What is the social side of University really like? [What to expect from University]

are there big house parties/ frat parties? I just got accepted into durham from America and at bigger schools here there's always a shit ton of house parties from thursday-saturday where basically anyone can get in and there's like 80+ people. If there isn't, is there anything thats like adjacent to that?
