Imagine if Gendo reunited with Yui and she starts with “did you take care of our son?”

Yui rejected Gendo from even reuniting with her through instrumentality because Eva 01 literally bite his head off before instrumentality happened. I’m pretty sure she regretted falling in love with that man after witnessing how he treated Shinji.

@marishiten5944 7 ай бұрын
It's worse than that. The death of the ego is the death of the self. You'd technically "exist", but without an ego, you'd never be able to perceive others, so peering into their hearts would be meaningless. It'd be a collective consciousness. What's the point when there's no sense of self? See the hearts of others doesn't matter when the concept of "other" no longer exists or applies.

It's not as clever as KZbinrs want you to believe. There are moments, but there's also sloppy writing and plot holes that can't really be addressed. Also, some aspects are really on the nose. Like Adam and Lilith being incompatible with eachother. I feel like Anno is a little too pretentious for his own good, though he does have valid points here and there (especially about the creative bankruptcy that is the anime industry). He's like Lars Von Treer. He makes an interesting concept, but gets bogged down by his own bloviating.

The Third Impact itself, in my opinion, is physical death. Souls are ripped out of their body and the body is killed. Honestly, I think that only Shinji, Rei and Kawarou were the one conscious post Third Impact. My speculation is that humans regain consciousness as the Anti-AT Field is destroyed. Even if humanity came back, there would be catastrophic infrastructure damage. Don't forget the earthquake and explosion that took place as the egg of Lilith was exposed. I would also assume that a catastrophic climate shift would take place as a result of the changes in Earth's chemistry.

I believe this show really hits hardest to work would happen if individuality was under attack. The idea of a third impact sounds scary. It makes it scarier is the fact that there’s a secret organization that thinks they have a better way of bringing people together. To break barriers and turned everybody into LCL ? That’s nightmare fuel . The creator of this anime and manga was a genius… And I wouldn’t be surprised if people have tried something like this.

There have been many franchises that tackled the idea of hive minds, giving up one's individuality etc, one example being Deus Ex: Invisible War. There, the humans could communicate with an AI construct that administrated the planet, and it responded to every one's individual needs, also encouraging humans to communicate with each other. But they still wouldn't, because despite the arrangement being for the good (except for the loss of privacy), the humans still wanted to preserve their individuality and refused to open themselves up to others. On the other hand, for example the Khala in the Starcraft franchise, the psychic link that connected the Protoss, was from their perspective something good and they greatly lamented its loss out of necessity. It also formed the basis of their religion and led to a lot of discrimination of those who would willingly reject it. It never cost the Protoss their individual identities, though, so it's a very similar scenario to the one described above from Deus Ex. There are many much more sinister scenarios available too, with complete consciousness melding and full loss of individuality, that's way more ominous I'd say.

Not bad 👍 but I think you kinda missed the mark from 17:43 onwards, with the summative description for endings inferred meaning. It actually goes much deeper than that and speaks to the oldest questions mankind has asked itself, ever since it understood itself being as itself. It speaks to the questions of consciousness and the ultimate reality which is thought to await at the end of days no less.

So all of humanity was supposed to merge body and soul / mind into a new supposedly perfect life form? Yeah, there are a lot of people I can think of who would despise the idea because it robs individuals of choice and their individuality. I hate the idea because humans are heavily flawed creatures and I wouldn’t want to be merged mentally and physically to billions of other people. It’s bound to fail or backfire because it’s like building a foundation on poorly mixed cement or concrete, the structure will crumble in on itself if it’s not done properly. I would really rather torture myself by piloting a copy of the Wing ZERO Gundam and eliminate the apocalyptic threats than have all of humanity merge into a single colossal entity that dies under its own weight and inability to survive. I would probably end up expunged like Shinji was because I would demand my individuality and body back. I might even try to gather others in the hive mind that seek a similar desire and take them with me if it were possible.

Maybe it's my simplistic view, the Instrumentality Project is the desire of Total Pathetic Cowards who are afraid to experience life and want's everyone else to bend to their own selfish will. Ironically, while this Extinction Level Event is occurring, the series protagonist who is viewed as a pathetic coward that gains perspective who ultimately rejects such a devolution and restores Humanity.

MarvelousAnime, i have a question after watching several of these videos about nge. And the blind spots i am seeing in these videos is making me question and doubt everything i have learned from your other videos. Are you aware of the real-world concept of Christianity? I dont have the time or patience to explain all the parallels between christian theology (what it actually entails and not what modern people think it does) and neon genesis evangelion. Which literally translates to "The New Gospel" You may only see edgy imagery from 90s anime. But have you considered that it is actual inte tional symbolism and maybe all of these events are clearly described in the source of inspiration? Any analysis of Evangelion that subtracts the explicit and overt religious nature of the property is doomed to miss important concepts ideas and events and to make erroneous conclusions based on their own lack of insight. The most eggeegious mistake is attributing anything lositive to Gendo. Not because i hate him. But because it made no sense. You claim Gendo wants to be reuinited with Yui which is why he does all this shit he was already doing before losing yui and only lost yui in pursuit of these goals. His "reunification" with Yui is how Gendo(a manipulative liar and cruel self centered prick) frames his own ascent to Godhood at the expense of literally all other life. Because it technically "ends" suffering by ensuring noone is around to suffer(except shinji and asuka lol) Evas are oni or the closest western analogue Demons. They fight Angels. Explicitly the messangers of God. It is explicitly the abrahamic God they serve and whether they present eden as another world or a metaphysical garden it is still adam and eve as the progenitors of humanity. With adams secret first wife lilith as a big bad. This is also reflected in actual theology. Why do you think every demon mother in every property is called lilith? These concepts are explored and built upon in apocryphal christian literature like the gnostic gospels, which were literally found in the Dead Sea scrolls and the Nag hamadi library. Jewish Kabalah deals with this as does early christian mysticism. All built on near east apocalyptic literature(i.e the bible). Japan loves jungian psychology and gnosticism. Franchises from final fantasy and persona to nge and many others deal with this. Every game where you kill god with the power of friendship is this. The god tou are killing is usually a stand in for or explicitly stated to be the Demiurge or Yadbaloth. That is not a coincidence. And the religious imagery isnt just for edginess. It is explicitly part of the message and you overlooking that aspect entirely on a work literally built on it sith themes directly taken from it is a massive disservice and undermines any faith in the level of analysis you offer. I also dont think it is unreasonable that you would just avoid that stuff for fear of algorithmic or reactionary backlash from religious people. But my stance on that is if you can not cover it, honestly choose a different topic.
