holes the same distance as IS mount holes? Only that one is facing to the rear / parallel to the wheel and the other is oriented to the side? Also another question, are there adaptors that change flat mounts to post mounts? I could only find adaptors for post to flat. Thanks!
@SeeYouUpTheRoad Жыл бұрын
IS is closer together than post mount holes. And you can only adapt a post mount caliper to a flat mount frame. Not the other way because of spacing. Thanks for watching!!

indeed very true. I’m a rim brake road. All this disc brake stuff is confusing to me. Thanks to smart people like you the viewers will get the real deal. Thanks for watching.

Hello, I just bought a pair of wheels with a center lock system, and currently, my bike has a Tektro MD-C510, Flat Mount (160/160). Can I use a simple adapter from Center Lock to 6 Bolts?
@SeeYouUpTheRoad Жыл бұрын
Why do you need to change the disc rotor locking device? I’m confused by your question.

I have a hybrid bike and looking at this video my bike seems to have flat mount on the forks and post mount on the rear, is this common? I'm ashamed to say I'm still a little confused to be honest
