Hey, I think I found a nice line against this: 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 d5 4. cxd5 Nxd5 5. Na4 Nf6 6. Nf3 Bg7 7. Bf4 O-O 8. e3 Nbd7 9. Rc1 c6 10. Nc3 c5. Equal, but where black has the typical Gruenfeld action - so basically improved for black vs. mainlines without a lot of novel features. 10. Nc3 and 10. a3 are what have been played in master games. With some other tries included: 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 d5 4. cxd5 Nxd5 5. Na4 Nf6 6. Nf3 (6. f3 Nc6 7. e3 e5 8. Bb5 exd4) 6... Bg7 7. Bf4 (7. g3 Nc6 8. Bg2 e5) 7... O-O 8. e3 Nbd7 9. Rc1 c6 10. Nc3 (10. b4 Nd5 11. Bg3 Nxb4) (10. a3 b5 (10... Nh5 11. Bg5 h6 12. Bh4 g5 13. Bg3 Nxg3 14. hxg3 e5) 11. Nc3 a6 12. b4 a5) 10... c5

Currently looking to integrate this variation into my repertoire for white as the mainlines are too simple for booked up black players. Thanks for showing this line as it's indeed a challenge to get an advantage against. I think Bf4 makes the game too flat too easily, as it's simple for black to trade it off. It's basically giving a tempo just to make it easy for black to get rid of another piece. White should focus on the upside of preventing c5 and get the minority rolling instead of looking for kingside play.

Agreed. I play the London and want it refuted.

It's only kind of a refutation but just play 2. ... c5 or even 1. ... c5, white will either force a London and get an inferior position (in many positions you can play qb6 for example) or get a Benoni position which is still pretty great for black

Of course if you dont like closed positions this doesn't work but you play the KID

Do you think you could cover the Evans Gambit for white? It looks really interesting judging from the Leela and Alpha Zero Games. Love your videos

Literally just develop while harassing the queen. Obviously declining the mate. But the main point is to punish the early queen development.
