I think this test is slightly rigged against the AI rebellion, as one of the main strengths that they have is that they cause your robots to rebel a lot and can use this to gain more planets, but the games starts with no one having robots, so they have an unfair disadvantage. to make it more fair you could have all the empires start with synthetic, or at least droid technology.
@Quadratical7 жыл бұрын
it's especially unfair because they are already the weakest. also I know how to beat that unbidden fleet at the end: step 1: Build a fleet, get an automated dreadnought, or some combat vessel (or a construction ship) step 2: open console with ~ step 3: type 'invincible' and close console step 4: jump in your ships and send them over, or if using a construction ship, build some fortresses or other stations step 5: wait about a billion years ta-da

@zachboo4 жыл бұрын
I think you should redo this video in the current version of the game, start it after 100 years of AI empire growth, and add the AI rebellion in 4 random locations like they do in the regular game. The way you did this was truly the unbidden vs the scourge, as the contingency wasn’t given the 4 pop centers as happens naturally, plus what ASpec said. Also set their crisis strength to at least 2.5-5x so they aren’t as hindered by the AI empires. It would also be interesting to see how they spread given the newer mechanics of taking a star system requiring a starbase, compared to this old way of having their influence bubbles grow out.

@NothingXemnas4 жыл бұрын
With the advances made by OpenAI, we might have a true AI coming. The only problem with the current AI is that its programmed. As it lacks improvisational skills, it is inherently lacking and Paradox is not a culprit. With a true AI, however, it is literally trained.
@fellowtemplar56794 жыл бұрын
NothingXemnas It’s not that. Thing is, AI as a particular species has one main goal aka trait (militarist, pacifist, etc.) and they mainly stick to it, which makes AI predictable. Whereas, player may change his goal and policy at any time.
@MatthewSmith-sz1yq4 жыл бұрын
@@fellowtemplar5679 yeah that goes back to that whole programming thing, in order to create some variety in the AI, they programmed different kinds based on the ethics. Otherwise we would have fanatic pacifist spiritualists that would do nothing but military, or determined exterminators never declaring war. The problem with designing AI in RTS though is that it can be really overpowered, while also having large weaknesses. AI are pretty effective at micromanagement, if you design it to squeeze every alloy it can out of the economy, it will do so. However what they struggle with is the big picture stuff, such as finding good chokepoints for defense, or massing their fleet before declaring war, and especially the political and diplomatic system. (Although the AI in the galactic community can be frustratingly smart sometimes).

Against humans the Unbidden are manageable if you have built your fleets up. If you focus all of your fleets into one big doom stack, you can hunt down their anchors and destroy their portal before they become too strong - which also stops their two frenemies from spawning.

Honestly, I had a headache when pretoryn came, trying to micro little torpedo boat groups is the key! They are useful for killing colony ships. And you also don't wanna engage them fair and square, make big over 150k fleet armed mostly with kinetic artillery and have "cautious" fleet admiral, you will be able to inflict massive amounts of damage before disengaging without many losses. So two key things: 1) small torpedo boat strike groups - a LOT of them to constantly monitor and intercept pretoryn colony ships, thus preventing their expansion into your territory and loss of economy. 2) Fleet that can significantly outrange their weaponry. I would also recommend at least one regen hull tissue on each of your ship classes, because it keeps repairing even when you are in ftl and emergency ftl, so less economy burden and more healthy ships for you. Jump drive also helps out a LOT for obvious reasons.
@kajarslibrary54047 жыл бұрын
Kinetic Artillery? Why not Tachyon Lance, Plasma and Fighters. Pretoryn rely on armor, missiles and strike craft. Lances and Plasma almost completely ignore their armor. Put in a bunch of carriers with fighters to deal with theirs and the missiles. I find the Pretoryn the easiest to deal with simply because they are the easiest to hard-counter. They aren't that scary if you can remove 90% of the offensive and defensive potential just like that.
@huntre1117 жыл бұрын
actually, their fleets are kinda pathetic if you consistently outrange them, they don't seem to have anything with a range over 60, and half of their weapons are vulnerable to PD, so a mildly well off Empire can just put out a well-equiped fleet and murder fleet after fleet of Preythorians

While I have limited experience with the end-game crises, I definitely feel that you did not give the AI uprising enough leeway. Their biggest strength is in turning the robotic pops of other empires against them, meaning that the more large robot-containing empires there are, the stronger they become. Also spawning right next to the Scourge completely kept them from ever growing ever.
@SondreAlexander7 жыл бұрын
When it comes to the end game crisises the Unbidden is the strongest because they can keep on building up their fleet because of the portal and With the stations that can expand their border and defend themself they are pretty strong and almost unbeatble Without a strong enough fleet. But still when I look at the crisis events they all have diffirent purposes, The Unbidden as I already have said are the strongest and can expand fast, but their have one big flaw. The Portal. If you destroy the portal you can very easily destroy their fleet and then just one after another destroy the stations. The Prethoryn Scourge are the most Deadly, why? Because of how fast they can expand and what happens to a planet they have colonized. The Prethoryn Scourge doesnt have the strongest fleet, but they are able to start a mass extinction event by colonizing a big area of the Galaxy becuase when you eradicate the Scourge froma planet it has a big chance of becoming Barren because of the extensive bombardment of the planet. Then the AI, the weakest crisis. Even though they seems powerfull they arent the most powerfull. They do though have the best Tech of the crisises and they can infiltrate Your planets, nuke the planets and much more. But the interesting thing about the AI Rebellion is that it doesnt colonize system or use stations, it rather spreads the revolution to other empires making their robots start to rebel and they can also enslave the population of planets they have occupied. They are also very aggresive, but can be easily defeated.

Lol the Unbidden were a joke in my last game, probably because both me and the newly-awakened xenophile empire knew we couldn't tolerate that shit or it would get out of hand fast. We both threw our massive fleet power against them repeatedly as fast as we could because no-one else in the galaxy was prepared and had the naval might to respond that fast. Our fleet power combined with the sheer number of Gateways (many of which I built) and Wormholes that connected the many disparate parts of the galaxy, allowing you to cross vast distances in years instead of decades, allowed us to keep a near constant barrage of 60-100k fleets crashing against them in waves. Finally I gathered about 260k worth of fleet power for a final push against their remaining 180k and absolutely crushed them. They never got to conquer more than a few systems of the one empire they spawned in (who didn't have the fleet power to resist). It was kinda awesome but underwhelming at the same time.

AI can be the most powerful if they are allowed to expand. Thing is they are slow to expand and only get moving quickly if there are a number of surround empires using robots. Like the unbidden if they can be contained and wiped out early they are deemed easy. In this game they got boxed in quickly by the swarm and given no place to expand and grow. The swarm are only dangerous as long as they have new worlds to consume, if boxed in and staved of new worlds their fleets grow slower and they can be destroyed through attrition. Setting FTL trap stations for swarm construction and transport ships is a good way to slow their advance.

Actually the end of the cycle is not that strong vs many targets. A couple dozen unbidden fleets would beat a 1M strength EOTC. Since unbidden ignores half of shields and have very high shields which EOTC is mediocre against. Also prethoryn scourge could also beat a medium sized EOTC. They incredibly high hull points and are big in numbers. They also use scourge missiles against an all shield-no pd target. I was once able beat a 1.8 M strength EOTC with an 800k of specialized ARC emitter, devastator torpedo heavy fleet which had a lot of torpedo corvettes. It's not as strong as the game itself portraits.
@ldavidtw20007 жыл бұрын
Agreed. EoC is actually super weak if your gun ignores shield. From my experience & a small unbidden vs EoC video on youtube, if you got matter disintegrator and/or arc emitters, you can blow that thing back to Slannesh in 10 seconds. The trick is to slap a bunch of naked corvettes to tank its 4x700 dmg psi lasers.

I started the endgame crisis at the start of a game once... it was prethoryn scourge and I decided to make the unbidden, along with their infighting buddies, come along as well. Endgame difficulty was on max. Then I was like "wait oh crap I didn't mean to do that" but realized I could have some fun with this. *I gave my starting species tonnes of tech (constantly completing, unpausing, repausing, picking new tech, repeat (building a dyson sphere when only 2 years into the game? I see no problems here)), tonnes of gene modification points and then uplifted them to having as many positive traits as possible and no negative ones, including synthetics, and, while intending to just make my starting world a Gaia, accidentally made every planet in the galaxy into a Gaia. I got tonnes of government points and just grabbed as many government features as possible, as well as ascension perks etc. Basically I made my empire into a super-empire when it only had 4 systems. I used "max resource" to max out my resources and gave it all to other empires repeatedly so theirs would be maxed and then their love of my resources was used to get migration treaties which I used for colonizing every world under my control, so that I could then apply lots of cool genes to and uplift the pops from the other species while having xeno compatibility just for that pop growth. I tried asking them all to become my protectorates so they'd get my tech and be able to uplift as well but they all turned me down.* The other empires only really served to slow the endgames down and get me extra pops to gene-max and massively increase pop growth through xeno compatibility. My empire ended up constantly being on the move, with borders actually changing constantly as I fought for new territory, lost territory, and basically just had to keep going as much as possible. My entire empire ended up halfway around the map before I finally got a breakthrough in that the Unbidden's infighting buddies showed up and were able to distract the Unbidden, who I was in the territory of, enough for me to focus on wiping out the Scourge (since those naughty boys messed up my Gaia worlds in their territory) and this allowed me to whip around and attack the Unbidden and their buddies. I would always attack whoever the strongest was, as the weaker ones would be concentrating on them as well, and I figured it would be the most efficient way about it. I ultimately came out on top and colonized every planet in a small galaxy with a species straight out of a fascist's wet dreams... then I deliberately pissed everyone off to have some fun crushing a rebellion but overestimated my power and got rekked by hungry peasants.

Look for this workshop mod The Zenith of Fallen Empires: Sins of the Fallen Empires This end game crisis will kick your ass and yes its a bit unblanced but its being worked on and is amazing and actually fits the lore of Stellaris pretty well. The Precursors they never left they were sealed away until now.

5:40 Can someone explain why & what is happening to the Scourge here? why does it just "self destruct"? As I see it (not a Stellaris player), It has no resistance to the right & should easily have taken about half the galaxy there.
@akirawolf98284 жыл бұрын
My best guess is that the Unbidden’s fleet made contact with the Scourge. The fleets swept through the Scourge territory, wiping them out before they started to claim the territory. A little before that, it looks like the Sentinels and Aberrant spawned in. In the south south east. The Sentinels spawn to counter the Scourge when it starts to get out of hand (gives tech and specialized ships). The Aberrant spawned in next to the Sentinels and wiped them out. If unbidden control X% of the galaxy, a rival faction (the Aberrant) from it’s home dimension finds it in our galaxy and goes after it. Aberrant act identical to the Unbidden. In theory, the two factions are supposed to ignore the rest of the galaxy to kill each other, thereby giving players some breathing room. Both Unbidden and Aberrant are programmed to prioritize each other, so the Unbidden might have rushed fleets to the Aberrant, and crushed them. Alternatively, the Scourge might have crushed them, but got hit hard, thereby allowing the Unbidden to wipe them out. At the time of this video, Unbidden/Aberrant had highest reinforcement rates of all the endgame crises. And their weapons practically hard counter the Scourge.

General tactics for the Unbidden: 1. Counter the design (Unbidden have strong shields, but no armor, also strong energy weapons). 2. Try to destroy them fast. 3. Can't handle them in direct fight yet? Guerilla warfare. Jump attack their bases while evading their fleets, then jump back and reinforce.

im att half of a 1000 galaxy and the ai is using all jump drive which makes it hard to catch them with warp drive only. wind down of 50 days,,, got 500k fleet power devided in a few fleets, so if i can use jump drive and not get a crissi this late game id like to use it. but i can t be sure,,

In my game i did not pay any attention to unbidden, till they started to destroy my vassals. And when i paid attention and started to fight back the half f the galaxy was under their control... then it took me loots of time to understand how this crisis works... so it took little more than a 100 gaming years for me to stop them... that was hell of a war

I could wrap that unbidden fleet with my current long game empire. They're all about 18K with a few exceptions. I'm rocking 1.5M in fleet strength.

Unbidden can be beaten back quickly enough as long as you deal with them right away. Leaving them to grow allows them to grow into an unstoppable colossus, coupled with the fact more show up once they grow large enough.
@bibby6594 жыл бұрын
The thing that make the unbidden so dangerous, is that unlike all the other crisis, if yoy choose to ignore it or take to long to deal with it, it will constantly spawn endless waves of reinforcements. what I don't get however is that it looked like an empire actually cleared them out and then they popped up again out of nowhere, this makes me wonder if the Ai managed to push them back to the portal but since they essentially don't have the overall fleet power that they lost to the station and couldn't finish off the portal itself because of this.

The first time I experienced the end game crisis, just a few days ago, it was the Pryowhatever Scourge, and then some idiot started playing with the psionics and brought in the dudes from another dimension. So I had both of these systematically eradicating life in the galaxy.

I think this experiment would have worked better if the Synths had spawned a good distance from the others. In fact, since the AI Rebellion operates much like a normal empire (but with massive production bonuses) and the Unbidden require colonized worlds to expand, I think the best experiment would be to let the galaxy run for ~100 years THEN spawn each of the three crisis at opposite "corners" of the galaxy and see what happens.
