A friend of mine gave me your book a few weeks ago. I’m in a Foursquare church and had never heard of this movement before I read your book. After I read it I was appalled at the direction the NAR people were going. My first thought after I read it was that No man ever appoints an apostle or a prophet, only God can do that. And in the Word the people who God called to these offices usually didn’t want the job! I believe that the same gifts Jesus gave to the disciples are still possible today. The things and ideas happening in the NAR movement are just weird. It’s no wonder some so called Christians wander from church to church looking for the next new emotional demonstration. They never have developed the deep faith from studying the word and listening to the Holy Spirit to be able to discern and test the spirits. Thank you for exposing this movement. I agree with you, some of it approaches new age teachings.

Exactly the holy spirit guides you to the biblical truth. Just as he inspired the writing of the NT. The Holy Spirit, the helper, as Jesus told us himself in the gospel, the helper, the spirit which proceeds from Father.

There is no reason to believe we have the same gifts the Apostles did. Foursquare also has terrible, unChristian roots. Aimee Semple McPherson was a fornicator. Well-documented. She started Foursquare. You should research that, leave and find a church that has good roots and is clear on preaching the Gospel. Foursquare has witchcraft tendencies in many cases.

Holly and Doug are very good at what they do; their expose’ of the NAR is well researched and presented. I live in a geographical area highly influenced by a cult that has high jacked the words and titles of Apostle and Prophet as well. The kingdom of darkness has laid claim to those words and titles, that alone is lesson number one.

I was roaring with laughter, after reading, " contrary to the doctrine ye have learned". That's the rub. That's the fly in the ointment. That's the liar doing it to the church. As a former atheist, I'm totally dismayed how quickly the very words of Christ, if he is the truth, are made invalid by doctrine, of the vast majority. I see nothing in that new movement any different from the current cookie cutter, Sunday is the Lord's day, nonsense. Can't even get past Mathew 4:4, but ignore and go on anyway, not caring what it means.

Thank you for differentiating between NAR and other pentecostal churches. Ive been mostly in the AOG for most of my life. I have been very very unhappy about the lumping together of all in one, which we are not.

Holly, you do have a foundation in this topic. And your firsthand experience and the way you presented it do some good. I encourage you to do some further research though. Around 5:30 to 6:12 minutes in (the end of the video) you said that Pentecostals, and Assemblies of God people have endorses the book and some of them "are critics of this movement." Please put a BIG asterisk, italics, highlight, and footnote on SOME. AOG did have a history of preaching the Gospel. And AOG churches do have a history of local autonomy. By no means am I going to critique nor make blanket statements about all AOG and Pentecostal churches. However, Bethel-Redding came out of AOG, and endorsed it in the beginning, especially in California. That is still the case, in Bethel-Redding and it's "School of Supernatural Ministry" have huge influence on AOG, Charasmatic, and Seek-Friendly churches in Northern California, and other places. Bethel-Reddings practice of "Christian Tarot cards" is definitely witchcraft, and has made its was into many AOG and other churches, all over California. In 2016-2019 I was involved with AOG churches that full endorsed Bethel-Redding and claimed what was going on their was Christianity- with no evidence to support that position. New Year's Eve 2016/2017 I was at a church event at an AOG church that was promoting movements and "ministries" affiliated with Bethel-Redding, and a Los Angeles offshoot. The Gospel was NOT preached, everyone was encouraged to speak in "tongues" (rananana-shananana type nonsense). I understand your point that all charasmatics should not be lumped together. Generally, that is true. But I have seen many examples in Northern CA, Southern CA (Angeles Temple), and Kansas, where the lumping together is actually totally fair. Yes, it depends, but many charasmatics have affiliated themselves with this garbage- I know because I was one who fell into that error. Many charasmatics pastors have lead their flocks into this heresy, just as they have promoted other errors, like female church leadership. AOG and other "churches" that come out of the 1914 Azusa Street Revival have horrible roots. Some of them may have some Christian teaching, many have done good things that can be pointed out, but like Foursquare, they all have a terrible origin and foundation, if you look at the facts. I hope many repent and believe in Jesus Christ.

What's your thoughts on Post millenialism? It sounds like some viewpoints cross over from NAR and post millenialism? Just curious. Thank you for clarifying that you aren't demonizing traditional charismatic or pentecostal teachings. I find a lot of people throwing all charismatics/pentecostals into the same NAR basket.

I personally don't find support for postmillennialism in Scripture. That being said, there are many sound Christians who have held to classical postmillennialism, believing the kingdom of God will be established on earth prior to Christ's return through the proclamation of the gospel. But the NAR version of postmillennialism--the view that the kingdom of God will be established on earth through the employment of strategies revealed by present-day apostles and prophets--is very different from classical postmillennialism and is aberrant.

Post Millenialism has nothing to do with NAR. All Post Mil folks I'm aware of are Cessationist. HUGE different right there, no crossover.

I think this NAR problem is largely a problem within the restorationist movement and not the cessationist camp. (No one is really a continuationist because Church history does not indicate the continued practice of the gifts until the late 1800s. People who insist the gifts are for today are really restorationists.) Cessationists are not as susceptible to fall for the weird practices of the NAR as the restorationists.

It's true that, since cessationists do not believe in the present-day miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit, they would be less likely to embrace NAR doctrine. But many continuationists are also concerned about NAR.

@@Dilley_G45 the scripture you are referencing is speaking about the return of Jesus and us being in God's glory - 'Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. (1 Corinthians 13:8-12, KJV)' No one is seeing God face to face here. It doesn't support cessationism. There is no other scripture that says the gifts ceased or will cease.

To say the new apostolic reformation is not part of Pentecostalism and charismatics is akin to saying a father has nothing to do with his son. New apostolic reformation movement is another slant or variant from Pentecostalism. Think of it this way Pentecostalism is an off shoot of the holiness movement. If you really have interest in getting to the heart of the matter this goes all the way back to Lutheran Pietism. All movements descended from Lutheran Pietism are kooky, wonky, strange and to be completely avoid and hopefully one day given up. So silly.

Apostolic gifts continuing after the Apostolic age. Gifts of healing, prophecy, etc. A cessationist belives those gifts ended with the 12 Apostles. Cessasionists do belive miracles happen , but they are not a gifting. Thats a quick deacription.

Still buy that Lord's day non biblical thing, while professing love and obedience to God? In very little time, this movement will settle down to the mainstream norms, no real substance, a sameness that resides with the other multitude of denominations and doctrine. From this video, the funny part, is about the "Revelations", of the movement, while the word of God calls true Christianity, a remnant, by the time all is said and done. Mt. 4:4 What is the law that cannot pass away until heaven and earth pass? The ten commandments. What did Christ, ipse dixit, say concerning the commandments? To keep them. Mt. 19:17. Is Christ the way and truth? What is all the law? Mt. 22:36-40. I challenge you to make a SPECIFIC list of ways to love God. Hint: the first 4 of the commandments. The ten commandments, are eternal law, only first expressed to the Israelites, and valid, good, and HOLY, to the end of time, as Revelation says so. 22:14. Are you not aware the commandments are completely different from the 600 plus laws through Moses? It's because they didn't come from, nor through Moses, but by the voice of God to the great crowd of Israelites, who heard God. Eleven of those tribes not Jewish. Then there's the matter of your deliberate insistence on being the subject of 1 John 2:3-4. Why?
