All I remember from my childhood is that I loved playing with MASK and meeting friends who had other MASK toys and we had a blast to play with the toys of each other. Even the vehicles you look down on were so much fun to play with. And still today I watch a MASK cartoon on YT every now and then.

Transformers was my favorite toy line when I was a kid in the '80s, but when MASK launched when I was 8, I was hooked. I still have the best memory of Christmas morning 1985 when I got Rhino. Describing the line as having great "play value" is spot on! Between each mask carrying special powers and each toy having so many modes, MASK really was one of the greatest toy lines and doesn't get enough credit. Thanks for an absolute blast of a video, guys! Keep it up!

Aww man, this was super nostalgic watching this. I was 5 when MASK came out, so looking back I realize how many toys from this line I actually had like Outlaw the oil tanker, the blue hit rod with the flames on the side and the purple 2-door with the female driver. Shout out to my parents for providing my brother and I with some dope Christmas' and overall memories altogether.

I was also a child of divorce, though I think my parents split in about 79 or so - by the time Mask came out I was 8 and absolutely ate it up. It was one of my absolute favorite lines alongside Transformers, Voltron, and He-Man, with GI Joe and 'normal' toy cars just behind them. I've been 'writing' a Mask live-action movie treatment for years now and just need the right person to pitch it to, LOL.

I am actually in the small percentage that liked Razorback in the racing series, the toy as well. I thought while different and a bit odd looking, it could go over steep terrain with its design when transformed. Also as seen in an episode it does go up, for defense when avoiding an attack from the side. I never understood Brad's Eclipse Mask power. Did it crete a black hole that pulled objects in or was it just another version of the Shroud mask power that Matt Tracker possessed?

Did you know that the Raven and Manta vehicles were name swapped? I don't know if it was intentional or not, but calling an amphibious car 'Manta', and a flying car 'Raven' makes more sense. Also, Vanessa Warfield kept pet Ravens, so clearly her vehicle being named Raven would have been keeping with her character. A similar thing happened with Sideswipe and Sunstreaker from the Transformers line. Their names weren't switched, but their bios were. So Sideswipe was supposed to be the crazy one, and Sunstreaker was meant to be the vain one with rocket boosters (he literally had rocket booster accessories on his shoulders!) And of course, 4-LOM and Zuckuss were infamously mislabled in the Kenner StarWars line.

I was born in 1990, well after the toys had gone off shelves here in Finland. My older brother had one MASK VHS tape left from the 80s and I must have watched it and those three episodes in it thousands of times. Transformers was the #1 toyline and franchise for me growing up, but as I've gotten older I've begun to cherish those memories of M.A.S.K. more fondly and even acquired some of the vehicles I always wanted but was never able to track down second hand. Transformers on the other hand have faded its charm to me due to the overabundance of products and media available for consumption. M.a.s.k. is that part of my childhood that hasn't had a real comeback and thus in my eyes has been spared of the same fate Transformers has suffered.

Mask was amazing. I live in europe, so GI Joe was not as big here, we had Mask, Masters, Transformers and Starcom as the main toylines in my childhood. Starcom was always hard to find and quite expensive, Masters was the go-to toy for kids then, Transformers was also rather expensive and Mask was the only "cool" toyline for kids. I think it was mostly parents who deemed that Mask was more for older kids, while Masters toys were super robust and simple, so they would be fine for younger kids, and Mask was not something you would buy for kids under a certain age. Whenever you had Mask stuff, you knew you were now part of the cool kids :D

In Germany M.A.S.K. was pretty popular at its time and maybe even on par with Transformers. The jointed legs were absolutely unique because G.I. Joe was never a thing here. This was pretty much ahead of its time if you look at less articulated toys from the 90's. I think my brother and me had various toys from all of the lines. But there were alternative packagings where you didn't get desired figure. For example Condor came only packaged with Matt Trakker from the Thunderhawk set instead of Brad Turner which really annoyed me.

Everything else has been thru articles/videos like these keeping the line alive, to me. It doesn't help the Cher/Stoltz movie came out the same year, or the Jim Carrey cartoon/movie is also easier to find than this one.

Great toys, but they suffered the same problem as Centurions; price. They were just too expensive. You could buy three or four GI-JOE figures instead of just one of the MASK line. Not to mention that parents didn't want to start buying ANOTHER toy line. Especially one with an incompatible scale from the other lines.

M. A. S. K. had a good concept- it was quite a good series, but its first season was its best. I like it that in each 1st season show, Matt Trakker picked his agents ala Jim Phelps did in Mission: IMPOSSIBLE. Its too bad that neither Gloria Baker nor Buddy Hawks were seen demonstrating their espionage skills; there should've been at least 2-4 episodes where Gloria took on Vanessa Warfield one-on-one. Gloria's M.A. S. K. Shark seemed inspired by James Bond's Lotus Esprit seen in The Spy Who Loved Me film of 1977. Scott Trakker was also well written. He wasn't a know it all genius, and neither was he getting the team into trouble. Better T-Bob over Snarf/Slimer/Bat Mite any day. Matt Trakker was later the G. I. Joe Advanced Tech Specialist, essentially the closest the Joes have to their version of Tony Stark.

I remember feeling "Betrayed" [Kid Logic] by Kenner when they stopped making Star Wars and came out with M.A.S.K, I felt they should have done Star Wars a bit longer so kids had a chance to complete/continue there collections

Very interesting I know I had one or two vehicles from that but the scale was too small so it didn’t go with GIJoe or Star Wars. So that could be why most kids just stopped collecting it.

Makes sense. But then Boulder Hill would need to be even larger and harder to manage, lol.

I feel the downfall came when they did the line where they split into 2 vehicles and had the see through double figures

Man, i hate it when people piss on Razorback. I know everybody is entitled to there opinion, but it hapens a bit too much. He's one of my absolute favorites! Otherwise: great video! 👍

Lol. All good. If I am being honest, I found it funny so we left it in. If I saw it for a good price at a toy show I'd prob get it but leave it in car mode. Plus, Brad Turner is just cool 😎

I live in the Netherlands and M.A.S.K. was next to Transformers just as popular. I didn't had any of the toys because i had two other toy lines: Transformers and Marshall Bravestar. But my friend had them and they were SO incredibly awesome; Condor, Rhino, Scorpion, Thunderhawk, i loved those toys. One of the main reasons for that was because the M.A.S.K. season one-episodes had those roll-call scenes where needed vehicles and drivers would be called upon. It was a great series(minus the season two racing episodes) and i absolutely loved it.
