I've always struggled to put my finger on the definition of the Kingdom of God/Kingdom of Heaven. The Kingdom of God is what we feel inside our soul. Jesus said to look inside ourselves. Moses said it is not up high where someone else has to go get it and bring in back down for you... I feel sorry for all who never make the connection that the tiny whisper that "Tells us things great, beyond our knowledge" (Jer) IS God's word speaking directly to us and I feel sorry for those who have never performed an act of obedience to God's spoken word and then received the feeling of his separate living presence inside their soul for real. I've been connected to him personally for 50 years now (since I was seven) and now his word is giving me music he wants published. I have 22 videos and revelations all from his word now on You Tube and more coming every day and I don't even know how to play the piano but with his Spirit all things are possible. Amen.

When people ask what is the kingdom of God? Well i think of it as a peaceful, loving place where there is no hatred, violence, sadness, weeping and other negative feelings. It's a place where's there's peace, harmony, justice, righteousness, unity. That's how i look at it.

You are correct, but not until it is fully realized at the end of Time. Jesus Himself tells us that there will be bad people in His kingdom, but they will be sorted out when He returns. After He fixes it all, THEN the kingdom will be as you conceive it.

This doesn't really conflict with Fr Barron's answer, but I view the Kingdom of God as those who submit to the authority of the King; namely, Jesus. That is why Jesus could tell a person who enthusiastically concurred with his answer about the greatest commandment(s) that he was "not far from the Kingdom of God". I realize however that the Kingdom is also described as something received, and I can only square that with the fact that Jesus is given to us and we have the option to commune with Him.

Well said. In the ot, the people seemed to be looking for an end to suffering for the righteous. Jesus says that in his kingdom the last will be first. Living according to the spirit makes paradoxes like that seem common sense.

I have to argue that the church doesn’t claim “authority” to forgive sins, or cast out demons. but that priests follow apostolic succession to be handed down the ability to forgive sins, as jesus did to his apostles. Casting out demons is never set in stone or claimed without validation. Also the Kingdom of God isn’t determined as the Church itself, but has a more complex meaning related to our spiritual connection with God

I really like what you are talking about here in this video . +Joe Pastorek our good father Barron is doing his best and giving us a theological answer. He is looking through his religious colored glasses and the answer he gives is nothing but religion also. That is, the word of God explained except all the power has been edited out. Where is the kingdom? We know from the bible that the kingdom is IN the Holy Spirit. when is the kingdom? Any time the Fathers will is done on earth as it is in heaven. Jesus says that himself. The coming of the kingdom can not be observed. Jesus quote again. But we can see the kingdom manifest on the earth and recognize it when it happens. You see Jesus is not talking about when he returns and is physically king over the earth. He's talking about now. Jesus cast out a demon and said the kingdom has come upon you. So when you have faith and lay hands on the sick and they are healed, this is the kingdom manifested. It's in you in the Holy Spirit.

But that doesn't contradict what Father is saying and it's not the same as the Kingdom of God. I take serious argument--as opposed to all the name calling we see here--to heart and research it. So taking your argument, I word searched "Kingdom of God" in the Bible and replaced it with "Holy Spirit" to see if your argument made sense. Well, I couldn't see any logic in most of the Bible citations. Some you could stretch a little, but most not. So I'd have to say I'm unconvinced by your argument about the Holy Spirit being the Kingdom of God. I'm more apt to agree with the blurb in the (old) Catholic Encyclopedia about the Kingdom of God. It explains that "The kingdom of God means, then, the ruling of God in our hearts; it means those principles which separate us off from the kingdom of the world and the devil; it means the benign sway of grace; it means the Church as that Divine institution whereby we may make sure of attaining the spirit of Christ and so win that ultimate kingdom of God Where He reigns without end in "the holy city, the New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God" (Revelation 21:2)." This pretty much follows St. Augustine's reasoning in his book City of God. He says there's a City of God coexisting with the City of the Earth (or the Devil). Which one you're in dictates how you act, i.e. how you follow God's precepts and commandments. St. Augustine observed that God allowed good things and bad things to happen to everyone. It's how you responded to those things in your life which determines which City you're in--God's or the Devil's. So it's whether God rules your heart and influences your behavior or not. +Joe Pastorek please read what I posted. I said the kingdom is IN THE HOLY SPIRIT. But the Holy Spirit is much more than just that. You can't just swap them over and expect it to be correct. Romans 14: 17 states this plain as day. You should do what Jesus said and seek first the kingdom. And keep seeking it until the Holy Spirit explains it to you. Most Christians have never tried to do what Jesus has told us to do. I didn't either for 40 years. Since I became obedient I now see the glory of God regularly.

chopppacalamari I see what you're saying. I think you're reading it a little bit incorrectly. Romans 14:17 says "The kingdom of God is not a matter of eating or drinking this or that; it means rightness of heart, finding our peace and our joy in the Holy Spirit." That's actually what I'M saying above--it's rightness of heart and the finding of joy in the Holy Spirit. It's rightness and finding, not THE Holy Spirit. This doesn't say at all that the Kingdom of God IS the Holy Spirit--it says that it's based on YOUR inclinations of heart and where YOU find your joy. If your heart is right and you find joy in the Holy Spirit, THAT is what the Kingdom of God is--all those people who fall into that category. I think the reading is pretty straight forward, at least in English.

When the disciple Thomas answers god in who he truly is truly incapable of understanding, as God in the Book of Exodus 'I am I am'. Ok Father, I am the only man whose been married for the last 13 years, who could get an annulment. Do not try to understand what Jesus was saying by thinking of what you have been told by religious teachers. They can only repeat from the scriptures and have no personal knowledge of the Kingdom of God or Heaven. God is not contained within any one place but is everywhere, as are the heavens and air above you. The Holy Word spoke truly when it says: in God you live, move and have your being. For the Kingdom of God is above, around and also within you - and you can enter the Kingdom of God. But what is it? It is a state of mind and heart which is fully possessed by God - our Father. You suffer because you do not understand how you have been created, and the true purposes for which you were born. That explanation is so abstract and complex like all Satan's messages. On the other hand, God's messages are clear and simple. See for example the answer: "The Kingdom of God is Jesus himself". This is non-sense. Jesus is the King, the head of the Kingdom and we, their followers, are the members of the Kingdom. The Kingdom of God is already here, like Jesus said. It is not in a specific territory, it does not have frontiers, it is nothing that you can point out. But the marvellous thing is that it is here, it is integrated by the Children of God, new human creatures that, unlike the norma humans, acquire the spirit of God in their heart after they confess that Jesus is Lord and ask forgiveness for their sins. All members of the Kingdom of God are new creatures and they are called by God to reflect the Glory of God in this earth while we wait for the return of our King who will rule this World forever and ever!

It's a shame that this man can sit there in his black robe and white collar and call himself a man of God and don't have the faintest idea what that is. This angry me as the Pharisees, the Sadducees, and the Sanhedrin angered Christ when He walked this earth. The kingdom of God is God's way of doing, of being, of existing. To translate from darkness (the world without God) into His kingdom is the removing of the veil from one's eyes and heart. It is to understand God, and to know God; to love what He loves, and to hate what He hates. It is the enablement of walking with Him, talking with Him, existing with Him; it is an intimate personal relationship with the God, Elohim, that created heaven and earth (and all that is seen and all that is not seen). God don't wants us speaking fancy words and uttering ignorance out of our mouths, He loves us, and He calls each and everyone of us to a relationship with Him, will you who has taken the time answer His call?

heretics can still give certain truths. According to the church the hindu religion contains heresy.....but at the same time there are many truths in that religion so its kind of hard to say that someone is seen as black and white within the church. Recently a truth was given to us in Vatican 2 that implies god's truth is found in other religions....before that this wasn't really as widespread as it was. I mean many bishops and priests taught this but it wasn't as canon as it was now. Same with origen....he could be a heretic to a degree but has many qualities of him that are very truthful People like the church being black and white but very rarely under the surface is it truly black and white. People just project their views onto the Church hoping it will be reciprocated when rarely this is the case.

there are catholics that think in the mindset that everything before vatican 2 is valid while everything after is seen as here-say or avoided ......and there are catholics who embrace everything implied in vatican 2 with an open heart......try to stay away from harsh traditionalists.....but they are imperfect and hypocritical in their own rights and like opening the door to the kingdom of god yet closing it on certain people who aren't like them Be at peace. Very rarely is the church as harsh as they say they are. The church isn't black and white...only they are
