Suzy! Your voice was playing in my head as I took both my 6 and 63 ( I mean that as a complement) back in 2016. I’m about half way into the material with another company (darn the luck) but am still encouraged by your advice. It is truly exciting to see you’re still teaching this stuff. Your approach just seemed to match the kind of learner that I am. Keep it up.

What is your recommended study time to prep for the Series 65? As in, how many weeks or months should you allocate before you’re ready to take the exam?

Great question. You have to have an active 65 license, so it's not just passing the exam that qualifies you as an accredited investor. You must be an IAR registered with an IA. Hope that helps! 😀

Please help me with the following questions. There are 2 companies that I am applying/interviewing with, the position with any of them does NOT involved selling any securities. I passed the SIE on my own and both companies serve School Districts and Municipalities with bond emission to raise funds: 1) Company A requires me to take series 7, 50, and 63, and company B only requires S65. From what I just learned, I only need S65 because I will just be providing advice only and I won't be selling ANY securities at all. Is that correct? 2) Why would they be so different in requirements if I won't be selling securities? and 3) If I enrolled in your program, how long would I have access to it? Is it only a few months or until I pass? Thank you.

@PassMasters
@PassMasters 2 жыл бұрын
It's hard for me to say exactly why they are so different in the requirements. Series 65 is an investment adviser representative license, allowing you to share in the fee charged for advice. Series 50 is the municipal advisor representative exam, which doesn't seem far fetched based upon what you will be doing...7 is the stockbroker and 63 state securities law. Some companies err of the side of more compliance than is necessary, possibly based on future opportunities. I can't say for certain, I am sorry about that. As far as the 65 course, the access is for 120 days. If you don't pass your exam, you just provide your score report and we will renew it at no charge. Although I do expect you to PASS!

I have the series 6 and 63. I have not passed the 65. But would you say the 65 is harder than the 7? I know the 7 is options heavy.
@PassMasters
@PassMasters Жыл бұрын
Gosh, it really depends upon your experience. A lot of people take the 65 and don't have any product licenses at all. The 65 is a monster of an exam, super broad AND includes state securities law, but that law is the same law that was on the 63, so that it is helpful that you already have that, but how long ago did you learn it? A lot of my student got their 63 so long ago, it all feels brand new again. So the 7 builds on the SIE and 6, with more in options, like you said, and debt securities mainly, but no state law. They are pretty equal in my opinion. Both require diligent effort to pass! The 65 is written by NASAA and the 7 is FINRA, so the tests have a different flavor, generally people feel like the wording on the 65 is more challenging. I hope that is helpful! Thanks for watching.

Today, it's not so much a math exam....you will need to know some formulas, but they will all be taught within the course (and YT too)...the test really loves you to understand all the yields on bonds and then the different returns (total return, real return, internal rate of return). I would just jump into the course, and ask me anything along the way! 😀

I like this format. Does your course include the series 65 textbook or where do we get that? And also, is actually reading the book included in your 4 week study plan? or should we read the book before going thru your materials, in which case 4 weeks could turn into 8 weeks of study? thank you

We are glad to hear you like the format. The Series 65 course is broken down into manageable topics. Each topic includes a PDF, video, and topic quiz. There is not a separate book to read. The PDFs for each topic range in length from 1-18 pages. Reading is built into the study plan! We hope to have you as a student soon!

@@PassMasters so you're saying there is no official series 65 curriculum book to read, published by FINRA or what have you?
@PassMasters
@PassMasters 2 жыл бұрын
NASAA publishes a Series 65 content outline, which is the basis for the material that is presented in class. There is no official curriculum book that they publish. Here at PassMasters instead of making a big book of information that you must know, we have chosen to present it in smaller topics. This choice comes from years of experience teaching students just like you. We have found that big books of information often become doorstops, simply overwhelming the students. With our program you read the topic, then we explain it to you, then you take a topic quiz to reinforce the knowledge you just learned.

@@b-man1232 I did use them. I studied for 6 weeks using their 4-week format. I scored 69% and needed 72% to pass so I missed it by 3% points. I will be retaking it sometime in the next few months but it is really good content and really good study format.

I have a question. I'm with a firm that sells managed accounts among other things and in order for us to sell them we need a 65 but you're saying it's not a product license I'm confused 😅
@PassMasters
@PassMasters 2 жыл бұрын
The 65 license allows you to charge or to share in a fee for advice. You can't make a commission with a 65, you would need either a 6 or 7 to sell securities products themselves. 65 is for the investment adviser representative, who works for the investment adviser. You may or may not have product licenses too. 65 allows you to make recommendations and get paid for those recommendations. I hope that is helpful!

Can we become an accredited investor with this exam?
@PassMasters
@PassMasters 2 жыл бұрын
Having a series 65 license (being with an investment adviser) is one of the ways to become an accredited investor. So it is more than just passing the test, you do have to be with a firm as well, licensed as an IAR in good standing. Be sure to check with the SEC for additional information.

Gosh, I hear you. Our course are designed to help someone pass the licensing exams to work in the financial services industry. Certainly, anyone who took the SIE course or the Series 65 or Series 7 would learn a TON about how the markets work, but it's not designed to teach you trading strategies to maximize wealth per se. The tests focus more on understanding how the markets and products work as a whole, and when to make certain recommendations.
