At the time of the coming of the last messenger with the last testament, the Qur'an, many Jews and Christians still had an inclination of truths in their scriptures, hence if they actually followed through with it they will actually end up following Islam. As salaamu alaikum, I am in complete agreement with what Sheikh Hamza has put forward as the clearest reason for our ongoing trial, I fear however it falls upon deaf ears for many non Muslims as the prophets, peace be upon them all are said to be, may Allah forgive me, some of the most depraved. Very fascinating discussion. We read about Israel`s relationship with God in the bible. God gave them an inheritance which is the land of Israel. 'Chosen people' narrative is history. That ship has sailed. Children of Israel failed to keep the faith or remain righteous so lost both their prominence and the land. Surah Al Baquara is the transitional revelation where the baton changes over to the house of Ishmael and Nabi Muhammed. Once the kibla changes in Surah Baquara from Jerusalem to Makkah, Bani Israel are relegated forever for their misdeeds and disobedience.

The Jews were chosen by God to be an example of piety and moral standing of God's people. However they have meandered from this by addition and corruption of the law of Prophet Moses to suit their lives. As a last salvation for them God send them Prophet Isa ( Jesus) to guide them to the true path. Mathew 15:24 Jesus said; "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel". @ikman3410 Anyone could accept a religion. It would be an insult to say all Muslims are Arabs from Hejaz. Fact is overwhelming majority of Muslims in the world today are Non Arabs. They accepted the message being attracted by it's message. Overwhelming majority of Christians in the world are NOT from Mid East, even though son of Mary was from the region of Palestine. Same goes for people of all other religions. Majority of those who calls themselves Jews are NOT from Mid East and has nothing to do with ancient Israelite tribe ( that too only 1 tribe). Children of Israel, Jew, and Judaism are their tribal title or lineage, not their religion. Judaism meaning one who follows the religion of Judah people. The name "Jew" came after the existence of Judah, the great-grandson of Abraham. The descendants of Jacob were Israelites consisting of the twelve tribes. Judah was nicknamed "Jew" so that only Judah's descendants were called Jews originally. The term “Jew” did not come into use until after the ten northern tribes were exiled to Assyria and Judah was exiled to Babylon. In the later stages of the captivity (Esther) and in the early stages of the return to the land of Israel (Ezra and Nehemiah), the tribe of Judah was dominant. The word Jew originates in the Biblical Hebrew word "Yehudi", meaning "from the Kingdom of Judah". No mention at all in the bible as to name of their religion given to the believer's by God. However Qur'an does mention it and does so several times. Below are a few examples; Qur'an 3, Verse 67: مَا كَانَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ يَهُودِيًّا وَلَا نَصْرَانِيًّا وَلَٰكِن كَانَ حَنِيفًا مُّسْلِمًا وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ Ebrahim (Abraham) was not a Jew nor a Christian but he was upright, a MUSLIM (submits to God), and he was not one of the polytheists. Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 78: وَجَاهِدُوا فِي اللَّهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهِ هُوَ اجْتَبَاكُمْ وَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ مِنْ حَرَجٍ مِّلَّةَ أَبِيكُمْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ هُوَ سَمَّاكُمُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ مِن قَبْلُ وَفِي هَٰذَا لِيَكُونَ الرَّسُولُ شَهِيدًا عَلَيْكُمْ وَتَكُونُوا شُهَدَاءَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِاللَّهِ هُوَ مَوْلَاكُمْ فَنِعْمَ الْمَوْلَىٰ وَنِعْمَ النَّصِيرُ And strive hard in (the way of) Allah, a striving as is due to Him; He has chosen you and has not laid upon you an hardship in religion; the faith of your father Ebrahim; He named you MUSLIMS before and in this, that the Apostle may be a bearer of witness to you, and you may be bearers of witness to the people; therefore keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and hold fast by Allah; He is your Guardian; how excellent the Guardian and how excellent the Helper! Surah Aal-e-Imran, Verse 84: قُلْ آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَمَا أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا وَمَا أُنزِلَ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَالْأَسْبَاطِ وَمَا أُوتِيَ مُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰ وَالنَّبِيُّونَ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّنْهُمْ وَنَحْنُ لَهُ مُسْلِمُونَ Say: We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Ebrahim and Ismail and Ishaq (Issac) and Yaqoub (Jacob ) and the tribes, and what was given to Musa and Esa (Jesus) and to the prophets from their Lord; we do not make any distinction between any of them, and to Allah do we submit (MUSLIM) Surah Aal-e-Imran, Verse 62: إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْقَصَصُ الْحَقُّ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ Most surely this is the true explanation, and there is no god but Allah; and most surely Allah-- He is the Mighty, the Wise. 'Jeremiah Chapter 7 יִרְמְיָהוּ .. ג כֹּה-אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת, אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, הֵיטִיבוּ דַרְכֵיכֶם, וּמַעַלְלֵיכֶם; וַאֲשַׁכְּנָה אֶתְכֶם, בַּמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה. 3 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. ד אַל-תִּבְטְחוּ לָכֶם, אֶל-דִּבְרֵי הַשֶּׁקֶר לֵאמֹר: הֵיכַל יְהוָה הֵיכַל יְהוָה, הֵיכַל יְהוָה הֵמָּה. 4 Trust ye not in lying words, saying: 'The temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, are these.' ה כִּי אִם-הֵיטֵיב תֵּיטִיבוּ, אֶת-דַּרְכֵיכֶם וְאֶת-מַעַלְלֵיכֶם: אִם-עָשׂוֹ תַעֲשׂוּ מִשְׁפָּט, בֵּין אִישׁ וּבֵין רֵעֵהוּ. 5 Nay, but if ye thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye thoroughly execute justice between a man and his neighbour; ו גֵּר יָתוֹם וְאַלְמָנָה, לֹא תַעֲשֹׁקוּ, וְדָם נָקִי, אַל-תִּשְׁפְּכוּ בַּמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה; וְאַחֲרֵי אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים לֹא תֵלְכוּ, לְרַע לָכֶם. 6 if ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt; ז וְשִׁכַּנְתִּי אֶתְכֶם, בַּמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה--בָּאָרֶץ, אֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי לַאֲבוֹתֵיכֶם: לְמִן-עוֹלָם, וְעַד-עוֹלָם. 7 then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever. ח הִנֵּה אַתֶּם בֹּטְחִים לָכֶם, עַל-דִּבְרֵי הַשָּׁקֶר--לְבִלְתִּי, הוֹעִיל. 8 Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit. ט הֲגָנֹב רָצֹחַ וְנָאֹף, וְהִשָּׁבֵעַ לַשֶּׁקֶר וְקַטֵּר לַבָּעַל; וְהָלֹךְ, אַחֲרֵי אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים--אֲשֶׁר לֹא-יְדַעְתֶּם. 9 Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and offer unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye have not known, י וּבָאתֶם וַעֲמַדְתֶּם לְפָנַי, בַּבַּיִת הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר נִקְרָא-שְׁמִי עָלָיו, וַאֲמַרְתֶּם, נִצַּלְנוּ--לְמַעַן עֲשׂוֹת, אֵת כָּל-הַתּוֹעֵבוֹת הָאֵלֶּה. 10 and come and stand before Me in this house, whereupon My name is called, and say: 'We are delivered', that ye may do all these abominations? יא הַמְעָרַת פָּרִצִים, הָיָה הַבַּיִת הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר-נִקְרָא-שְׁמִי עָלָיו--בְּעֵינֵיכֶם; גַּם אָנֹכִי הִנֵּה רָאִיתִי, נְאֻם-יְהוָה. 11 Is this house, whereupon My name is called, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it, saith the LORD. ...
