The free rider problem is used to describe when someone gets the benefit of a good or service without having incurring a cost for it

So Public Goods would be considered a free rider problem if taxpayers are funding it? She did say that the free rider problem describes someone who gets a good or service without paying for it.

Flaming Basketball Club the free rider problem comes in with regard to taxpayers with people like me. I avoid paying taxes as much as possible, while you pay your "fair share". The government has to borrow trillions of dollars to make up for this shortfall. So when the government kills me or locks me in a cage, the moral justification is that I was a free rider and not paying my fair share, while still enjoying all the benefits.

So the public good turned on its head in terms of the free rider problem could instigate big business who benefits from the infrastructure and commercial history of a country without paying its due taxes for future generations to similarly benefit.

Lol corporations pay huge taxes.. and here's a crazy fact.. if you make less than 100 grand a year.. youre a net negative to the government, because your taxes don't cover how much you cost the country.

If people are getting taxed for things that they don't get any benefits for and instead those benefits are going to people who don't pay for their goods or services, then how is that not theft?

I think one needs to consider good and bad haves and have-nots. If an individual has way more resources than s/he needs, but doesn’t give any to those who have none, the problem seems to become ethical. Only danger of harm from others could warrant not helping them. So I guess I need to find out how the other end of the problem is dealt with. The other problem I have is with the free riders possible negative effects on the outcome. Shouldn’t we consider the possibility that we could of gotten a worse grade had we allowed the free rider to participate in the project?

Why not wanting to do charity is an ethical problem? Would you please clarify?
@enfomy
@enfomy 6 жыл бұрын
Natanael Esoxi I can clarify if u clarify. What are the characteristics of the person who doesn’t want to do charity, especially social class? How are u defining “charity”? I know what the word means. But since I didn’t use it in my original comment, I need u to be clear what u’re referring to. And is the charity, whatever it maybe but I’m assuming some positive action, necessary or merely wanted?

1 - What are the characteristics of the person who doesn’t want to do charity, especially social class? Not important, a persons rights shouldnt be determined by their social or economical status. 2 - How are u defining “charity”? As google says: "the voluntary giving of help, typically in the form of money, to those in need.". 3 - I need u to be clear what u’re referring to As you say: "has way more resources than s/he needs, but doesn’t give any to those". Giving away what one possesses is charity, when voluntary, and theft otherwise.
