Hi, can you do a video for TOK prompt #13? I would really appreciate your help understanding it. Many thanks for considering my request.

Absolutely ! I like that prompt. I'm having a bit of a break over Christmas, but I'll certainly put something together in the new year. In the meantime you may find these notes useful: toktoday.com/product/how-can-we-know-that-current-knowledge-is-an-improvement-upon-past-knowledge-explained/

Is it possible to use a object that supports the claim that personal experience doesn’t have a relationship with knowledge
@toktoday7978

Yes, absolutely use that claim. That's an excellent claim to explore, it gets right to the heart of this question, it will require you to make a clear distinction between personal experience and knowledge. Excellent thinking !

hello! would it be considered plagiarism if I were to use your arguments?
@toktoday7978
@toktoday7978 Жыл бұрын
The arguments are fairly general, and could easily be devised by anyone. Therefore I don't think it's plagiarism to use the arguments. However, it would be plagiarism to copy the unpacking of the arguments word for word. Just write them in your own words. Thanks for the comment & good luck with your Exhibition.

object #1 generic, but #2 & 3 have clear personal connection
@toktoday7978
@toktoday7978 5 ай бұрын
A generic object is a problem, it would need to be made specific. None of the objects have to have a personal connection, they do have to be specific - toktoday.com/2023/07/04/do-the-objects-need-to-be-personal/?amp=1 Thanks for your comment.

What would be your overall answer to this prompt?
@toktoday7978
@toktoday7978 3 ай бұрын
Like all good ToK answers my answer would be "it depends on how we define personal experience and knowledge". The whole prompt is about defining terms, Wittgenstein rules after all. Thanks for the comment. What would be your overall answer to this prompt ?

@@toktoday7978 Im using an MRI scan of my knee (I tore my ACL) as one of my objects. How do you think I could link it to the prompt?
@toktoday7978
@toktoday7978 3 ай бұрын
Ouch ! You could use the object as something along the lines of "I didn't know that I had an ACL until I experienced tearing it" - this shows that tangible, first hand experiences, are required to produced knowledge that goes beyond the rational hypothetical.
