The gospel is the news that Jesus Christ, the Righteous One, died for our sins and rose again, eternally triumphant over all his enemies, so that there is now no condemnation for those who believe. Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God. (1 Peter 3:18)

@@abceckswhyzee7169 Jesus taught salvation was through the combined factors of faith, repentance, obedience and works, after God's grace and mercy. Paul taught a nominal form of faith where the works were abolished and you only had to make a one time acceptance of Jesus to be saved. We can find Jesus' clear words preserved still in the gospels where they quote Jesus directly where as Paul never does in any of his teachings. This is why the righteous followers of Jesus like James and Jude wrote in their epistles against Paul's teaching of salvation. Paul recast Jesus into the pagan form to make it easier to convert the pagans of Rome where he made his religious base outside of Jerusalem (separating himself from the other gospel writers). In doing so he wanted to make it easy. Just accept Jesus as your savior, a figure found in the Greek mystery religions, and you will be saved from sin, a concept Jesus never taught.

@@nunya54 Salvation through works? Explain that a little more. We must constantly perform philanthropic deeds to maintain a status of salvation? This is not taught by Jesus, and if I misinterpreted something, please elaborate *and provide scriptural quotations.* (Paul) I don't get the last part of the first paragraph. Are you staying Paul never quotes Jesus? 1 Cor 11:23-26, Paul quotes Jesus regarding communion/The Last Supper, and 2 Cor 12:9 are examples where Paul clearly quotes the words of Jesus (i could present more but idk if that was your point or not). Ephesians 2:9 states that our salvation is "Not of works, lest any man should boast." The context is further given in verse 8: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God." This clearly refutes the claim that works saved us, as by that logic our salvation would be "of ourselves," but it is not, *according to Paul.* (James, Faith + Example) Provide proof that James and Jude wrote against the teachings of Paul, please. James 2:24 is not valid, as James is refuting the claim that a life-changing experience, that is salvation, will not produce works. Works are a byproduct of faith (and salvation in Jesus), *not a condition. That theme is not taught within scripture.* This is proven in James 2:18 where James brings up the said argument: "But someone will say, 'You have faith and I have works.' Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works," basically highlighting my argument that faith is shown by works. • Example: Where "faith" is to mean the intellectual belief of something, even the demons have faith, according to James. Saving faith, however, is different, as it includes *obedience:* obedience to *do* something, and it is a result of the *transforming of our minds through salvation.* If you were in a room and I told you it would collapse and there would be fatal repercussions if you stayed, and you believed me, you would run out, right? You would have "faith/trust" that I was telling the truth, and action would result. The same is with our faith, as, once we place our trust in Jesus and we are transformed by the renewing of our mind, actions will result, "justifying" or "proving" the faith, in the same way that you running out of the room would "prove" your faith that I was telling the truth. (Conclusion) As per your last paragraph, Jesus did teach that it is by faith alone that we have been saved. John 3:16. I bet you know it so I won't quote it. What are the conditions to be saved? Believing on the name of Jesus (which is, of course, only possible by saving faith: a faith that will cause change in ones life. After being saved we are "re-born." Of course there will be works that result). This is *undeserved and CANNOT be earned* (hence it is given by God's *grace*); thus, works cannot save. Neglecting the works do not "void" our salvation, as at the most we would just be labeled as disobedient (not doing the works), or *sinning,* not un-saved/a reprobate. Edit: Structuralization of my argument, and clarification of points.

@@iceman4660 Our interpretation of Paul can be very "me centered". We look to his letters as if they were written to and addressing an individual (me). Paul was addressing churches though. When he says "you", it's usually a plural you. Sometimes this makes all the difference.

Wait a minute, you said everywhere the apostles went, they preached the crucifixion on the cross (paraphrased). This simply is not true. The apostles message was that Jesus was Israel's awaited Messiah and was to bring in the kingdom. They knew not the crucifixion. They even tried to prevent Jesus from doing so when Jesus tried to explain to them that he must die. Remember when Jesus said, " get behind thee Satan"?

This is a good presentation of the biblical Gospel. However, I am a little concerned that the explanation of ' sin ' gave only half the story. In this vid, sin was expressed in ' subjective ' terms only. The concept of sin, in the Bible covers far more than just its subjective nature. All of mankind commit sin whether that sin is great or small. It has been said that all subjective sin is against God, even though that sin is personal sin when committed by us and committed against each other. What about ' objective sin ' Is that not also a reality even though we may not believe it exists? Or should I say, we do not recognise it. Ask yourself this question: Where did death come from? The scripture say that ' the wages of sin is death ' But why is there a connection between sin and death? Christ died for ALL our personal subjective sins, past present and future sins. But He also died for objective sin. What is objective sin?

[ The PROMISE of the "Gospel That Saves" can be defined as: the "death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ". That Gospel is fulfilled in the believer(s) that repents, is "...baptized in the NAME of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you SHALL receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:38, 8:14-17; 10:44-48; and Acts 19:1-5) This fulfills the Lord's commandment that a scripture should be established "...by the testimony of twoo witnesses or three." ]
@dannorris8478
@dannorris8478 15 күн бұрын
1 Corinthians 15:1-3 doesn’t say that the death burial and resurrection of Christ is all the content of the gospel, but “the things of first importance”. The thrust of the whole passage is that believers will be resurrected with new bodies like Jesus, which is based on the truth of Christs resurrection and is therefore itself “gospel” doctrine. In addition Jesus in his own gospel of the kingdom proclaimed much about the kingdom of God which is also Gospel doctrine, Mark in 1:1 identified his narrative about the life of Christ as gospel and Pauls book of Romans is an exposition of many more salvation doctrines that he clearly believes are gospel. This is the one gospel of the NT delivered in three distinct discourses. In addition the word gospel can mean “good news” but the NT uses it in a technical sense as a message or oracle from God , and it includes for instance the idea of divine judgement, see Romans 2:16. Bad news is a false category for the gospel that misinformed people invented and does not exist in scripture.

The Gospel is as Jesus preached it, the good news of the kingdom which began with his coming. A kingdom to restore mankind to their role given in Genesis 1 and 2. Your presentation starts at Genesis 3. This limited presentation focussed solely on fall-redemption leaves off the first two and last two chapters of the Bible. Common error in western Christianity to start the story at Genesis 3 and stop it at Revelation 20. Focussing solely on personal salvation makes the gospel about us and not about God. The Bible is a library of the story about God not man.
