What is the secret to Sri Lanka's Huge Mysterious Rock, Sigirya

Sri Lanka travels, part 5 of 7 of my tasty travel vlogs. In this episode we climbed what is known as the eighth wonder of the world, Sigiriya or the lion rock. There are still many mysteries surrounding this archaeological fortress, in which a palace was constructed on top two hundred metres high. The complex features remnants of a ruined palace, world's oldest landscapes gardens, ponds, canals, alleys and fountains. The entrance was designed in the form of a huge stone lion whose claws have survived, however the body was destroyed. One of the most visited sites by tourists in Sri Lanka. Sadly the government is cashing in on the popularity by charging tourists an unjust premium price.

Hi, Here is the few tips for everyone who is planing to visit Sigiriya. 1. Don't select weekend or public holiday to visit Sigiriya. (it's too crowded in weekends and public holidays ) 2. Go early morning as possible. (its open from 7.00am) too hot and too crowded at day time. 3. Wear shoes,long sleeve tshirt and a cap 4. Bring the water bottle(1 litter)from your hotel or near town, there is no drinking water on the rock and too expensive in near shops 5. Careful from the monkeys and bees 6. if you are a backpacker or use public transport, select hotel near Dambulla town. its easy to catch buses and cheap local restaurants Thank you

it's good see quality video about our country. but there is no priority for public transportation in sri lanka. So that how they drive to reach their destination on time. you should try the long distance buses for one time in here.

Thanks Ravindra, but I will never get into those buses! Maybe the big reputable coaches, but not those local ones. Next time, definitely trains and then cars only for short distances. Highways are perfect if there's one on your way, I know they are building one from Kandy which will help a lot :)

What I dont like about going to sri lanka is paying tourist fees at the aeroport and pay extra at any park or historic site the goverment of srilanka has remove these rules if they want more tourist coming into the country. The other thing is when you get second citizenship from another country you lose your srilankan citizenship

Yes that would be so illegal in Western countries to charge one price for one person, and a different price based on their nationality. Plus entry fees are like the equivalent of one week's minimum wages in Sri Lanka. I hope the government sees reason to help this beautiful country thrive for its people.

Yes that's disappointing about Sri Lanka, some poor back packers had to turn back after travelling all that way. Entry fees can be so overpriced, government needs to be more reasonable if they wish to attract tourists.

definitely bad governments make these things worse. living here is too expansive than u expect they actually destroying everything economically and the money goes straight to the ministers pocket people r suffering here cant do anything. deforestation at its best here! everyday elephants r dying in train accidents no solution for anything.
