What is the Difference Between Tahajjud and Qiyam ul Layl and Taraweeh and Witr

U did not mention that also Qiyam Alllayl can be any type of worship. Ie not just prayers, but tasbeeh, reading quran, memorising, etc 😊

Dikr reading Quran is not at all belong to qiyamullail. Its 100% salah. After doing salah n its break u have to say dhikr is good.

For those who differ Tahajud and Tarawih when they are the general same Qiyam. Narrated AbuDharr: We fasted with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ peace and blessings be upon him) during Ramadan, but he did not make us get up at night for prayer at any time during the month till seven nights remained; then he made us get up for prayer till a third of the night had passed. When the sixth remaining night came, he did not make us get up for prayer. When the fifth remaining night came, he made us stand in prayer till a half of the night had gone. So I said: Messenger of Allah, I wish you had led us in supererogatory prayers during the whole of tonight. He said: **When a man prays with an imam till he goes he is reckoned as having spent a whole night in prayer. On the fourth remaining night he did not make us get up. When the third remaining night came, he gathered his family, his wives, and the people and prayed with us till we were afraid we should miss the falah (success).** I said: What is falah? He said: The meal before daybreak. Then he did not make us get up for prayer during the remainder of the month. - Abu Dawud 1375, Book of Ramadan Notice if he prayed 1/3, then 1/2, **then until suhur, then how can tahajud and tarawih be two different things?** Jazak Allahu Khayr!

But sister I have question . I saw a video how to perform qiyamul layl. And the way it is performed is different. Like holding the tesibih and raising the left hand during witr and 70 istighfar ....and usually surah tawhid nas falaq is recited and qunut in between . So it’s different how people usually perform teraweeh or tahajud. I am really confused . Which way can I pray ? . Is it allowed to do both? I hope you can answer me I am desperate jezakilah

Sister,it's easier if you just pray as the sister said and as our Prophet (SAW)prayed as mentioned in the Sunnah, ;if you are praying 4 rakaats Taraweih , make salaam in between after every 2 rakaats (just like you pray the 2 faridhat of your Fajr prayer each set of two)

Iman Abdella the raising the left hands and the 70 things sounds bidaa. These are not prescribed in the sunnah. Make sure to only perform worship the way that is prescribed in the sunnah in sha Allah .

Qiyamul lail as mentioned is night prayer... Could be in any form of worship at night.. it's not a type of prayer, it's types of worship. So it's not restricted to just 1 form of prayer... You could do witr, you could do tahajjud, you could dzikir, you could recite the Quran. Any form of worship.. henceforth standing in the night..

On last ten nights of Ramadan many mosques pray 8 or 20 rakaat Taraweeh, then take a break and pray Qiyam. Is it allowed to do both in congregation?

Bukhari 1147 Narrated Abu Salma bin `Abdur Rahman: I asked `Aisha, How is the prayer of Allah's Apostle during the month of Ramadan. She said, Allah's Apostle never exceeded eleven rak`at in Ramadan or in other months; he used to offer four rak`at-- do not ask me about their beauty and length, then four rak`at, do not ask me about their beauty and length, and then three rak`at. Aisha further said, I said, 'O Allah's Apostle! Do you sleep before offering the witr prayer?' He replied, 'O `Aisha! My eyes sleep but my heart remains awake'!

Witr just means odd number to the Qiyamul layl.
