Replace the cooling system before 10 years or 150k miles and replace the transmission fluid every 60k and they will literally run forever.

Couldn’t agree more , the cooling system is the weak point , once u eliminate that not much goes wrong , except possibly shocks, dpf, and egr etc which is the sane fir any car , but I use a bmw and do 1000 miles a week and it’s never let me down , so far 120.000 Miles trouble free , only paid for break pads and services

Got that right.... my 93 325i has 700k miles....... only issues I can remember.... replaced quite a few drive shafts each rear side... is a cv joint type of shaft ... rebuilt front end at 300k .... drove like a new one hands off several miles without touching stearing wheel.... replaced with a used 112k manual transmission around 300k... maybe a couple wheel bearings here and there I pressed in myself... 1 or 2 fan belt tensioners pulley and belts.... lol best car in the world.. buy your own dash light service light tool do your own $500-1000 inspections...lol

My 330 ci has been very reliable, I just do the regular maintenance. The key in buying a used car in general is the number of owners and maintenance records , this will show what issues the car had and that the car was cared for
@andrewnunnes

What’s the minimum amount of owners, and a good amount of maintenance records before I cut off the car from my watchlist?
@djnohands3632
@djnohands3632 Жыл бұрын
@@andrewnunnes take this with a grain of salt but honestly if you want to be safe about it just go with one owner 2 at most. With three owners it can be good just look at how long each owner used it for. If the second owner and third owner have a 1 year gap of owning the car then that tells you something is wrong cause why would they let the car go that fast?

You forgot the M20 motor. I bought a 325is 1990 with the m20b25 motor with 192,000 miles, change the timing belt and water pump (which did not actually need changing at the time but wanted to get it out-of-the-way) and basically beat it to death for another 125k. Not a single issue whatsoever. Sold it about a year ago to a kid in Utah who drove out to California to buy it for me. He sends me pictures every once in a while and so far he says the motor is still running strong. It’s got to be nearing 330k+

I had to pull over luckily there was an exit and parked by a McDonald’s. Luckily someone gave me a jump but after 1 minute it shut off and same errors car wouldn’t start. Called my girlfriend to pick me up and I took my battery to autozone because I had warranty and they have me a new one for free. It started right up but I still got to battery charging malfunction light but luckily I made it to the mechanic. E39 530i. When I combed through endless forums I kept coming across the 2000 530i as the most reliable bmw. Of course experiences vary but I can't help but agree the lack of turbo's helps. Along with all of the extra computer systems on the e60 and so fourth.. I own a e60 535i. and it has been expensive to maintain on a tip based job.

I'd say a 2006-2007 BMW E90 325-328 is probably the best BMW u can get for the money. Decent Interior / Exterior and the overall driving feeling is amazing. Surprisingly reliable as well. From where I live , I see them going for 5-8k with around 100k-120k Miles which is pretty fair for what the car offers. They go for the same price as Civic's and Corolla's of the same year / Mileage. Used to own one last year and it's hands down the best BMW u can get for the money . I still remember how people used to think that my 2006 was a 2011 and that I paid 20-25k for it.

Abdul Maxamad Maybe he lives somewhere in the EU, that got the N53 engine, which has got Direct injection and injector problems that the N52 doesn't have. EU model e9x, had the N52 engine during 2005-2007 (pre-lci) 2008-2012 (lci) had the N53. US model e9x, only had N52 all the way 2005-2012 (pre-lci and lci. Why the US only had the N52 engine was due to the fuel quality in US I believe.

ohhhh lol makes sense now thanks. I'm now considering the 335i from the same years. Is that a bad idea. Its a way faster car and with a couple mods under 1k like a jb4 your car will be a beast on the road. I know a 335i is less reliable than the 328i but by how much exactly? Is it a big difference in maintenance and reliably in the long run?
@MrKeepitup83
@MrKeepitup83 7 жыл бұрын
Abdul Maxamad The engines in the 335i isn't that much less reliable than the N52 engine in the 328i. The engines are solid, it's only the parts around them that tends to fail. You got the N54 on the pre-lci 335i and the N55 on the 335i lci. Both are great choices. I'd say go for it if your budget is OK. And buy it with a warranty if you can, it could save you some $$. In the long run it would be a bit more costly, but not by much than the 328i. The general problems I know of on 335i would be the carbon buildup every 50-60k miles, which you can walnut blast the intake ports. Other problems is the water pump and HPFP and wastegate rattle. The N55 should be a bit more reliable than the N54, regarding the carbon buildup and HPFP. Search around in BMW forums about common problems on the N54 and N55. You'll find more info there. And if you would to buy a 335i, ask a BMW dealer about the cars' history of what has been done to it, warranty repairs etc, maintenance and services. Good luck.

I have a very beautiful E91 M sport, the engine still sounds like new after 123K miles, she corners on rails and it is such a great daily driver. However, it costs a small fortune to replace and keep the suspension on point, tyres aren't cheap either. I put new P-zeros on the back every 6 months. Our Irish roads are very, very hard on the m sport suspension and they are sooooo finely tuned.

I’ve had 8 new BMWs since 2004, and from a 3, 5er, X5 and X3’s and I’ve had no major issues in any of them. The only issue I had that was major was a 2008 328i the valves had to be replaced, under warranty. But it’s the people that buy used BMWs that have many times not been maintained correctly, and sadly by much younger people. I also found German made BMWs were much better vs say the South African built 328i.

Just one heads up about the 325i/328i with the N52 engine. The valve lifters can go bad, as there was a design flaw in the production of this specific component between the model year 2005-2007. I have a 2007 325i and I do have the lifter problem but it quiets down when the engine starts to get warm so it's not a problem yet. Otherwise a great video and I agree with every single point :)

Lets see all the money ive spent on the car has been general maintenance which is expected.. oil changes, spark plugs, coilpacks, valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, blown shock so i upgraded to koni yellow shocks and H&R Sport springs, brake pads, rotors (slotted), tires, Alignments, 02 sensor.. its all the stuff that ANY car would ask you to change really if you are on top of your maintenance you're good to go.. Sure you have to pay for 93 octane gas and some parts are a little bit more pricier than other cars but the car is worth the extra money spent based on the comfort and performance it delivers.. its a really great bang for your buck. PS this is without including any aesthetic mods I've spent on it.. just dont beat on it and take care of it and its a great daily for sure.

I bought a used 2007 BMW E92 330i back in 2013, it had 109,000 km on the clock (a bit less than 68K miles). This is a 3.0 liter inline six normally aspirated port injection N52 magnesium engine delivering 272hp at 7,000 rpm. It's my weekend car, I do roughly 8,000 km a year with it, so not an awful lot. Now with 142k km on the clock. No HPFP issues (only low pressure fuel pump in this model) port injected (no direct injection so valves get cleaned by fuel), no turbo failures (normally aspirated), no electric failures, no limp mode, no horror stories. Maybe I've been lucky I don't know but the only thing I did to the car was change the battery this year, it was 11 years old from factory, not bad, would still start but the crank was a bit longer than usual and I didn't want to risk it. That was a 100 euros job at an independent trusted garage. The other thing that needs fixing is the rear parking sensor which no longer works. I won't be repairing it as I don't need it. That's it. Other BMW owners in the community advise to look out for a few things prone to go at some point (electric water pump, thermostat, valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, oil pan gasket). But so far so good, touch wood. It only cost me 15.5K euros back in 2013, was worth 54K new with the few extras (amazing montego blue, full cream leather interior, piano black decoration, M3 wheels, sports suspension etc.). A very clean and uncluttered dashboard, no useless idrive, no obsolete navi, no touchscreens, good old fashion buttons feeling solid, almost a sober cabin by today's luxury standards with no gadgets, no nonsense. The only entertainment I get is when plugging my 2013 160gb iPod (I still use one of these) via the digital port into a very decent stereo with well rounded speakers, or my phone (using the jack, although not as good a sound as iPod). The real pleasure comes from the driving, the way it communicates to me through the steering wheel, the pedals and the manual gearbox. The precision of the steering and the smooth progression of the accelerator is a real joy. It's not crazy fast like a turbo 335 but plenty enough for me, still manages 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.9s. This is all the car I need to put a smile on my face. So in my experience with the limited use I make of it, I'm extremely satisfied for the money I paid.

I driven cross country, drove to work, school, and honestly it has satisfied me. I did regular maintenance such as oil change and filter every 3000 miles. Between 150000-180000 miles I changed a lot of parts. From the radiator, alternator, starter, water pump, thermostat, fluids, spark plugs, ignition coils, air filter, new shocks, rotors, brakes, tires, had to do a paint job in both bumpers bc NY drivers are horrible at parking. Seats are not even ripped which I’m still surprised. Parts were expensive along with labor, but when you invest so much on a car that your financing and don’t want it getting repossessed by the bank, by the time you pay it off, your lose is someone else’s gain. My insurance decreased too significantly because cars that have a lien on it, insurance companies will Charge you more. So by the time I paid it off, I was like well, it hasn’t disappointed me, I invested in it heavily and don’t want to risk getting another car with a loan and banks charge you really high interest rates and theses dealers are very manipulative on making money the second you walk in. A $10000 car with a 72 month financing agreement, your paying double the amount when it’s finished. Leases, you have mileage restrictions, and your auto insurance is high too. Best bet, have a paid off car and drive normal and don’t abuse it, your vehicle will run perfectly.

I think what most people don't realize when you buy a luxury car is that it comes with luxury pricing on parts and maintenance. If BMW had a lower level division like with Lincoln and ford, getting parts replaced would be more affordable and easier to find and do like with my grand marquis , I can fix it for the price of a crown Vic because it's just the upscale model. Beamers can run forever if you take care of them just like any other car, but it's just the premium that will make it hard Congrats on over 2k subs bro! Just followed you on insta

Ey, Omar! 328i sedan is definitely an awesome buy! I drive my parents' BMW 328i around quite a bit and it's great for the street, you can floor it for a good 3-4 seconds before getting into trouble so it has the right amount of power and torque for the street and the N/A 6 has pretty good response. The torque converter 6 speed auto is also quite smooth and pretty fun if you use it like a manual and expect delays in shifts. And it does burnouts, don't tell my mom LOL

Just bought my very first BMW this week and I pick it up tomorrow. It's a 2008 328xi 6spd manual transmission that was a 1 owner car and has only 80k miles on it. Never any accidents. All maintenance records and service was done at BMW. It was owned by a woman in her 50's who traded it in for a 2019 Honda Accord. I had to pay a little more because I bought it from a dealer but after taxes and dealer fees and registration and insurance it cost me $8,800. I think it was a fair deal. I hope the car lasts awhile, it is an absolute pleasure to drive. My last ride was a 1995 Jeep Cherokee with 270k miles, which i still plan to drive to take fishing or save miles on the BMW. That motor is also a straight 6 4.0L and is absolutely bulletproof! Thanks for the video!

Looking into a 325i or 323i E90. Preferably an LCI but if there’s a nice pre LCI it’s also an option. The two I’m looking at both heave the V6 2.5L engine. I was wondering if you knew anything about it or if they’re reliable. Most listed in my price range have about 70,000km-100,000km. I know V6s tend to last longer in general but is it the same case with these? It’s a first car so I’d like it to be reliable and fairly cheap to maintain. Thanks.

I work for a shop that works on a lot of BMW's. That said, every 3 series at one time or another will suffer from: Leaking valve cover gasket, leaky oil stand gasket (Can become a serious issue if left unchecked and your belt brakes), oil pan gasket. N54's turbos love to go, and suffer from carbon build up. Also issues with fuel injectors, low pressure/high pressure fuel pumps, coil failures, and electric water pump and thermostats.

E90 328 (N52 Engine) common problems: starters are weak. Water pumps are electric and weak (mine failed at 67k). Valve cover gaskets go bad (replaced mine at 90k). Oil filter housing gaskets go bad (still have to do mine). Window regulators are somewhat bad (two were replaced under warranty). E90 335 (N54 Engine) common problems: all listed in the 328 section plus... high pressure fuel pumps go bad (literally have seen people replace their 5-6 different times). Turbo wastegates begin to rattle and eventually fail. They are known the have injector issues. Charge pipes from factory are very weak and fail. The 335 is waaaay more expensive to own. IMO not worth the extra cost unless your plan is big power. Daily driving the 328 is the better car. But if you're set on the more powerful 335, look for an N55 engine car. (2010 and up 335). It's less tune able but when you keep them stock, the n55 is the better engine. Torque comes in sooner, more efficient and far more reliable than N54.

Plus mine has fairly low mileage; ALMOST at the 150,000kilometer (yes I'm Canadian) mark. The motor is happy to rev up high, the steering is quick and direct, and even my mom can drive it. I get a 17mpg average which is 80% city driving. I HIGHLY recommend the e46 - e90 323, 325, 328 and 330's. First thing's first, I need an ECU tune to raise the rev limiter, delete the speed limiter, gain some hp/tq, and get the transmission (auto unfortunately) runner smoother. Then
