very important question. Honestly i cant see any such resources as available resources are all as faulty as wikipedia. I think most of them are copy from wikipedia.

Sir, is there any specific name for the starched bengali handloom cotton sari? Will it be wrong to call it Bangla taant - implying that it is the taat or handloom sari variety of bengal?

Raw cotton is good with starch if you don't want it to be soft. Traditionally Bengali ladies liked crunchy cotton sarees thats why cotton sarees got starched. it have nothing to do with craft...its all about end user experience.
