I used to have the original Snake Mountain in 1984 when I was about 9 years of age, along with Castle Greyskull, the Talent fighter set and a bunch of the action figures as well. The line was my precursor of me grabbing my first set of dumbbells at the age of 14 a few years later, which to this point 32 years later. I am still an avid gym rat. If there is anything that I can take away from the brand, is that it enabled a 90 pound weakling become his own version of HeMan that fit him. Thank you, Mattel, for giving us the gift of Masters of the Universe. You have no idea how this brand has affected many young boys and incorporated the lessons into our lives.

The cord to the "microphone" broke and the bridge and some of the interior bits were lost, but the shell is still intact. But I did always wonder why it looked the way it did and not how it does in the show. In the U.K. Masters of the Universe comic from the 80s, both versions of Snake Mountain appear. The Filmation’s version was shown as being Skeletor’s original fortress, which he abandoned prior to the first issue of the comic, and is only seen in a couple of flashbacks. The toy version was depicted as his current base of operations. This is similar to the way they shown that the toy version of the Fright Zone was Hordak’s base on Eternia, to explain why the toy differed from the version seen in the cartoon

Another tidbit from Germany: It had, for some reason, a German name in "Burg Drachenstein" ("Castle Dragonstone"). They had both names on the package. Not sure if they changed it later on. In the Audio Cassettes they used it for the early episodes and later on transitioned to Snake Mountain with no explanation given. I don't know if it was changed on the packaging for the playset later on, too. Or why they chose to have a german name in the first place. I was never really into "MOTU", but we did have the two mains (He-Man and Ol' Skully) I don't exactly know why cause it was right up my alley, but I guess Mom only allowed a couple "brands" per brat! lol! I would love to see and updated snake mountain but I’m not confident it would be made well. The original was far from up to par and needed improving. The Classics Snake Mountain is better but still keeps its main draw back, nothing happening inside.

@@b.lloydreese2030 Absolutely. There are a few different ways around it and screwing with the audience point of view is of course the most common example (as I assume the case is with Orko and Adam, and definitely was the case for Trap Jaw); and then as we get to further mystical or scientific powers beyond our understanding we start getting things that are less “screw the audience” and more in story contrivances for the story telling experience. It adds a weight or a gravitas to the heroic sacrifice that just isn’t there if the next scene has the hero banged up but alive. We’ll see how Adam’s second “death” is handled in part two, but I’m optimistic.

And I hate to annoy you Scott. I always told you I had a lot of love and respect for you for giving us classics. It’s obvious that I offend you with my questions where I’m given a one to three word response. I’d like to think you appreciate the love and passion I have as you do, but my hating on how Mattel has handled the origins line where most of us are saying they were fucks for not even,y distributing the figures to each and every store, and thanks to the scalpers, which you say Mattel is very happy that they exist because it’s all about making money on them even though it upsets the fans, is that supposed to endear fans to the toy company? No! It makes us hate them that much more. I’m surprised by your praise on the 1987 film too, in your recent video. You made it out to be this epic film, praising this William stout on his designs. Whoever that man is, the new characters he created for the film were disgusting and nothing memorable in the least. And you can’t possibly have been happy with this new show! I guess you have some reason(s) or another, in which you can’t be completely honest in how you really feel, but it’s fine. They destroyed MOTU. And I can never look at what was one this amazing and great thing innthe same anymore. Sorry.

@@spectorcreative1872 Then when you take notice of the fans, like you, that has that fire and passion in them, as I know you do Scott, I don’t know? Is ignoring my questions? The same as others who praises you for resurrecting MOTU. As I’ve had, but will say kind thing on the 1987 film, never giving me an answer as to why studios who I would think give an arm and a leg to make a MOTU movie on a huge budget as to why they chose not to, down to a question like....how can you possibly say anything positive about this latest reboot, when fans have that love and passion for the brand, some even more than you, could turn and say. “What’s the big deal”? When we look up to you in gratitude for resurrecting the brand with classics, could say such a thing? Even though you’re no longer employed by Mattel, maybe to some extent? You are and you have to act as though you stand by this series for reasons we will never know. But it would be great, as somewhat of a leader to your fans, to say what’s pissed you off about this show s it has everyone else and that you have a good reason as to why you can’t be real. But it’s fine. If it’s bringing you in some kind of income,e under the table, it’s the only plausible reason I can think, as that show was a complete and utter disaster.

Agreed with you both, not bad like I said, I didn't get the whole Rey jedi feeling, Teela has always been a warrior, she felt betrayed, they attempted to capture that (credit given) as seen, she doesn't have a girlfriend, they could have dud better in terms of comradery amongst soldiers, which they are. I'll be fair and give it a 6/10, only because they kill Adam twice...

@johnmorey7203 жыл бұрын
@Fake Account @Fake Account I'm gonna call this sort of behavior out more because it's not "I didn't like this" (valid criticism) and is instead "WAAAH! WAAAH! INTERNET DRAMA WAAA! I WANTS THE PRECIOUSES!" and is the kind of thing that poisoned MOTUC, and needs to not resurface now.

@Fake Account Yeah, possibly Adam, depending on whether he's dead, dying, recoverable, or ressurectable. Lots of cliffhangers do this.

@Fake Account What you mean to say is, "I have zero problems with strong female characters ago came out when I was a kid and thus my nostalgia likes them. But if any media nowadays has a woman, it's something I will hate." And come on, man. "to please certain groups?" That's a loaded BS term if there ever was one. The real "that's called politics" and "certain groups" are the incendiary youtubers who have been posting video after video going "Kevin Smith LIED 2 US! He is making WIMMIN into heroes! Waah! MOTU IS DEAD FOREVER!" But here's the thing. They don't make those videos to give actual commentary or insight. They do it to get people ANGRY, because angry viewers = repeat viewers. It's the same tactic that every news outlet (regardless of political affiliation) or talk radio host does. Act incendiary. Make people so angry they can't even think straight. Rake in views. And it's dumb.
