Mind is a bundle of thoughts. Go to the source of the thoughts. From where does all thoughts originate? This is the question which Ramana Maharishi asks. The answer is - Consciousness is the source. This consciousness is unlimited according to Indian Vedantha. This Cosmic consciousness is God according to Vedas. Human consciousness is a reflected consciousness like the moon light is a reflection of sunlight.

Thoughts emerge from the stored memories in the brain when triggered by a particular sensation. For example, you hate Mr. A but not Mr. B. When a trigger arrives due to Mr. A, thoughts emerge when different parts of your brain are mapped (your bad memories of Mr. A) to produce a particular thought (like Mr. A is bad) and then an action follows depending on the nature and intensity of those thoughts. Thoughts and image appear in the so-called field of consciousness (aka mind), and you experience something (ex hatred towards Mr. A). When you are unconscious, MR. A can do anything to you, but you will not feel or experience anything because the field of consciousness is not active. Whatever thoughts are presented to the consciousness, that is what you will experience. So, your brain (memories etc) is crucial for your unique experience, and you need to be conscious. If you don't have bad memories or if you carefully erase bad memories of Mr. A, you will not be able to present those hateful thoughts to the consciousness to experience something. The pure Consciousness (similar to the Brahman or pure Atman)), as defined in the Vedanta, is similar to the mind consciousness without any content. It is called the silent witness. It is like a blank slate. It does not experience anything until you add content to it by building memories in your brain by means of DNA, lifestyle, preconditioning, whatsapp university, and religious affiliations). Then it acts like the regular mind, thinking that it is great, all others are wrong, your culture is great, others are evil, anyone who opposes your view is anti Indian etc). That is why the Vedanta says get rid of your Ego (content) and realize the real YOU. If you accumulate wrong information, your brain will generate wrong thoughts and output and that is presented to the field of consciousness to experience something. Thoughts do not originate in the consciousness, but they are illumined in the field of conscience to experience something. Thoughts originate in the brain. According to the original Vedanta (3,500 years ago), the concept of creator and Gods are rejected outright. Unfortunately, the later traditions of the Bhakthi movement created many alluring stories about various Gods etc in the Puranas (1,200 years ago) because many of these big pandits could not digest the rejection of creator. They corrupted the original Vedanta and Upanishads by inserting creator God everywhere. These are the ones who equate the Brahman with Narayana, Vishnu, Shiva. According to the Vedanta, the Brahman is unknowable, unthinkable, indescribable and you cannot even think of Brahman. No attributes at all and BEYOND the mind. Given all of this, your God cannot be this Brahman because your Gods have various attributes. Of course, you can imagine anything you want because you like something so much, but that does not mean that that is what is in the Vedanta.

Brain is physical. Mind is logical. The construction of the logic ... The algorithm of the logic is highly layered and recursive. The data structure that goes with the algorithm is derived from 3 primary methods. 1. Learning 2. Experiencing n 3. Imagination. There is another term: Manas मनस। That is strong hard emotional plugin upon the mind's algorithm.

To admit that love is in the brain is to admit that it is limited by that brain. He is like a Platonist espousing an ideal form, an ideal of "love" in this case which precedes and transcends the individual brain it exists in. Who can believe this? And why would the idea of the limitations imposed on love by the capacity of the individual brain be so hard to accept? Love is a word and therefore is what mediates the world for us and is impossible to exist beyond the capacity of the person.

I think there is one part of the brain which remains untouched by the conditioned part and so not limited and which can perceive the activities of the conditioned part objectively.Universal love, compassion, goodness, choice less awareness belong to this part. An enlightened person is out of the influence of the conditioned part by choice less awareness of the narrowness of bondages created by the conditioned part.

I think we should be fairly clear from the beginning as to what is the intention of this gathering. It should not, I feel, degenerate in any way into a mere intellectual exchange of words and ideas or an exposition of one's own point of view. We are not dealing with ideas, because ideas are merely the expression of one's own conditioning, one's own limitations. To argue over ideas, who is right and who is wrong, is surely utterly futile. Rather let us explore our problems together. Instead of being lookers-on, as at a game being played, let us take part, each one of us, in these discussions and see if we can penetrate very deeply into our problems - not only the problems of the individual but of the collective. I feel it should be possible for us to go beyond the mutterings, the chattering of the mind, beyond all worldly demands and influences, and to discover for ourselves what is true. And in discovering what is true we shall lie able to confront, to be with, the many problems which each one of us has.

If you answer something in a yes, it means you have known it to be such, the speaker is agreeing with what you have read and believed and then you answer yes, which is of no use, because it doesn't bring a radical change. Don't agree or disagree.

Brain is conditioned and limited, everything in the brain is conditioned (thought , memmory and imaginations). Mind is unlimited and free so definitely it is outside the brain.be aware of the conditionigs of the brain and look at movements always without an observer.when brain is become aware of its conditionigs and realize 'what is actual' then may be mind become available to the brain.

@@Last.Dark.Emperor sir definitely information stored in memmory and it's conditionings determines how we think and act. Knowledge is limited so thought is always limited thus all our actions are limited and contradictory. To understand life we should aware of our conditionings observe the thought and it's movements . By negating what is not comes what is. Mind is common to all human beings it is full and unlimited.

Observing without an observer. As K. likes to often question the listener - is it possible? He has to make this distinction, a junction point / sign post along the journey - together. For those who are unable to observe without the observer, how can they travel along? The best they can do is revisit the dialog, when they are capable. This is just one of his 'is it possible'? At each of his junction points, this is true. It's amusing to listen to the whole dialog. But one must be honest and accept - one is not travelling with K. One has limitations, being aware of that limitation... in that one instance - one gas grasped - a bit. One can take years and years - or.... Let me rewind K's dialogue, once more. 🐒phew...

So if Love is not personal and it is not of the brain then the human brain must be personal. I see Crows brain or the dogs brain is also personal and the love and tricks they perform is for getting a treat. What about the universal brain? Is there something like that? If it is there then it must be operating universally, not favoring any particular part of the universe and love maybe it’s nature. To call it the universal mind or universal brain has no meaning as it must operate through the particular mind/brain.
