Why don’t members of the church feel obligated to build an ark such as that constructed by Noah? We might say in response that the assignment to build that ark was a one-time assignment that fit a particular historical moment. Well, why don’t we Christians feel compelled to go and preach exclusively to “the lost sheep of the house of Israel”? We say, well, that assignment was given in an historical context where it was appropriate and it was given to the apostles only, and it was superseded later by a greater commission. All right then, why don’t members of the church feel compelled to produce more Scripture? We respond that such cannot be done because Scripture has been completed, and there is no miraculous capacity for the production of it. Okay. Why do members of the church today feel compelled to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature”? Unlike the responses thus far offered, we decide this time that we are under such obligation. And I ask, “WHY”? Each generation lived and died and without the modern day fulfillment of the commission. But somehow, we thought that if we kept stressing it to ourselves, we were upholding a part of the permanent pattern of Christianity. And even though we all knew that not one generation since the first had ever fulfilled the commission, that somehow the failure of all of us since then did not have essential eternal consequences. That is, on the one hand (1) we told ourselves constantly that we were under the commission, and (2) constantly failed to fulfill the commission as every generation before us had (except the first one), and yet (3) each generation of Christians passed away bound for heaven. This is what we believed and preached. THE SCRIPTURES BELOW SHOW THAT WHAT JESUS COMMANDED ABOUT THE GREAT COMMISSION WAS FULFILLED ? is there any verses in the bible that the apostles said that the people they ministered to must do the great commission??? "AND THEY WENT OUT AND PREACHED EVERYWHERE" (MARK 16:20) "THE GOSPEL THAT YOU HAVE HEARD, WHICH WAS PROCLAIMED IN ALL CREATION UNDER HEAVEN" (COLOSSIANS 1:23) AND "NOW TO HIM WHO IS ABLE TO ESTABLISH YOU ACCORDING TO MY GOSPEL AND THE PREACHING OF JESUS CHRIST, ACCORDING TO THE REVELATION OF THE MYSTERY WHICH HAS BEEN KEPT SECRET FOR LONG AGES PAST, BUT NOW IS MANIFESTED, AND BY THE SCRIPTURES OF THE PROPHETS, ACCORDING TO THE COMMANDMENT OF THE ETERNAL GOD, HAS BEEN MADE KNOWN TO ALL THE NATIONS" (ROMANS 16:25-26).

As a former Christian Theology student at a private Christian school, I have a question. Who gave The Church the authority to remove the following from The Great Commission: “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name they shall cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues: they shall take up serpents; and if the drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” - Mark 16:17-18 (1611-KJV). You did not include this quote from Jesus. Why not? This may be why so many people have left 'The Church'.

THE GREAT COMMISSION of Matthew 28. Well one of the strangest most amusing things about it is that verse 19 says make disciples of all nations and yet Peter needs to have a vision in Acts 10 to tell him that the gospel isn’t just for Jewish people. So anyway v20 ReWrit And the disciples asked Jesus. "So are we just to tell the gospel to the Jewish people who have emigrated to these other nations ? Do you really think Jewish folk will have emigrated to all nations ? It would speed our task up if you could specify which ones to go to." And Peter asked,” hey Jesus how about giving us a map of the planet so that we can sail to the New World double quick to tell the gospel of salvation to the folks over there. Though, full disclosure, to be perfectly honest my main motivation is to taste all the delicious food plants native to the Americas that I have heard so much about. Jesus replied, “Oh, and who have you been hearing this from ?“ And Peter replied, a bit embarrassed, “Well you see I had been reading Job 1v7 that Satan had been roaming the earth so I got to wondering what he might have seen on his travels, as I had always fancied doing a bit of tourism but never had the chance. So anyway Satan appeared before me and said he’d heard that I was wondering about what the far flung places of the planet he'd seen were like and I said, oh yes please and then he told me about the foods like cocoa, peanuts, squash, maize, potatoes, tomatoes, butter beans and several others that people over there enjoy. And also about how some of them go around feasting on wild bison that form great wandering herds on the vast open grassland prairies. And I said to him that it sounds ever so exciting and I really hoped I got see it. So he offered to take me up to a high place to see over that far away land but I told him I was afraid of heights but a vision of it would do. So he did. Looks fantastic but unfortunately I forgot to ask for directions and can’t remember the journey there. It’s all a bit foggy, as visions often are. But Jesus rebuked Peter, "Get behind me Satan. For the time is not yet right to know these things"

The " Great commission" are directives given to The Apostol's( Disciples) of Jesus to go out and continue doing the signs and wonders to usher in the Kingdom of God at that point and time in History; Since The Nation of Israel rejected Paul's Gospel that Jesus Himself had not revealed to anyone until sometime after His resurrection and accession. The Nation of Israel is then put on the back burner as it were until Jesus comes back and then they will see Him whom they pierced and then They( The Jewish Nation) will believe....wow...so much more....

Luke 13:1-5 New Living Translation A Call to Repentance 13 About this time Jesus was informed that Pilate had murdered some people from Galilee as they were offering sacrifices at the Temple. 2 “Do you think those Galileans were worse sinners than all the other people from Galilee?” Jesus asked. “Is that why they suffered? 3 Not at all! And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God. 4 And what about the eighteen people who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them? Were they the worst sinners in Jerusalem? 5 No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish, too.”

Does Watermark church believe John 14:12 refers to healings and miracles that will be done in Jesus's name by those that have God's Holy Spirit? Or do the 'works' relate to just change in personal behaviour?
@meekycruz47626 жыл бұрын
Jesus performed healings and miracles so that people will believe and be saved. That’s the very purpose of why Jesus came. So that there will be SALVATION for all the people who will believe in Him. God does not only desire to heal the sick in the physical, but the sick in the spiritual. There is no point in healing a man who is gonna go to hell tomorrow. The very heart of God to save people from death. We all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and we deserve eternal death in hell, but through Jesus, we can be saved, and we can be reconciled to the Father. God wants everyone to be saved. He doesn’t want people to perish and go to hell. That is why He sent His One and Only Son, Jesus.

You refer to Lord Jesus Christ’s baptism of death being found in Romans 6:3-4. It is this baptism that is the subject of the mystery our Lord revealed to Apostle Paul. This baptism, which took place at the Cross of Calvary, has nothing to do with water for there was no water at the Cross. Believers are baptized into Jesus Christ by the Spirit (l Corinthians 12:13). His death becomes our death (Romans 6:6); His resurrection becomes our resurrection (Romans 6:8). Without this baptism, we are yet in our sins. This spiritual baptism is necessary for us to be saved. Paul preached that the Church should be united around “one Lord, one faith, one baptism” (Ephesians 4:5). People seem to forget that Jesus was baptized twice and the second is where we should pay attention.

I find it odd that I have been going to bible teaching churches my whole life ... many different churches... I don't recall ever hearing the words "the great commission" I probably did it just never really stood out to me. I've definitely been taught the principles of it... just don't recall hearing it titled that.
@debbiesowell39422 жыл бұрын
Perhaps you never heard it ”in church” because Jesus gave the instructions of this commission to the twelve disciples for Israel, not the Body of Christ, His Church. It was a kingdom commission to be performed around the tribulation. “All nations” in Matthew 28:19 referred to Gentiles. Israel, as God’s kingdom of priests, would take salvation to the rest of the world after they accepted Jesus as their Messiah and King (Exodus 19:6; Isaiah 61:6; l Peter 2:9).But they refused Jesus as their Messiah and King and the commission didn’t happen. Since Israel couldn’t go to the Gentiles with the plan of salvation, God appointed a special apostle to the Gentiles, Paul, (Romans 11:13) revealing to him the “fellowship of the mystery of Christ” (Ephesians 3:9). The Great Commission will come to pass in the future.
@debbiesowell39422 жыл бұрын
I must disagree on your assessment to following Jesus’s ways. If we follow Jesus’ ways from His ministry here on earth, we would be following Judaism not Christianity. “Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision” (Romans 15:8) and His teachings were directed to the house of Israel not Gentiles (Matthew 10:5-6). Paul says, “Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we Him no more” (ll Corinthians 5:16). After the LORD’S finished work of the cross and His ascension placing Him at the Father’s right hand, we are to “know Him no more” in the flesh. The ascended Lord Jesus revealed “the mystery” (Ephesians 3) to Apostle Paul to teach to all nations. Paul was appointed “Apostle of the Gentiles” (Romans 11:13). He is who we follow as he follows Christ (l Corinthians 11:1). How to walk with Christ, His instructions and doctrines for the Body of Christ, His Church are found in Paul’s epistles, Romans through Philemon.

The idea of The Great Commission was invented by men who build their own kingdoms. Jesus never called it the great commission. Most pastors will insist that people obey this “great commission” but then restrict major aspects of it to only the ordained clergy. So then the responsibility of most people is to just invite folks to hear a man talk. Yeah that’s garbage.

That’s the thing tho, anyone can disciple and bear fruit. Those pastors are just plain wrong.

How can you make Him known, when you don't know His NAME????? The name of the Savior is YAHUSHA. It MEANS YHVH's Salvation. Names are NOT 'translated', but are 'transliterated'. That MEANS a name sounds the same in every language. (There was no "J" ANYWHERE until a few hundred years ago, so neither the name of the Almighty, nor the name of the Savior can have a 'j' in it!!
@johnhasse39956 жыл бұрын
I would think a librarian could share this information. I have three scriptures that insert the names of the Almighty and the Savior in Hebrew letters. Yod Hey vav Hey (the 'tetragrammaton'- name of the father) and Yod Hey Vav Shin Ein for the name of the Savior.) The Hebrew alphabet is available, with a pronunciation guide. Jacob Meyer (who is now dead) shared much information from his perspective. He was head of the Assemblies of Yahweh. (I don't agree with all their stuff, and am not a member.
