The prices I've been seeing are astronomical.

For sure, and they are not getting better ...

'05 owner here to say that Jeeps always hold value because if you want a Jeep, the only solution is a Jeep. There is simply nothing else on the market quite like them. Similar? Maybe. But not the same.

Haha, preach. I wouldn't pick anything similar.....

This year I picked up what I believe is the cleanest 02 TJ in existence with only 100k miles for $1,500, then just picked up a 2004 TJ 1 owner that’s very clean for 3,300 last week. I sold the first one for $10k within 1 hour of posting it, and I’m listing the most recent one for $13k. Side note; I’d never buy or own a 4 cylinder Jeep.

@MidwestMechanics 😲 Wow, what state do you live in?! I have gotten some pretty good deals over the years but that’s crazy. Well done.

you cant even buy a honda civic missing 3 doors 1 wheel no rear or back front bumper for 1500. I don't even think you can buy a running vehicle here in AZ for 1500. Maybe a motorized bike? wtf

my 2000 SE with auto and A/C is my toy. i lifted it 2.5" and threw on some 33's (10.5 wide) Stock wheels and stock axles. It's a great trail rider but since i didn't re-gear it it's not a highway runner. (not that it was with the stock wheels). As i live in the mid-atlantic i've had to do some frame repairs. Driver's side rear at the control arm, and passenger side front at the control arms. All pretty typical. I have a section to replace on passenger side center now so i can get my transfer case back in. Point being, these things can be kept going for a long time. Both the 2.5 and the 4.0 will run forever if they are maintained. But, they are old vehicles. I love my tj but no one should be buying one now for their daily driver, regardless of its condition.

Rust is always present and needs to be kept at bay for sure. I have 2 of these that my wife and I use as dailies, as you can see, we are always working on them to keep them going. I just can't go to something else.....

The SE with the AX5 manual transmission has 4.10s as standard

Thanks for the assist. I just looked up my build sheet for my 2.5 with the AX5 and it shows 4.11 gears. Cheers.

From a 99 TJ SE owner, yes the 2.5L can be a bit frustrating on the highway, but when in good tune, it will hold 70mph at a little more than 1/4 throttle. Off road, it never lacked power in any situation and it is light and climbs like a billy goat on 31” tires.
@LifeofaDAD059 күн бұрын
I would be really interested in what the "good tune" entails. I have a 99 SE as well with the AX5 and I am lucky to get to 70 with less than 3/4 throttle. Unless I am going down hill with a wicked tailwind and a boat sail on the roof....

IDK I’ve got a 97 Sahara 4.0, definitely NOT a 4 cylinder.
@LifeofaDAD05Күн бұрын
Ya, the Sahara is a 4.0. I misspoke there. The SE is a 4 cylinder. Cheers.
