In a recent interview that the former CSKA player Aaron Jackson gave while visiting the states this summer he talked about the infamous "Spanoulis" play. As well as a Spanoulis story for when he was playing for the Houston Rockers.

For those interested the other 2 players he mentioned were Nando De Colo and Sergio Llull. You can find the full interview podcast here nateduncannba.com/podcast-episodes/aaron-jackson-honest-interview-plus-lac-lal-mem-summer-prospects/ Its very interesting as Aaron talks about the differences between Euroleague and the NBA

ESPN or other big sports networks needs to make interviews/podcast with American players in Euroleague every once in a while. It brings awareness to how good the game actually is down there. I'm had it with all these people who lessen these legends down there and insist that college basketball is somehow better than Euroleague. Also, it's interesting af to listen to different perspectives of the game.

Besides the play that Aaron Jackson mentioned, Spanoulis mastered the pick&roll since he was in Panathinaikos. Nemanja Bjelica once said: "In Fenerbahce, coach Obradovic used to mention a lot Vassilis Spanoulis whenever he talked about the pick&roll".We all know they don't have a good relationship anymore, but he surely recognizes that Kill Bill is the pick&roll master. It's no secret that Spanoulis with his assists turned all the centers ,who came to Olympiacos as mediocre players, into great scorers (Kyle Hines, Bryan Dunston, Othello Hunter, Khem Birch, Nikola Milutinov).

Hines in CSKA for so many years, now Milutinov in CSKA, Dunston one of the most well paid centers in Euroleague and Birch an NBA player playing 20 minutes per game. thats their talent not spanoulis. did he teach sloukas also? he had great players besides him and at least one great coach (Ivkovic), of course Bartzokas is a good coach also. you present traveloulis like a magician who made Hines better, thats ridiculous. they were a great team, with a great coach, and spanoulis was good at his part playing the pick and roll, everything else is fairy tales for children

In NBA they’ll rather spend 5 years trying to develop Markel Fultz then give the ball to Vasilis or Teodosic type of player. If they are to remove lottery system it would be much more competitive league. At the beginning of every season you have people talking about 20 teams that have a chance of winning it and at the All star break you figure it is 2-3 teams that can win the championship

Even in this days european players are underrated in USA despite the fact they have shown skills, high basketball IQ and most of the time they have played for the wins of the team, not personal stats.Different mentality. No surprise many american players choosing to play in Euro Champions League and develope themselves further.Coach Q learned a lot coaching CSKA as well.Plus being humble man knowing what it takes to reach next level.Key word is development as team.Or you can buy team like they do in NBA?

No question about it.What is "fascinating" about NBA is bandwagon media coverage. They decide who is good player and who is not according to standards of NBA and who brings most money to NBA.So yes athleticism is a good thing if you need 7-8 years to blossom in NBA.They were disrespecting Luka Doncic before draft, changed their tune after his 1st year and now they are talking about next level.Personally I watch Euroleague any given day before NBA.Skills, execution and shooting level is far better in Europe. If I want to watch 120kg athlete,I watch weightlifting or something.I know I am disrespecting NBA now same way they respect european players, but fact remains top 5 NBA players include 3 european players.Doncic,Jokic,Giannis.Enough said.
