I've had people tell me that being told that we must follow the law "scares" people into thinking they won't be "good enough" to be saved and so we shouldn't teach that. People being scared certainly does not mean that we shouldn't teach commandment keeping, that's completely illogical, but I would like to give you some comfort. I'd like to say that commandment keeping is required, but it isn't about being "good enough". We aren't "earning" our salvation by keeping the commandments, we are loving God. It isn't about being perfect, it's about trying and learning and growing. David "kept the commandments", but we all know that he made some very serious mistakes, but God still says he "kept my commandments". John says this: " He that is born of God does not sin, for he cannot sin because His seed remains in him. But if we do sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us" Don't be terrified, it's about having a heart to obey God, not about being perfect. Do your best, out of love for God. That's what it's about and what it has always been about from the beginning of time. It's the people who outright reject God's law who should be terrified, not you. Shalom. 😊 Ok, so I watched the video and they basically said the same thing. Disregard my comment. 🤣😂

What I came to see is that when we look at the WHOLE Bible as a single image of Yah and man relationship... its quite easy to see that His Laws are eternal. I think an important detail is when Paul says we aren’t under The Law (Hypo Nomon) He doesn’t actually say He is “under The Law” of Messiah (under is bad) but rather “In The Law/Lawful/Legal (Ennomos) of Messiah. If being under (which is bad) The Law (Which is Good), we can’t say it’s Good to be under (which is bad) The Law of Messiah (which is Good). However being In (which isn’t bad) The Law of Messiah (which is Good), can be consistent with not being under The Law if hypo Nomon and Ennomos do not mean the same thing. If we are in The Faith, we are ➡️neither Under⬅️ The Law of G-d nor The Law of His Son, Yeshu’a The Messiah (Subject to Messiah’s punishment?), but as an expression of our Faith, we should act ➡️In⬅️ The Law/Lawfully to The Law of G-d and The Law of His Son Yeshu’a The Messiah. A small linguistic detail that anomians might overlook, but can have have significant implications.

If all the mosaic laws are still in effect in their entirety, why aren't Jews today sacrificing to God. No temple is necessary to fulfill that as many OT ppl were practicing sacrificial laws long B4 Solomon built the temple ? Also, Jesus stated in the NT that if one kept loving God with all ur mind, heart & soul ( 1st commandment) and loving ur neighbor as yourself, they were fulfilling the whole law.

Paul wrote Galatians after the council in Jerusalem. Before the meeting Paul and Barnabas had already well-established Churches with elders in Antioch for at least a year. Then some so called Jewish believers (false ones really gal 2:4) came to these churches telling them they needed to follow the law of Moses, while Paul and Barnabas were away spreading the gospel. That's why the meeting was held. Galatians 2 speaks of this very thing. Paul taught the churches everything revealed to him through Christ. If the law is Moses was central in his teachings, there would have been no need for the meeting in Jerusalem....

Paul was teaching that a Gentile did not have to be circumcised in the flesh. Read Galatians in context. He was speaking of the law of circumcision. A gentile does not have to be physically circumcised to be saved. Salvation is for all nations. If Paul had any problem with the law given to Moses then why was it the foundation of all his teachings? He quotes the Law and the Prophets over and over again. He taught what his Messiah taught.

When commenting on the law of Christ, you should not ignore the most important words of Jesus himself. A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.(John13:34) The important and central teachings of Christianity were taught by Jesus to his disciples and were completed when Jesus was taken up into heaven. Before the disciples began writing the New Testament, The teaching of Christianity was already completed, including the law of Christ. It is the beginning of the gospel and the word of life that John says, "Heard from the beginning." That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (1Jn 1:1) Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. (1Jn 2:24) For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. (1Jn 3:11) This is the law of God written in the Christian heart, the code of the new covenant.

You have a problem with your interpretation. The phrase law or the prophets is a phrase meaning all the law and all the prophets. So the Greek word nomos doesn't mean a different law or just the ten commandments. Context tells you what the scripture is speaking about. CONTEXT is key. The context that Jesus Christ is giving is the law and the prophets all of it because that's what that phrase biblical means because the law and the prophets is what testifies of Christ and one example includes animal sacrifices because he is the lamb sacrifice. All the law and all the prophets is the contextual meaning. If it was just the ten then you would also have to say which prophets , because it couldn't be all the prophets but only part of the law because then the phrase is inconsistent.

I think that you should reread Galations, Paul says that we are free from the law of Moses. We no longer need to be slaves to the law because it has condemned us, instead we have freedom that comes with faith in Christ. That is all we need to have to be counted right in Gods eyes, we simply need faith in Christ. And for those looking for laws to follow, follow the Holy Spirits guidance. The Holy Spirit will lead you to do what is right and tell you not to do what is wrong.

6 months later I hope you got your answer. But no, just go to a doctor. What's important though is for us to understand the spiritual and prophetic teaching of the passage. If there is any stain of sin in your actions/life you need to go to Christ and get a washing of the Spirit. Check out Leviticus 14:33-53 and ask yourself if God is truly concerned about mold in your house or is He telling us End Times prophecy and the order in which Yeshua returns? First He calls believers out of the world, then He gives the world 7 years, after the 7 years He returns to remove the ideological plagues of atheistic secular humanism (reddish mold) and Islam (greenish mold). But regarding the literal application, the Jews living in Israel (especially during the Millennial Reign of Messiah) are required to perform the laws literally, they are the sign bearers. Us Gentiles are the observing audience, watching them carry out the laws asking ourselves what they mean.

I’m trying to be as honest with Scripture (Tanakh and Brit Chadashah both) as I can. This is a complex thing to study. I’ve been grappling with this for a while, and still don’t know where I stand. I have a few questions, some of which are: 1) If not a hot or tittle passes away from the Law, then why don’t we stone to death those the Law commands to stone? For that matter, why didn’t Jesus stone the woman caught in adultery? I get that it was mercy and exposed self-righteousness, but it is commanded to stone such a person. I don’t know how to resolve the tension. 2) What are we to make of commandments that are impossible to keep without a tabernacle/temple, ark, etc.? 3) In Hebrews it says that the law changed by necessity of the new and better priesthood (Levitical vs Melchizedek). So if the Torah/Tanakh speak to the laws of the Levitical priesthood, how do we discern the difference between those and the priesthood of Melchizedek? If the law didn’t change one bit, then what does that verse mean? 4) Why did the apostles and elders of the Jerusalem church in Acts 15 conclude that it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and them that they don’t trouble the gentiles more than the few commandments they gave, especially when it’s obviously not an exhaustive list since it doesn’t include witchcraft for example, which is clear from Scripture that will keep someone out of heaven? On that note, why does Paul seem to go against what seemed good to the Holy Spirit by telling believers not to worry about eating food sacrificed to idols? I have more, but I think this would be a good start to help me make some more headway in this topic. I think I have a vague idea of 2 and 4, but I’m especially curious about 1 and 3. I appreciate any help with this 🙏 God bless whoever reads this and whoever helps make the reading of Scripture clear as they did in Nehemiah 8!

This channel has a video on ALL of the points. My friends how long will you break the commandments of god? Not for salvation, but for righteous living... as it has been from the beginning. Ham amity was never saved by doing the law or else that’s were we would have pride. The adultery woman COULD NOT BE STONED because is was against the law to stone only the woman and not the man. The man had to be present to stone lawfully or else he they would be breaking the law if they stoned only one of them. Don’t forget Jesus said not to forget the HEAVIER matters of the law, which is love justice and mercy. That is no way means all the other laws are of no importance. Bro, you need to stop being ignorant like I was and start READING YOUR BIBLE like I decided and stop making quick conclusions and following what others say. Read the BIBLE!

Verse 4: Because the woman was caught in the very act, the man was there and could/should have been seized, too. Verse 5: The scribes and Pharisees distorted the Law of Moses by applying it only to the woman, and not the man. Verse 6: Their motive was to test Jesus and have grounds for an accusation. Jesus, of course, was not fooled. Hope this helps! Be blessed.

I keep the Sabbath according to the Jerusalem time zone. Does anyone else have that knowledge? Since in America, there is a 9 to 10 hour difference. Jerusalem Israel starts there Sabbath on Friday evening, on our Friday in America it's morning around 9:00 to 10:00 am.
@truthnottradition72 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting take on it. I choose to use the starting of a new day (erev Shabbat) as the sun is setting here where I live. Consider this.. in western Asia minor they were several time zones after Israel. Yet the Apostolic writings didn't reference keeping Jerusalem time. Rather they just stated it as being kept.
@samueldeleon53392 жыл бұрын
The bible does mentioned some important examples of keeping the proper appointed time, (Daniel 9:21) Even in Babylon Daniel prayed according to the (time) of the evening Sacrifice in (1 Kings 18:36) Elijah waiting for the time of the evening Sacrifice to pray to God. Timing is important I'm sure the apostles knew this.
@candicestiebens3472 жыл бұрын
I personally keep time with the sun in my area. I don’t live on the grid(as it is established by a foreign”mighty authority” not by YWHW’s people). So having a working clock is already a luxury for me. To do all the math for a different time zone, and make sure I’m correct on days and timing is really quite cumbersome. So I view the days end as whenever the sun sets wherever you are. But I would love to hear more on this subject of keeping Jerusalem time. Considering that the events in the last days will be happening on one time zone (as Passover did and I’m sure Shavuot) and not many (plural) time zones as I just stated and currently practice.

As it pertains to the above types of sacrifices I mentioned. And since he provides a superior atonement that is how we can justify not needing animal sacrifices in regards to those specific issues. It is also due to the blood of Messiah that we now have access to better promises promises that the Mosaic Covenant did not offer. You see the renewed Covenant that God has given us, as prophesied by Jeremiah Ezekiel even Moses himself in Deuteronomy chapter 30, a promise of a renewed life a transformation of the spirit itself through circumcision of the heart It Is by this that we know we will have glorified bodies that we will live for eternity. The Mosaic Covenant did not offer such a thing because the atonement system provided within that Covenant could not produce what was needed the blood of animals could not overcome sin and death to that extent only the blood of Yeshua. This is how we can justify why we no longer need animal sacrifices. Aside from that as it involves the animal sacrifices that have nothing to do with atonement or ritual Purity Etc as there are plenty of those it's a moot point because we do not have the temple currently in existence. Which is to say you couldn't do the sacrifices even if you wanted to. I hope that perhaps what I have said helps answer your question may God bless you!

Some laws define sin, some laws were about how to punish those who sinned, some laws ( sacrifices ) were for propitiation of sin. Laws defining sin haven't changed. We actually CAN'T do sacrifices because there is no temple or levitical priesthood, but there will be sacrifices during Yahshua's 1000 year reign, but in any case, those laws didn't define sin. Keep the commandments that define sin, including the Sabbath commandments.

On the substance, I may agree. On the details, I have more difficulty 1. It is difficult to attribute to Jesus what belongs to Matthew (for example in Matthew 5:19) 2. Rom 3:31 does not confirm the Torah as a law but as a promise 3 Difficult to relate Paul's words in the book of Acts written by Luke (some decades later) to Paul himself. 4. Peter's vision in Acts 10 shows that early Christianity reconsidered the notions of Clean and Unclean (cf. 34mn54s). See also Jesus in Mark 7. 5. The importance of the role of the Spirit (cf. Rom 8 where the law of the Spirit is equivalent to the law of Christ) should be emphasized in order to understand Paul's position in relation to the law.

I too had a hard time accepting Torah relevant to today. But let me see if I can clarify some of the verses of your concern. 1) Matthew 5:19 Just notice verses 21, 27, 43, in these verses we can see that the 10 Commandments are being discussed. 2) Romans 3:31 This verse agrees with (Romans 2:13, Romans 2:26, Romans 7:12, Romans 7:22, Romans 7:25) 3) Any certain verse that you are talking about! 4) Peters Vision of Unclean beast on a sheet being raised up and down three times, was a representative of what Jews and even Peter (Acts 10:28) considered that eating and fellowship with NON Jewish people was considered an unclean affair, but that was a Jewish tradition NOT a Biblical Commandment. The sheet of unclean beast represented the 3 gentile men Cornelius sent to Peter’s house (Acts 10:5) & (Acts 10:19), God never told Peter to eat unclean animals, but that Gentiles were not unclean (Acts 11:9-11). 5) The law being considered here in this chapter is not the Law of God, but the Law of Sin and Death (Romans 8:2). Notice in verse 2 that (the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus) is also discussed in (Proverbs 7:2). Shabbat Shalom my friend.

@@SouthernGardensHomestead I still think that Jesus (and Paul) challenged the notion of clean and unclean. This is evident in Mark 9. And the context of Mark 9 (and of Jesus' entire ministry) is not table fellowship with Gentiles. Paul's point in Romans 8:2ff is that the Jewish Law failed to condemn sin effectively. The death of Christ offers a more effective condemnation of sin. In this sense, Christ fulfills the program of the law ((the law is therefore necessary to understand its fulfillment in Christ). In the mashal of Romans 7:1-6 Paul makes it clear that the law owes its existence to the fact that human beings are "married" to sin. It is in this sense that Paul can speak of the law of sin and even the law of death. In 2 Corinthians 3:7, Paul even speaks of the law's ministry of death. Besides that, I think that Acts 11,9 says well that God declared the animals of the vision clean. It was not only tradition that called some animals unclean but the Torah itself (unclean were animals that fell into two taxonomic classes). There is perhaps a simpler (but perhaps also simplistic?) way to describe the relationship between the Law and Christ in Paul. Christ contains the law, the law does not contain Christ.

😢The distinction between the Ten Commandments and the other laws of Moses lies in their origin, purpose, nature, inscription, significance in Christianilty, location in the sanctuary: 1. Origin: - Ten Commandments: Also known as the Decalogue, these were given directly by God to Moses on Mount Sinai and were inscribed on two stone tablets by God himself. (Exodus 20:1-17; Deuteronomy 5:4-21,10:1-4). - Other Laws of Moses: These include the ceremonial, civil, and moral laws that God gave to the Israelites through Moses, detailed primarily in the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. 2. Purpose: - Ten Commandments: These are fundamental moral principles intended to guide the ethical and spiritual conduct of all people. They are seen as universal and timeless. (Matthew 5:17-48) - Other Laws of Moses: These laws include detailed regulations for worship (ceremonial laws), guidelines for social justice and community living (civil laws), and additional moral directives. They were specifically given to the nation of Israel to govern their religious, social, and political life. 3. Nature: - Ten Commandments: These commandments are concise and comprehensive, addressing broad principles of morality and worship. (Exodus 20:1-17) - Other Laws of Moses: These laws are more detailed and specific, covering a wide range of topics from community hygiene to procedures for sacrifices and festivals. 4. Inscription: - Ten Commandments: Written by the finger of God on stone tablets, symbolizing their universality, permanence and divine authority (Exodus 31:18; Deuteronomy 9:10). - Other Laws of Moses: Written by Moses in a book (the Torah), indicating their role in guiding the daily life and worship of the Israelites (Deuteronomy 31:9). 5. Significance in Christianity: - Ten Commandments: Still relevant and applicable, forming a basis for Christian ethics. Written in the heart and mind in the new Covenant. (Matthew 5:17-48, James 2:8-10, Hebrews 8:10) - Other Laws of Moses: The ceremonial and civil laws were fulfilled by Jesus Christ and are no longer binding on Christians (Colossians 2:14-17; Hebrews 10:1-10). 6. Location in the sanctuary: -Ten Commandments: Placed inside the Ark of the Covenant (Deuteronomy10:2,5) -Other Laws of Moses: Placed by the side of the Ark of the Covenant (Deuteronomy 31:24-26) This distinction highlights the unique role of the Ten Commandments as a perpetual foundational moral code, while the other laws of Moses served to govern the specific covenant relationship between God and the nation of Israel.

"Under the law" means under the penalty of the law, that is the death penalty. A saved person has their sins forgiven and the penalty has been removed. They are not "under the law" An unsaved person is still under the law, that is the penalty of the law [death] and that is what they need saving from. If you replace the expression "not under the law" with being saved and "under the law" with not being saved the meaning may be clearer. Obedience to the law is not referred to here. Obedience is required whether we are saved or not. That's the problem-the disobedient are still unrepentant sinners and not saved. The obedient are repentant sinners who keep the law. Not that we earn our salvation by works-we don't. We are saved by grace but we are still required to obey the law because disobedience is sin and brings us the death penalty, that is we are "under the law".

The new testament causes men to forget the name of YHWH and His mighty works for the name of a man who was born and died like all created fleh has or will. Until then it is only speculation that the new testament claims. Jesus came and went as all men before have done. The first commandment sets the stage for us as to how we are to percieve God and how we are to worship Him: Exo 20:2 I am YHWH thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Exo 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. We are commanded to percieve YHWH as the only source and power that brought Israel out of bondage and that no other names are to be equated to His as that sorce or power.
