What is the Hardest Achievement?

The answer may surprise you.
What do you think is the hardest achievement of all time? Going into this video, before doing any research, I thought Seriously 3.0 from Gears 3 was the toughest. I am by no means an expert in the area of difficult achievements. The rarest achievement I have unlocked is Zealot from Halo: MCC, which you get by " Halo 2A MP: In Anniversary matchmaking, win 10 games as an Elite." Yeah, seriously, that's my rarest one. But I do have Overwatch's Rapid Discord unlocked, which would be my rarest achievement if it weren't for me playing Overwatch on PC (it's on Battle.net, not Steam). Now the hardest achievement I have unlocked is arguably beating CoD: World at War or CoD 4: Modern Warfare on veteran (I know there isn't one single achievement for doing this, but still). The two campaigns are about the same difficulty. So, in the grand scheme of things, I haven't unlocked any extremely difficult achievements, which is both a product of me not going for them and me not being good enough to get them without melting my brain. I had a ton of help from the fine users of True Achievements, who have made plenty of informative guides and comments. This video would look nothing like it does without True Achievements existing.

You can get that achievement by exiting the game, setting your computers internal date to 5 years in the future, then relaunching it.

@@johng3858 Technically, you only need to complete the playlist and not the entire game. What this means is that you could get a friend who is better than you to progress through the levels for you. When they get to the final level, they then invite you to their game. If the two of you manage to beat the last level together on the playlist, you both get the achievement. The LASO achievements were such a pain to do that I personally played through 3 of the games myself on LASO and invited others to join on the final levels simply so that less people would have to endure the horrible fate that is playing any Halo game on legendary with all the skulls on.

There’s an achievement in The Stanley Parable called ‘Go Outside’ which requires you to not play the game for 5 years, five whole years to unlock an achievement. Granted you can set the time on your Desktop or Console to five years later and then start up the game, actually completing the achievement without cheating is extremely time consuming. That’s 43800 whole hours.

I feel like "Completionist" from Rock Band 3 is a good contender. It requires you to get basically every goal in the game, which means mastering all the standard instruments, as well as the pro versions. I think there's some leeway if you have DLC goals, but the amount of dedication and mastery required is still insane.

Star Ocean: Last Hope has also a very difficult achievement, where you have to fulfill a lot of small tasks and without a guide, its probably impossible. Also you need several playthroughs (about 7) to get everything. Also some things get impossible if you cannot do it the first or second time because the game gets permanently harder after doing certain things

I got emperor! in 2016 and I stayed up 60 hours straight to fight for top player to get it. it takes skill and time. if you log off for more than 8 hours you fall tons of spots from the top. not to mention you have to coordinate with your alliance to secure all keeps and outposts at a time.

Although this breakdown is fairly good I think there's a bit of a sub-category moment here that wasn't quite mentioned. Skill based achievements have two varieties that makes the final few games you compared hard to compare. There are pure timing based challenges such as the Cloudberry Kingdom one and then there's decision making challenges such as the asteroids one. The way I'd describe it is that it's like comparing high-score runs with speedruns.

Minecraft's hidden achievement "How did we get here?" Should have been mentioned. It involves having every single potion effect to be applied on you at once. It requires having played through an entire world since you need end game items, it also requires the rarest item the 'enchanted golden apple', it requires hours of setup and luck to find easy and close locations, and then a lot of skill and fast reaction time to activate the rest of everything whilst being careful to not die. Not saying it's the hardest, not even close but it's definitely incredibly hard.

@@malumy as I said, I definitely agree that this isn't an insanely difficult one compared to some other here but I definitely don't agree with that 100 hour mark, in fact I'd be willing to bet most players actually wouldn't be able to complete it straight up and even with tons of KZbin tutorials would struggle since the average Minecraft player has a much lower skill level than average players for other games. Again, not trying to start an argument I definitely don't think it should be on the list but an honourable mention would be nice.

This definitely deserved a mention in the video considering it takes luck(lots of rng in terms of leader skills,traits, event timings, institution spawn, and more) it definitely takes time, as playing a World Conquest most of the time takes toll at least the 1750s in a game that starts in 1444. It takes grind as there can be countless reruns and restarts to get a good start and if things take a bad turn. Three Mountains on this list showed .5 percent of people had it and the adjusted achievement ratio was around 1.5 percent. This is because players like me never ever play on Ironman(achievement mode) as we only play for a fun game or try to do a challenge ourselves. As a player with over 750 hours in EU4. The three mountains achievement is definitely worth a consideration.

I think the Manipur one is harder. Three mountains is extremely difficult but Ryuku is actually a decent country and you can invade cham and other countries easily whilst being protected by china, but even without the china dlc you can still do stuff. Manipur you are surrounded by heretics who hate you sooo much so the run usually ends in a year. You are lower tech and institution than everyone else and no place to colonise. And then you have to fight bengal.

Bloody Jitterbug is definitely one of the hardest bosses in gaming for sure. However… Cave, the same company who made Deathsmiles also made a boss so incredibly hard it’s remained unbeaten for 10 years straight and counting since a game’s release! Also, idk if anyone noticed, but the superplayer Shadykilla420 is the same player who got the worlds first “Platinum” achievement and even attempted to get “Turmoil”! The hardest achievement is one from to Xbox 360 version of the cars 2 game. You unlock the achievement by completing all of the achievements in the game, and that’s why it’s hard. It’s impossible to do since you have to unlock the achievement in order to unlock the achievement.

How about the "Tune Merasmus's TV" achievement in TF2? It requires over 5 players that all have to be perfectly in place. Basically, the players need to be on certain teams and stand in certain places for the achievement to work. I also think you need to be playing as certain classes.

There’s an achievement in peggle (the xbox arcade game) for hitting every single peg on every single level. It’s both time consuming because of the amount of levels and incredibly challenging because of Peggle’s mechanics

What makes this question so hard for me is the fact that some games have completely broken achievements, Be it impossible multilayer achievement or a broken game. If you combine it with glitches and hackers and the question basically becomes impossible. But to be honest, your video may be the best one I've seen. It's staggering that your channel doesn't have more subscribers as you've basically found the hardest achievement. I honestly hope your channel sees more growth in the future as it's truly fantastic.

The hardest achivment I got was "Embrace the Void" From hollow knight. You essentially have to clear a boss rush with *43 different bosses.* Thats not all. With so many bosses, you can guess how the difficulty escalates. The final boss of the boss rush is HELL. ITS UNFAIR! REDICULOUS! COMPLETELY INSANE!... yet fun.

I'd love to see you make a video on the *Most Complicated achievements* While not technically an achievement Getting Phione in Pokemon Diamond was pretty crazy. You had to buy the Pokemon Ranger game, beat it, activate a secret code on the home screen, beat the secret missions to get the Manaphy egg, then have 2 DS's so you could trade the Manaphy egg to Diamond. Then hatch the egg, then breed Manaphy with a Ditto and you finally got Phione.

How did you overlook Impossible Boy? It's super high on both Player Rarity metrics, and that's with it being very commonly hacked/cheated. It's often overlooked, because people just move on after getting Golden God (myself included) but it requires an insane amount of skill.

Pretty sure the achievement for rockband where you have to play every song in the game in one setlist without pausing and with no breaks is the hardest. Its over 12 hours long.

Great video, never even heard of some of these! At least there were some trophies you mentioned that I own, now my trophy hunter pride is satisfied. The main reason why I spent so many hours playing black ops III for the Highly Decorated trophy is because the description was so misleading^^ The Goat Simulator Flappy bird one was actually super easy, just no Fun to do. Where‘s Trackmania Turbo tho, getting all gold or 50 trackmaster medals were both very hard and requiered much skill and patience and the clear rate for both is below 0.1% on PS4 (just wondering)

Thanks for showcasing cloudberry kingdom. I tend not to see that game get mentioned in lists like this. I should clarify something, the shenanigans achievement is objectively harder on steam than on console. The console versions of the game allow you to use powerups on the levels, such as slow mo and showing the level path. The steam version has no function like this, so the achievement is much harder to obtain since you must play the levels at full speed. To this day, 6 years after release, only myself and one other person have completed cloudberry kingdom on steam legitimately.

Spoilers ahead for payday 2's secret ending (could also be PC only): Bit late but I think the hardest achievement is the payday 2 secret ending one, you need to complete the story, input a certain code on the piano, translate the obsidian tablet, get the 20 achievements (which are random), do one of the hardest stealth heists, make it go loud, find a secret room, translate a total of 4-6 "discs" (can't remember how many) on a vault while fighting of demon cloakers, go inside the room, open the door when the dentist asks and then you have to quickly kill the dentist, put in the mayan gold bars and only then do you have the achievement
