Minecraft is an astronomically large game, but just how large is it? Although it is widely believed to be only 60 million meters by 60 million meters, I found something that is so large that even the observable universe pales in comparison, and today we will uncover the true largest thing that Minecraft has to offer.

One issue is that datapacks can't stretch the height that far, at most 4096 blocks. Luckily, there's a mod that just throws everything out the window and makes minecraft a perfect cube of a world called cubic chunks., but it only works for a few versions, which is almost a bummer, but if we're already modifying Minecraft, why not add a mod that adds a single item? The amount of possible worlds suddenly doubles, adding another mod, and it's now 8 times as much, with each possible mod configuration (minus the identacle ones), so, if we count every single modification you can make to a Minecraft world with every datapack that's been officially published, and every mod that's been published, and all the versions of the mods that are for different versions of minecraft, we could expect a total of _at least_ 2^(how many mods/datapacks there are on the internet) possible mod combinations. The Hyperworld being made out of minecraft worlds that while possibly most not exceeding the 256 height limit at worst, would for sure exceed the boundaries of the observable universe. By how much... I have no idea.

There's an additional object to add here: the total size of a Minecraft world, that has the farlands. So, in 2 videos called: every Minecraft distance ever and what's beyond Minecraft's farlands by tristangent, it was mentioned that the world generation limit, was very close to the sexdecillion blocks from 0 0, which this is already bigger than a good portion of the galaxies in the universe

According to antvenom, you can travel to the 1024 bit integer limit (1.2057*10^308) in one direction so around 2.41*10^308 blocks in width and depth. And the height of the world is 1*10^248, so multiply all three dimensions and you get 5.81*10^864 m in volume for a single seed in a single dimension. If you count the other dimensions, you get 1.74*10^2594 blocks. Multiply that by 18.5 quintillion seeds, and you get 3.23*10^2612 blocks in volume.

One thing I'll have to disagree with in your math is that data packs only allow a custom world max height of 4064 blocks, from a vanilla standpoint.

Good video, but you missed one thing. Using a mod on beta to remove the arbitrary limits, you can get a singular Minecraft world to generate to orders of magnitude larger than the observable universe (last I checked it was around 10^51 blocks, I think there is a new mod that makes it even larger than the last thing in your video). And I'm not trying to be smarmy or anything, this is extremely obscure information.

Just wanted to point out that the pixels of the shadows of players or items isn't the smallest thing, but it is the outline of the block which your cursor is on. If you look really close there is an outline of the block that you are looking at. Have a nice day :)

Here's something else! Even with the same seed, every world can be completely different-not literally, but because we shape it in our own way. Every block we place, break, or change creates a unique variation. When you calculate the possible variations, you get a mind-boggling 1.4 × 10^284! It’s hard to imagine how huge that is. Just one seed, with a world size of 60 million × 60 million × 384 blocks, can have countless variations-not even counting all the block types and states. Minecraft’s scale is um, I just cant describe,

Another thing that can make this number larger but not by much is removing the border. If you look at the Minecraft border, you can obviously see that the Minecraft world stretches much farther than where we can go, it's more than 60 million by 60 million. With people that have bypassed the Minecraft code, the farthest someone has gone without the game crashing is 2 BILLION BY 2 BILLION.

You forgot something crucial, you can remove the world border, and teleport to the 64 bit limit as well in all directions, so it's not only up and down, it's also, north, south, east and west. Fun fact, nowadays, teleporting to billions of blocks away from spawn, works relatively well on modern versions, sure, there is a point where the world stops rendering, but you can go past this limit, theres indeed various limits you can see, for example, the cloud limit.

There is also a mod called 64-bit mod that change the size of a minecraft world (also adding an other mod to remove the world border) when the world border is removed the world size is 2 147 000 000 blocs large but with the 64-bit mod the world size is 9 223 372 036 854 769 700 blocs large

@@Dirtian still, would create 90 petabytes of data loading every chunk and require like 1,000 quantum computers. Placing a block in mc does about 2,000 calculations. The best GPU does a couple trillion a second. A mc world is more than a quintillion blocks. Multiplies by 2k, you're looking at sextillions of calculations, meaming it would take the best gpu 12 days, and the cpu would take about a million times longer to generate all the chunks

I hate how people assume that versions before 1.8 didn't have a world border. It in fact does! At 30 million blocks as well! In 1.7 the world border is just invisible, and in all the previous versions, all blocks are non-solid, which technically counts as a world border (and even then, the fake blocks stop completely at 32 million blocks)

I watched a video that showed what is more Far away from the farlands, and at almost the end of the video the Guy showed that after the fartest lands (the most Far away "Far lands") we can walk until the distance reach 1e308 (infinity) in a minecraft version (I forgot the version now😭), and yes, we can Also walk 1e308 blocks in nether and in the end, so If we put the Minecraft world + nether + the end and multiply by these quintilions Minecraft seeds, the numbers will be REALLY BIG, like, It Will be more big than infinity (1e308).

afaik the max size a datapack can make the build height is 4096x2 (because negative range counts too) due to some code limitations. so the world would be A LOT smaller, but still probably gigantic enough if we included seeds and and versions to dwarf the universe

What about the infinite dimension April fools update? On top of the end, nether, and overworld, there are seemingly infinite other dimensions, I can’t even begin to calculate how many. Here are starting point though, there are 50 pages in a Minecraft book, 256 spaces to write characters in a page, and 26 letters in the English alphabet and 10 digits used to make up numbers, as well as punctuation like hyphens and periods. Each book combination leads to a different dimension so if you combine all those dimensions and do the math it would possibly astronomically larger than the hyper tall planet.

Want to go even smaller? Display entities have their own scale sub-tag and can be as small as you want them to be, so, for example, you could make a dirt block that's even smaller than the silverfish I mentioned earlier
