A depiction of the sun should be included in this model. It is difficult to understand if and how the shadows that are said to cause eclipses actually work, when the object from which light is emanating is not included in the animation. In fact, I do not see how the light would be blocked at any time when the distances between these objects are as great as they are said to be.

Actually....the farther away an object is the easier it would be to block out it's light. If the moon was really close to the sun it would be impossible for it's tiny size to block out very much light, when seen from a distance. A great example is to look at a light bulb. Now close one eye and hold your thumb up in front of the bulb. You'll see that as you move your thumb father way from the bulb it's possible to block out the DIRECT light from the bulb. And as you move your thumb closer to the bulb your thumb blocks out less and less direct light.
