i think the math teachers think they are smart thus they try to make the subject hard for the layman so they can inflate their ego and call u dumb, they try to explain in a complicated way and throw as many info in your face at once so you get confused and give up, the best learning is self learning imo

Oh god, man... I can totally relate. Came here after finally realizing the concepts of volume and area on my own. Couldnt figure out Pi. Why aren't we taught this shit in school? It's waaaay better than having kids blindly memorize meaningless formulas. This makes them think (but Im sure you already knows that, haha.)
@johnlu5856 жыл бұрын
QuidQuoPro You’re right for the majority of the school system, but the system lets teachers bend the rules a bit so the students can understand. For example , some teachers like my teacher, Mr. Heine, legit makes us understand why fractions are fractions, algebra is algebra and don’t even get me started on geography. I agree with you for the majority of what you’re saying, unless you have that 1 teacher. Wait... why don’t you just ask the teacher after school is over? That’s what I do.

I'm just here to say thank. When I was a kid, my teachers never explained to me what was exactly PI. Everybody knew PI=3.14 without knowing what PI was. We just knew it was just part of a formula. I went to college and utilized PI zillion of times. For some weird reason, today the perimeter formula C=2PIr pops up to my head. I got curious then realized that I only knew the value of PI without knowing what it was. It took me forty years to find out. Thank you!

Michael Humphrey You got an amazing point. Actually, there's no exact perimeter to a circle. NEVER. Consequently, there is never a exact area to a circle. Its always a transcendental number. Yeah, its pretty weird. There is a exact number to a square (for example), but never to a circle.

Pi is nothing but a long terminating decimal...i think..
@zapole5 жыл бұрын
Well, there is imaginary perfect circle, but there is no such a thing as perfect circle in our reality, nor can you find it in nature because if you zoom deep enough then you will encounter that all stuff is made from atoms whose are constantly moving and thus if you measure something on atomic level its still not round enough to call it perfect circle. same with computer, you can draw a circle on your screen but then again its made out of pixels which are firstly not round and secondly the necessary density is not enough(infinity is needed). you can't even draw a perfect circle through formula cause it will go on and on.... so there is and there isn't such thing as perfect circle. I found very interesting book that Im reading right now about it if you want to investigate it further. It's called A history of the circle by Ernest Zebrowski. Your casual burger king employee ;)

The symbol pi represents a number that has an exact value (the amount of times the diameter of a circle wraps around its circumference) However, if we try to represent this exact value in terms of a number, the digits of the number go on forever. We can not show an exact value for pi by representing it as 3.14159..... so instead we give this number the symbol "pi" to represent it's exact value.

Many people are taught that Pi is 3.14159... but not where it came from. Also remember that it's important to know it is a ratio. Knowing the ratio one can calculate a certain value based on the corresponding value. Whatever the diameter of the circle is, the ratio remains constant. Ratios are important in many other things. Thanks for the video.

Ok this is what I cannot figure out, so I am asking for help: The circumference of a circle is found by multiplying the circle's diameter (which is a finite length) by Pi (which is irrational because there is not a final number beyond Pi's decimal point). So with that in mind, this is what I can't figure out: Let's imagine we have a circle with a diameter of 1 unit of length. That would mean that the circle's circumference (which is finite in length) would exactly equal the value of the constant Pi, which goes on infinitely! How can a finite length equal exactly, the value of a number that goes on for infinity?? Help!!!
