What is the difference in white roof coatings? Are they all the same?

First, no product is ever gonna work if that roof isn't fixed. Too many water puddles. I don't mean to tell anyone how to do their jobs, but I live in Puerto Rico. All houses here have a concrete roof so I have been dealing with this my whole life, plus yearly hurricanes, scorching heat, and lots of rain. People here, including me, have tried every single product invented ever! The best product is Silicone, however, it is from $289 to $500 per bucket. The next best product is way cheaper and it's extremely good is Urethane. That being said Lancos Urethanizer is $150 and it's amazing. Acrylic is trash, you can throw that away. Anything with Urethane works amazing. There is Lancos Urethanizer, Cano's Nurethane and there are other affordable Urethane products. I've had to become an expert so as everyone here because of how frequently we deal with roof issues so just giving you my 2 cents.

Sounds like you know. Acrylic does not work on flat roof surfaces. We only use it as a base coat under silicone.

@AastroRoofing I've had to become "DYI experts" on this island because of so much rain, hurricanes, and overall bad weather. As a matter of fact, I am trying to pressure wash my roof this week so that I can give it a nice urethane coat. We do that every 2 years just to keep a strong coat because our roofs are concrete, and if water leaks, the steel rods will corrode, and it's a mess.

​@AastroRoofing Bro if you ever get a chance, try Urethanizer from Lanco... You will thank me later. It's self leveling and provides the strongest most durable coat I have ever seen. Btw I don't work for them 😂 Just my 2 cents on this. I'm not an expert.

It is a great product. Be sure to clean and dry the roof thoroughly first. Also consider a primer coat.

Does the silicone make the roof slippery to walk on as to cause a slip and fall hazard????

Only when it is wet. When it is dry it is not slippeey

Are you using the Lanco ultra siliconizer as your silicone top coat? I keep wondering why they call it that when it's still water/acrylic based, the real silicone products are about 3x the price.

Siliconizer is not silicone. Anything that is waterbased should not be used on a flat roof surface, only sloped roof areas.

I have a leak on my gravel roof, would you recommend adding this on top of the gravel or removing the gravel first? Thanks!

I do not recommend trying to restore an old shingle roof. It is best to replace.
