what's cooler about pi is where it comes up in other places in math. From pi squared over 6 equaling the sum of the reciprocal squared numbers to eulers identity being e^ipi = -1, or how every function, using fourier transforms, can be represented as sine waves which are functions of a circle essentially, which ALSO have to do with pi.

Pi is cool, but I like so many other irrational numbers, and they’re so underrated. Phi is actually the most irrational number ever. And it’s part of a massive series called the metallic ratios (a lot of seashells are not actually phi, but instead some other metallic ratio). E is a number that is in such a way that the derivative of e^x is e^x! And it gives the limit of an infinitely precise exponential growth curve! (E is my favorite if you can’t tell). Tau is pi*2, and actually is MORE useful than pi itself! It’s the ratio of the radius to the circumference. Tau shows up far more often in physics. Pi is cool, and it shows up pretty much everywhere, but so do all the great irrational numbers. All hail math!

As I navigate the unfamiliar corridors, the gravity of the situation sets in. The walls seem to close in on me, and the pain in my stomach intensifies with each step. I stumble upon a room filled with monitors, the screens flickering with static. One of them catches my attention-it displays a live feed of the room I woke up in. A chill runs down my spine as I watch myself, or rather, a version of me lying motionless on the floor. The gaping wound is still there, a grotesque reminder of what happened. Hey James, I love math too, and this vid made me really happy... until the end. Cause it's true. We do only celebrate pi because it's got a weird name. But it's an amazing number just the same. Also, my school has a nationally recognized math club I want to join. It's called Mu Alpha Theta (Yes, the Greek letters), and it's such a satisfying logo. First, take the M, A, and TH, and you get MATH. Second, theta is actually uses in trig. And third, the logo proves the Pythagorean Theorem. The logo is a right triangle, with aides measuring at 3, 4, and 5. Then a square is drawn off each side, so that you have 3 squares with the perimeters 9, 16, 25. Put the smaller sides together to get 25 and you've proved the Pythagorean Theorem. Sorry for rambling, I know that know this, I just wanted to explain. Cause it makes me happy. I disagree that the success of Pi is due only to it´s funny name. Pi is famous all around the world, and, to my knowledge, it´s name is only funny in english speaking countries. Here in my country it´s pronunciation is way more close to it´s greeks origins, we say it kinda like "pee". Ok, I guess that would still be funny in english... But to us it´s not a pun at all, and math people still like the number anyway.
