As I have said I'm new to this and have just started an account with the Perth Mint and purchased a few today one being the Brumby you highlighted in a reel before and will be purchasing more.

Glad you’re enjoying your new hobby. The Brumby looks amazing. Next week is the key release from the Perth Mint. The year of the snake coin. I’m going to Perth for the release 👍

RAM has some great designs, like the Coat of Arms series. My RAM collection is much smaller than my Perth Mint collection.

My two, but I do love the RAM silver. It’s wonder what state will come out this year with the coat of arms? Hoping Vic. Thanks so much for watching. Dan

I collect from both mints, same as u by the look of it, and consider both world class but feel the RAM has let itself down with its packaging on its higher quality coins. Perth mint has it all over them in this regard, l really don't want a flimsy cardboard box for my good coins (and expensive) that I wish to display. Cheers Dave
@DantheCollectingMan7 ай бұрын
I totally agree with you! The RAM definitely needs to improve on its packaging! Thanks so much for sharing. Glad you enjoyed my video. Dan
@ozyrob13 ай бұрын
I kind of take the opposite view. I'm happy with the more utilitarian budget packaging especially if it keeps the cost down.

Could you use both currencies made by the two companies?
@DantheCollectingMan3 ай бұрын
The coins made at the Perth mint are not made to go into circulation. More just for show 👍
@ChuckyMcNubbin723 ай бұрын
Both mints produce coins that are legal tender under the Australian currency act and as such can be used for payment of debt.

Great collection. Personally I'm not a fan of the lunar series.. that's not to say that I don't appreciate the art behind them, but it just seems every second release is lunar related, and I'm bored with that - it's one reason why I tend to collect more from the Royal Mint than any other mint. I love visiting the RAM whenever I'm able, though it's about a three-hour drive, so it's only about once per year for me. Love Titan though haha. Hope to get over to visit PM one day.

The last lot of coin it cost me $330 including postage for 7 coins. Thanks Dan. I just released a video on Friday about unboxing it. Thanks Dan

hi quick question just new to this, do the silver coins from Perth Mint come in the plastic cover. Is that the stacker option instead of the pouch or did you put them in your own.
@DantheCollectingMan7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question, when you buy coins individually directly from the mint they mostly come in capsules, some other bullion suppliers may take them from a tube, and only put them in a pouch. You will also see on each coins webpage (Perth Mint) what it comes in, Hope this answer your question. Dan

@@DantheCollectingMan thanks for the reply yes it has helped and will be starting to dable in this world of bullion a little. looking forward in some more of your insight here in the future. cheers.

The primary difference is the perth mint cannot legally produce circulation issue coinage. The official designation is Non Circulating Legal Tender or N.C.L.T for short. Both Perth Mint and the RAM use N.C.L.T when listing coins that aren't meant for circulation. Rennicks also has them listed as N.C.L.T.

I think many of the RAM designs are nicer but because they don't have international collector appeal I guess they may never generally be as valuable. I couldn't help myself, I had to buy thee Vegemite set.

The 1966 round 50c coin is 80% silver. There are no 1966 50c coins made of 90% silver. That 2012 1 ton gold coin is actually 1012 kilograms. It has a face value of 1 million dollars. Another difference between both mints is the Perth mint is owned by the Western Australian government but administered by Gold Corp. The RAM is federal government under the jurisdiction of the RBA.
