Not true at all. A good agent will always have the players' best interests at heart. If the player goes to a club and succeeds, then he gets to negotiate a higher contract, and ask for a higher agents fee then. Alternatively, he could take the massive agent's fee and then nobody will want to work with him anymore, because he is selfish. Also, the agent wants the player to develop. It is very beneficial for an agent to handle big players, because the gives them more leverage in acquiring new clients. Not really rocket science, man.

Jorge Mendes, Cristiano Ronaldo's agent is a good agent according to Sir Alex and it was never difficult to deal with him. Mino Raiola, Paul Pogba's agent is difficult and he's a money hungry agent. Apparently he got paid nearly £20m from the Pogba deal.

The agent has to do the right thing and get the best deal for their client. I would want my agent getting top value for my work, no one out there complaining about the agent would be happy working for less than their value, knowing some others doing the same job are on more. I have no problems with players getting their value. If clubs don't want to pay the money then get another player. Clubs and players have to protect their own interests, it's business. The thing I don't agree with, is how a club has to pay an agent's fee. They are already possibly paying someone to broker the deal on their side, so why pay twice. The player hired the agent, so should have to pay the fee out of their own money, not the club.

Agent fees are proportional to player wages and transfer fees, which in turn are proportional to the sums that BT and Sky pay for UCL/EPL match rights. These values have sky rocketed in recent years. If we regulate anything, shouldn't it be the value of EPL broadcast rights? Wouldn't this be the correct approach, rather than attacking 20-somethings like Joel who are merely trying to make a living on percentage commissions? Sounds like the institutions are attacking the little guys here. Sounds like the EPL needs to be restructured - is this why no one wants to take on the EPL CEO job?

It's about maximising a players income over his career as simple as that. Agents should get a percentage of the players salary e.g 1-2%. That way agents and players will be on the same page. The idea of clubs paying agents fees is ludicrous. At the end of the day agents work for players not clubs so why are the clubs paying them? A rediculous system.
